The streets are made of fine cobbles which are well-fitted by talented craftsmen. Overall, the city of Methidoral appears to be well taken care of, and the people seem to be wanting for little. Just because there are so many different people does not mean they live together in harmony, however. Great demons hulk over everyone, their piercing and fiery gazes sending pangs of fear into the most seasoned warrior. Occasionally, an even rarer humanoid is seen, like the slender and graceful elves of the forest, who cast a disdainful look upon all they meet. Overall, the mix of exotic peoples is astounding. Still others are pilgrims seeking holy enlightenment, and there are scholars seeking the knowledge of the sages. Ahead is the fountain plaza of Methidoral, which is a place of respite for road-weary travelers and is on the road to the temple of Methidoral. Among the throng of people are a significant number of the sick and the dying. They are probably being taken to the famed Hierophant of Methidoral in the hope that a miracle can be performed. ~ 0 0 1 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 25002 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 25019 S #25021 Onyx Street East~ ~ ~ To the west, you can see the fountain plaza and the many people which gather there. Coming out of the plaza can be seen many of the most devout religious men and women of the city. Covering their heads and refusing to speak with anyone, these religious fanatics speak only with their gods. The stench of the animals they sacrifice and burn is repugnant, and it clings to their clothes like a baby clings to its mother. ~ 0 0 1 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 25022 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 25002 S #25022 Onyx Street East~ ~ ~ The peaceful tranquility of Onyx Street is exploded in an instant as a fight breaks out between an adventurer of one clan and an adventurer of another. The citizens of Methidoral watch this development with bored disinterest; their only concern is staying out of the crossfire. These fights between clan members are usually to the death, and the open warfare between the clans is mostly ignored by the city, as long as none of its citizens get pulled into the frays. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 25023 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 25021 S #25023 Onyx Street East~ ~ ~ Onyx Street is peaceful here, and the crowds are thin enough that movement is easily accomplished. Here and there a loose cobble trips you up as you walk along, betraying the age of the street. Founded over a hundered years ago, Methidoral was originally a small dwelling of peasants who gathered together for protection against raiding bands. The crowds can be streaming in from the city gates to the east and from the fountain plaza to the west. The incredible number of people which visit Methidoral each day is astounding. The cobblestone streets resound with the sharp footsteps of the many travelers, and the utilitarian buildings which edge the street look warm and inviting. The economic diversity of the people living in Methidoral is striking. Women wearing expensive jewelry and splendid clothing are just as common as the beggars wearing rags and looking for their next meal. The houses here are made out of thick river stone and solid wood from the nearby forest. The roofs are thatched with tough marsh grasses, and the entire structure is whitewashed. Here and there, simple touches made by the inhabitants have distinguished the otherwise identical houses from each other. The only thing which can be found on this street are nondescript residences of the city's inhabitants. From the building on your right, you hear the squall of a young child. Her beauty is stunning, and you wonder what could possibly upset her so. From the inside of the house, you hear someone yelling at her. The people you meet in this area are rather seedy-looking, and it is no wonder. This is a rather baudy section of the city, complete with a popular tavern and an equally popular leather shop. The buildings here are new, but the constant abuse by unsavory characters make them look as old as the city itself. More than their size, the uniqueness of these houses sets them apart from the dwellings of common folk. If the consequences were not so harsh, you might consider teaching this child a lesson. Harming even a hair on his head would get you a one-way trip to the executioner, though. Sansibar's famous Magic Emporium is located in this small and bright building. The throng of people is almost impenetrable, and a great deal of pushing and shoving occurs as people try to get their business done. Adventurers seeking help on a dangerous quest or simply seeking companionship can find it for a price there. A few muscle-bound warriors can be seen bringing out a mage, and some of the weaker adventurers are renting out strong warriors. The neighborhood is happy, and crime is not a problem. It is a well-known fact that the majority of people living on Astral street are powerful adventurers.
