steal, yet as soft as silk.  The guardian does not look like an easy mark.

The beast is truly repulsive.  Her hair hangs in natted clumps that stick
to the side of her disfigured face.  Her body is lumpy and misformed, she

A massive way dragon roams the halls in search of her home.

The way dragon is huge!  She stands about thirty feet at the shoulder and
she looks as though she might way a few hundred tons.  Her eyes are sad as
she wanders the great hallways in search of the gate that will take her
home.  Her colouring is quite beautiful, varying from a pale orange at her
head to a sky blue at her tail.  You feel remorse for her, and you hope she
will find a way home.

A huge griffin pounces at you with hatred in it's eyes.

The griffin is a cross between a lion and an eagle, he is resplendant in
his flowing mane.  His talons are a full seven inches long and sharp as a
dagger.  You can see claw marks in the floor where he paces.

Entrance to Insanity~

The walls of this chamber seem alive with colour and lights.  Images are
called to your memory by the patterns created as they swirl and glitter. 
You find yourself thinking of things long forgotten, and times before the
storm.  You start to see images of people long dead, and of battles fought
thousands of years before your time.  You realize that these chambers are
ancient, perhapts older than the storm itself.  There is a small golden sign
on the wall here.

As you glance around the hallway you notice that although the light is
adequate, you can only see about ten feet around you.  There doesn't seem to
be a fading of light, but rather an absense of it.  You note this as meerly
an annoyance until you realize that ten feet is an awefully short distance
for a creature to close in at.  You realize that you'll have no quick notice
as to what is about to attack you.  The place fairly reeks of fear.

The hallway takes an abrupt turn to the east here.  The walls are lined
with portraits and tapastries of varying size and colour.  You can smell the
rancid scent of death hanging cloyantly in the air and your stomach rushes
to rebel.

Hallway of Essence~

The angles of this hallway seem all wrong, twisted and distorted.  The
pictures show hideous creatures devouring mortal creatures of all types,
many humanoid.  The floor seems to be slanting slowly downwards and travel
to the east is almost easy, as if the place wanted you to go this way.

As you approach the end of the hallway the walls begin to fuzz and blur,
as if you were weary.  You mentally check yourself over and find that you
are not tired in any way.  You approach one of the walls and touch it, it
feels fuzzy and the shape is all wrong.  After awhile your stomach starts to
protest your scrutiny of the walls, so you avert your eyes.

The hallway shifts to the north hear.  The walls are distorded and
horibly disfigured.  They bend and twist at angles that would quickly cause
any normal structure to colapse.  You try not to think about what might
happen if there was a cave in.

Chamber of Disfigurement~

The angles in this room seem distorted and unstable, it almost seems as
if the walls curve in and out as they join the slighly larger roof to the
small and oddly shaped floor.  The walls are lined with hideous portraits of
creatures that defy nature, arms sprouting from cracked and bleeding heads,
legs protruding from a pussy and infected back.  This place is a true horror
unto itself.  You shiver unconciously.

This hall looks much more civil than some of the others in the ways.  It
is well maintained and is not in flux.  There are several portraits on the
wall, including some of dragons and other great beasts.  This almost reminds
you of a hallway in any castle within the storm.

The hallway continues to the west and the northern wall harbors an
entrance way.  You can smell a foul stench radiating from the north.  The
area around the door seems to slowly fade from stone to a sort of milky
white substance as it curves into the large oval room.  You can sense the
presence of some huge beast through that passageway.

An oval chamber~

~
The chamber is oval in shape, and it is most awkward to stand on the
floor.  The walls are fashioned of some strange milky white substance and
colours seem to play across it's surface.  You mentally liken it to watching
a rainbow through milky lenses.  The overall affect is quite stunning.

You note that there is no actual corner to this bend in the hallway, it's
just that, a bend.  The hallway seems to have been drawn to the south slowly
and the hall curves and contorts to compensate.  The portraits hanging along
the curves wall are also curved, as are the torches and the flames they
produce.  The overall affect is quite disconserting, especially when you
notice that you begin to curve aswell.

The hallway broadens here until you could fit five or six stalwart
dwarves shoulder to shoulder across it.  You can sense tiny vibrations
through the floor as if some massive machine is operating off in the
distance.  You note that the walls here seem to glow with a light of thier
own, and even give off a small amount of heat.

slowly run your hads across it's surface before realizing that they are not
pulsing with life, but with some kind of vibration.  You can feel the
presence of some powerful entity lurking just beyond your sight.

Once again the hallway bends slowly to the west.  The curvature is
amazingly accurate and you note that all the portraits and tapastries are
curved to fit thier position on the wall.  As you navigate the curve you

The vibrations here seem more intense and you can here a faint hum
eminating from somewhere close by.  You can smell sulfur and brimstone not
far to the south, and it is from that direction that the vibrations seem to
be strongest.  Over the low hum you can make out the sound of claws grating
on brick, and the low rumble of some huge beasts growl.

Chamber of the Prism~

This chamber seems to have been carved from a huge multi-faceted crystal,
lights refract across it's surface creating a highly hypnotic pattern.  You
watch blithly until you can feel your mind slowly sliping away.  You shake
yourself back into realization with a new respect for this place.  Surely it
is the purpose of this chamber to distract the undisciplined adventurer. 
The whole chamber seems to be vibrating in resonance to some sound you
cannot hear.

The Aradian Waygate~

This room is set apart from the rest in the ways in the fact that it
seems normal.  You would almost think this to be a simple chamber in any
castle within the storm.  The walls are made of good hard granite and
torches light the chamber with a flickering glow.  The rug is plush and well
woven and there are several portraits of warriors and magi on the walls. 
The only notible oddity is the huge shimmering gate which stands in the
centre of the room.

Far in the distance you can here strange throbbing noises, as if
somewhere within these chambers a huge heart is beating.  You can almost
make out the sounds of voices with each throb.  They call to you

web that had been slowly falling over your mind.  You realize that you will
have to keep a strong mental hold on yourself.

This room seems strangely familliar to you, as if you had briefly passed
it by at some point or another.  There are no overly distinguishing
qualities to it, the walls are all fine granite stone, and the floor is very

strange beings walking amongst groups of mortals which seem to be totally
ignorant of thier existance.

This hallway seems to stretch towards infinity.  You cannot make out the
end which must lie somewhere far to the north.  The walls here seem much

This chamber is huge!  Some one hundred by seventy by fourty feet.  You
marvel at the archetecture.  Hanging from the ceiling are any number of
chandeliers and magical lanterns.  You watch the patterns of light that
reflect from the chandeliers dance across the walls.  The floors are covered
in a plush red carpet that feels soft enough to sleep on.

This section of the chamber is covered in strange glyphs and wards.  The
flare up at your entrance.  Sitting on a pedestal in the corner is a strange
black rock, it slowly pulses with an inner radiance that gives you the
creeps rather quickly.  It looks like a frozen drop of oil.

On a pedestal in the corner sits a small golden ring.  It gives off faint
pulses of light and heat.  The carpeting here is far more worn than it is in
the rest of the chamber.  The portraits here depict strange beasts that seem
to defy nature itself, horses with the heads of chickens and aligators with
human arms and legs.  Under the pictures a phrase is written neatly

Against the north wall is a throne inlaid with priceless gemstones and
encrusted with gold.  The scrollwork going up the back is quite elegant. 
Directly above this throne hangs a portrait of a great mage holding sway
over a huge black wyrm, the picture is lighted by another of those strange
magical lanterns and it throws shadows and sparkles across the scene.

This section of the chamber is fairly nondescript.  You only notice one
thing of interest and that is a small scroll that tells of how one can
create a portal to the ancient levels of the Ways.  It's fairly illegible,
but from what you make out it's obvious that great treasures and hideous
creatures abount on the ancient level of this strange place.

The silence enfolds you like a shroud.  Your ears strain to pick up even
the faintest of sound but nothing can be made out.  Bereft of your hearing
you can feel your other senses begining to heighten.  Your eyes bulge
forward in thier sockets, straining to pick up everything.  Your skin crawls
with sensation, your hair bristles in eager anticipation.  You can feel the
presence of something unnatural further along this corridor.

you, making you immune to this feeling of waryness, so that when it becomes
real you won't be ready.

few minutes the perspective in the room seems to sway, as if you are moving

A small stain of blood covers the carpet of this section of the hallway. 
It appears to be quite fresh, upon closer examination you can see that the
blood trails to the wall and than proceeds up the side to the ceiling.  From
the ceiling it drips back to the floor and slowly moves toward the wall, in
and endless cycle.  You deftly step around the drip, wary of what it might
do if you interupt it's pattern.

realize that the cause must be the strange air, you hold your breath and
focus on the hallway before you.

draw your attention....  Just as it was designed to.

This room is almost normal in comparison to the majority you've seen
within this place.  The walls are smooth and black, as if charred and then
polished.  You run your hand deftly along one of the walls and pull it back
bleeding, where you touched the wall a small, barely visible spike slowly
returns to it's hiding place.  There is a set of gallows here and the blade
is dripping with fresh blood, you approach and then realize that it is an
illusion.  The room seems to be emulating the fears it senses within it's
occupants.  Quite odd.
