I've been reading through the archives, picking up interesting ideas from a couple years ago. Some here might have met me from the MUD-Dev dinner held at the GDC. My name is Brian Green, frequently known online as "Psychochild". I started playing text MUDs in college in 1992. While it's not unusual to start playing in college, I am the only person I know from my group of friends at college that played online games and still managed to graduate. :) With two degrees, even (Computer Science and Spanish, for those curious). I took the usual road after college, thinking that there was no way anyone would actually pay me to work on a MUD. ;) So, I got a boring job at a company that made mapping software; it didn't take me long to get bored with that. As I was working with a recruiter to find a job in the game industry (I didn't dream I'd be able to work on an online game immediately), my resume crossed the desk of a producer at 3DO looking to hire a programmer for Meridian 59. Well, to cut to the chase, in May of 1998, I was working on Meridian 59. During my time there, I went from working with a senior programmer/designer to being the only programmer on the project and working with the designer on design as he worked with me on programming the implementation. It was a nice experience because I share a bond with a group of distinguished developers that worked on the game before I did. I can also blame these people for the awful things I had to fix while working on it. :) I left 3DO earlier this month and am currently "between jobs". :) I've got a few good leads on jobs, but if anyone wishes to talk to me or has any hot leads, feel free to contact me personally. (You can find a copy of my resume at: http://www.psychochild.org/personal/gresht.html) My particular interests on the technical side of things are scripting languages and network programming (although, I'm still quite a newbie at network programming). On the design side of things, I'm rather good at developing logical game mechanics and have quite an interest in community development. I hope to contribute a bit as time goes on. -- "And I now wait / to shake the hand of fate...." -"Defender", Manowar Brian Green, brian#psychochild,org aka Psychochild |\ _,,,---,,_ *=* Morpheus, my kitten, says "Hi!" *=* ZZzz /,`.-'`' -. ;-;;,_ |,4- ) )-,_..;\ ( `'-' "Ritalin Cures Next Picasso" '---''(_/--' `-'\_) -The_Onion_, August 4th, 1999 _______________________________________________ MUD-Dev mailing list MUD-Dev#kanga,nu http://www.kanga.nu/lists/listinfo/mud-dev

Prev by Date: Re: [MUD-Dev] Richard Garriot's 'X' project

Next by Date: [MUD-Dev] An idea for breaking away from the HP/Mana mindset

Prev by thread: [MUD-Dev] An idea for breaking away from the HP/Mana mindset

Next by thread: Re: [MUD-Dev] Richard Garriot's 'X' project

Index(es):

Date

Thread

Thread context:

Re: [MUD-Dev] An idea for breaking away from the HP/Mana mindset, (continued)

Re: [MUD-Dev] An idea for breaking away from the HP/Mana mindset, Eli Stevens wickedgrey@wickedgrey.com, Sun 02 Apr 2000, 21:48 GMT

Re[2]: [MUD-Dev] An idea for breaking away from the HP/Mana mindset, Travis Casey efindel@io.com, Mon 03 Apr 2000, 03:51 GMT

Re: [MUD-Dev] An idea for breaking away from the HP/Mana mindset, adam adam@treyarch.com, Mon 03 Apr 2000, 22:38 GMT

[MUD-Dev] An idea for breaking away from the HP/Mana mindset, Jeremy Hovance jhovance@cscc.edu, Sat 15 Apr 2000, 17:21 GMT

[MUD-Dev] An introduction, Brian Green brian@psychochild.org, Sun 02 Apr 2000, 06:33 GMT
Re: [MUD-Dev] Richard Garriot's 'X' project, AR Schleicher ars@iag.net, Sun 02 Apr 2000, 00:49 GMT

Re: [MUD-Dev] Richard Garriot's 'X' project, Brian Green brian@psychochild.org, Sun 02 Apr 2000, 14:54 GMT

<Possible follow-up(s)>

Re: [MUD-Dev] Richard Garriot's 'X' project, Jeff Freeman SkeptAck@antisocial.com, Sun 02 Apr 2000, 06:33 GMT

[MUD-Dev] [Open_Gaming_Moderated] Simplified License for Comment and Critique (fwd), J C Lawrence claw@kanga.nu, Sat 01 Apr 2000, 18:28 GMT

[ Other Periods | Other mailing lists | Search ]
