IMO the problems with the protocols are...that there are so many
protocols. I have tried to sort of get over the problem with
the InterMUD System my MUD uses, where it simply tries to
translate the protocols to one protocol that is then
parsed by the MUD. As of now, the RoM-Intermud understands
the Circle Intermud Protocol by Tempus MUD and the Intermud2
LPC Protocol by Zebedee MUD. You can find my code free for

My plans for version 3.0 are that the 'modular protocol concept'
I'm using will be extended in a way, that it also is no matter
whether the protocol is based on UDP or TCP. Unfortunately
I currently lack a bit of time to develop the Intermud System
further (as priority lies with the MUD itself currently).

It sure *is* OOC. But my opinion of a good mud is not only the
roleplay aspect but also the socialising aspect, where people
from all over the world meet and actually make RL friendships.
