This is obviously an abnormally large specimen of the species, the branch
can hardly contain the weight of you and this frog combined.  While you
watch in amazement the frog's tongue zips out and smacks up against the bark
of the tree obviously catching some unsuspecting insect for dinner.  The
frog then returns it's gaze to you.

You continue to follow the path towards what looks to be some sort of
village to the south.  Farther ahead you can see the path starts to widen
out and become a road.  On either side of you trees line the path hemming
you in and allowing no other directions to follow.

Here the path starts to widen out and become more of a contemporary road
than it was previously.  Looking down at the newly formed road you can see
many tracks all overlapping each other in it.  Seems that this road is one
that is widely and commonly used.

Continuing along the road~

You continue to follow the road south, deeper into the village wondering
what to expect.  Looking around you it seems to be that this village belongs
to a number of serfs that work the fields for the lord of the large fortress
located off somewhere to the east.  All around you the hustle and bustle of
children and their mothers trying to control them continues.

Off on a sidestreet~

You take a small sidestreet to the east towards the numerous huts that
seem to house the serfs that live in the village.  Looking around you wonder
how these people can live in such horrible conditions.  A number of the huts
are almost to the point of falling apart.

You continue along this sidestreet to the west.  Looking around you
figure that this is where all the serfs live.  You can see numerous huts
around you all in various states of disrepair.  Far off to the west you can
see one hut that is in a bit better condition than the others and actually
has a real door.

The eastern sidestreet~

You continue to follow the sidestreet east.  To both the north and south
a hut stands with nothing but some loose cloth tied over the doorway to keep
out the wind.  A number of children run screaming through the street looking
very happy, though you wonder how they could be living under these
conditions.

Following a sidestreet~

You tramp through the mud while following this small street.  To your
north and south a pair of miserable looking little huts stand as mute
testimonials to how poor these serfs really are.  A few children run by you
screaming and shouting and looking like they're having a good time.

A hut~

~
You have entered one of the number of huts located on this small
sidestreet.  It has to be one of the most pathetic things you have ever
seen.  A few pieces of cloth on the floor evidently serve as beds, and a
chest that looks to be falling apart seems to serve as a table.  There are a
number of rocks with a small fire inside them that evidently serves for
cooking and for heat.  Smoke fills the air even though quite a bit of it
escapes through the holes in the roof.

You have entered probably one of the most destroyed buildings you have
ever had the pleasure of visiting.  It's amazing that this place is still
standing.  There's puddles of water all over the floor which used to be dirt
but is now just a mud pit.  A small fire in the middle of the room fills the
place up with smoke almost making you choke.

Looking around at the inside of this hut, you wonder how anyone could
live like this.  The holes in the roof certainly were not by design, while
the pieces of cloth on the floor acting as beds cannot be comfortable.  And
the large piece of wood set up on rocks to serve as a table tilts so
dangerously it's a wonder that anything put on it doesn't fall off.

This hut it much like the others in that it is barely capable of shield
it's occupants from the forces of nature.  The holes in the roof are mostly
taken upt by well placed birds nests helping to keep out the rain, but the
breeze from the doorway is constant and annoying.  Its a wonder anyone could
sleep or work in such as this.  A few measly rags stuffed up against one
corner seem to serve as a bed for the occupants.

You follow this small sidestreet west, tramping through the mud as you
do.  To your north and south a pair of squalid huts stand with only
draperies over their doorways to provide any privacy.  To your west stand a
hut in slightly better repair than all the others around you, it even has a
real door which is closed.  Off to the east you can hear a mother calling
for her children to come home.

these people must live.  Though it still galls you to think of the
aristocrats living high and fat while these people are made to suffer in
such abject misery.  This hut is much like the others with inadequate
roofing, pathetic pieces of furniture, and only a small campfire in the
middle of the room for cooking and warmth.

Following the path of the road you get more and more depressed as you
make your way through this miserable place.  Off to the south the large
building grows a bit bigger while to your west is a medium sized building
with a large sign outside it.  Closer to the south the sounds of coughing
and hacking can be heard, you wonder what's making them.

The muddy roadway~

Following the road you can see that the building located to the south is
a chapel of some type.  And it's a very well built chapel too.  You wonder
how people that barely have enough to live on can afford to have a chapel of
such rich proportions about.  Off to the east the coughing and hacking
noises become louder and you wonder again what is over there making those
noises.

The roadway~

The road seems to broaden out even more here as if it was designed to
handle a large amount of traffic all at the same time.  Off to your south
the chapel towers above you and you can see a pair of huge doors that
probably lead into it.  While off to your west a small path leads into the
underbrush towards a large tree that tops all the others in the area.

A small shop~

You have entered the shop of the local merchant.  He has obviously
converted his own hut to serve as his shop and it is in the same state of
disrepair as all the huts in this place.  You wonder what items this
merchant could possibly have to sell to people so poor, maybe if you asked
him he'd tell you.

The Tavern of Lost Hope~

You have entered the commone room of probably one of the worst looking
taverns you have ever had the misfortune of gracing.  The floor is covered
with mud and debris while the people here aren't much better.  The
tavernkeeper off to the west behind the bar doesn't look as if he's ever
heard of the concept called a bath.  While to the north you can see a
smaller room which you think might be better you reaccess your opinion as
you see a rat scurry across the floor.

A small backroom~

This room is as dirty and disgusting as the common room it turns out.  A
small table is set up here for those people that might wish to be alone
while considering their fate of eating in a place like this.  As a cockroach
the size of a small rat crawls across your boot you decide to be very
careful of anything you might eat or drink in this place.

The bar~

You've come upon the bar.  Standing behind it Elmo, the owner of this
place smiles a toothless grin at you and ask you what your poison is.  Upon
hearing his words you can't help but chuckle and consider that if you were
to order anything in here it would probably be poison.  The bar shows signs
of heavy use and abuse and the glasses Elmo uses are so dirty you're not
even sure they're glass.  You begin to think that coming in here wasn't a
really great idea.

The WiseWoman's hut~

This hut is much like the others in that it is only a one room building,
other than that it differs greatly.  There are no holes in the roof, there
is a real bed over in the corner with a chest sitting at the end of it. 
Instead of a fire surrounded by rocks a small iron stove is located in the
center of the room.  Also there is a real wood table, not just some wood or
a falling apart chest.  It seems that either the villagers love and revere
this woman and give the best to her, or the fear her greatly and refuse to
cross her.

A small path~

You've taken a small path off to the east of the main road through the
village.  Looking around you you can tell by certain signs like overgrown
shrubbery and such that this path is used very little and even seems to be
shunned by the villagers.  You wonder what could be so bad down this way
that all the people avoid it like the plague.

The sick camp~

Ack!  It seems that the people of the village avoid this place like the
plague cause it is in fact the plague.  All around you are sick people in

All around you the sounds and sights of the sick and dying assault your
senses.  You thought the village itself was bad but this place is worse.

a small hovel with a closed door.

Gods what an awful place this is.  You begin to wonder what you are doing
here,.  This place is only filled with sick and dying people, if you stay
much longer you yourself could very well catch whatever disease these people
have.  Off to the east even more of the camp can be seen as well as more

This place is thoroughly miserable.  Over to one side there's a man
coughing up blood while standing right next to you a woman is loosing the
contents of her last meal onto your boots.  If you stay here much longer you
could very well catch some deadly malady and yourself be consigned to this
retched place to stay here till you die and then have your body carted away
to be burned.  North the camp continues while west lead back the way you
came and seems like a good way to go.

This is the hut belonging to the nurse who is supposed to be helping the
people outside.  But it seems that she's hiding in here instead, hoping that
in time they will all die and that she won't catch whatever disease each of
those people are carrying around with them.

You follow the road and start climbing the steps leading up to the
chapel's two great doors.  You just can't believe how massive the chapel is
and how new it's construction looks.  You wonder how if these people live in

Passing through the great doors you enter into the chapel proper and are
amazed at the wealth shown here.  From the expensive chandeliers to the
plush carpet, this place fairly reeks of money, yet the people have none. 
The only thing you can think of is that they give all their money to the
church.  To either side of you pews are lined up in neat rows.

A small path through the underbrush~

You follow the small path managing to get yourself scratched up by the
bushes to either side of you quite nicely.  The path seems to continue west
to some sort of clearing from what you can tell.  The bushes on either side
of the path leave no room for deviation, so you can only continue foward or
back out.

The clearing~

The path lead directly to this small clearing among a a group of trees. 
Directly before you stand a magificent oak thats obviously very old.  It
stands quite a bit taller that all the other trees around it and has an air
of stately grace about it.  Looking up at it you think that if you try hard
enough you can reach the lowest most branches and climb up into it.  While
looking around you notice a small hole in the ground near the base of the
tree, probably belonging to some small forest creature.

Out along a branch~

travelling on it slightly dangerous.  The view from here is breathtaking as
the leaves begin to thin you can see the surrounding contryside in all it's
splendor.  The branch continues farther out and from ahead you can hear some
chittering noises.

The end of the branch~

You've come to the end of the branch, it narrows even more making it hard
to keep your balance.  The leaves are considerably thinner here showing you
an amazing view of the landscape.  A chittering sound attracts your
attention and for the first time you notice a small furry animal with large
eyes staring at you and chittering insanely.  Looking at it for a moment you
begin to wonder if that fur could be valuable...

The nest~

The branch ends here in what is probably the biggest birds nest you've
ever seen in your life.  As you begin to examine it you hear a loud screech
and the flapping of wings.  Looking around you see a hawk of awsome
proportions and can understand now why the nest is so big.  The hawk looks
at you with beady eyes and you wonder if you can get past it and make your
way out of here before it attacks you.

You step out on to a short, stubby branch and see leaves all about you. 
As you take stock of yourself and look around you see a pair of what looks
to be eyes staring out of the leaves at you.  You wonder if now might not be

decided you look like a meal.

This hut is in slightly better repair than all the others, and obviously
belongs to the foreman of this village.  But as you look around you notice

it can be that this village is so poor that even the foreman lives in
squallor.

Bushy branch~

The leaves are so thick here that you can hardly see anything around you
other than the branch itself.  From somewhere inside the leaves the croaking
sound gets louder, then all of a sudden a large tree frog leaps onto the
branch directly in front of you and croaks at you as you invade it's
territory.

You have reached the top of the tree and the view is absolutely amazing,
looking around you can see almost forever.  All of a sudden you notice a
wizened old man sitting in and among the branches staring at you silently.

Yep, this hole is definately has a resident.  You look down on the
enraged porcupine and wonder why you would crawl down into its den and

into a ball and throws itself at you!
