Atop a Clock Face~

What happened? Where are you? And most importantly, what time is it? A
swirling purple and black cloud surrounds you, amplifying the emptiness that
resonates in this area. Admist all of the clouds and haze, you find
yourself standing on the face of an enormous clock with a golden outer rim
and an illustrious silver face. There is an hour, minute and second hand on
this clock but they do not appear to be operating in normal fashion. In
fact, the hands seem to appear and reappear at different times without any
rhyme or reason. Even the second hand moves forward and backward without
any noticeable pattern. In the distance, you see a hooded figure seated
cross-legged where the 12 o'clock mark typically is placed.

Dawn of Time~

The swirling haze has cleared substantially and in its place is a
magnificent landscape showcasing ancient mountains, rivers and vegetation.
Through the remnants of the dark clouds you can make out the image of two
moons. This place must have existed far into the past, possibly when the
world as you know it first began. You are blocked from moving too far into
the world before you, probably to prevent any tampering with the temporal
continuum. However, you see several pulsing vortices before you, beckoning
you to approach, enter and see what lies ahead. There is also a portal at
your feet resonating with strong magic.

The Here and Now~

The purplish-black haze saturates the area once again, obscuring the
impressive landscape and skyscape that once surrounded you. In place of the
landscape and the vortices that once existed is a giant red gate extending
far up into the sky. The smell of blood permeates the air and powerful
magic pulses through your body. A message has been inscribed on the door in
every language known in the present world. Everything from dwarven to
gnomish to lizard has been scrawled on the massive gate bearing the same
message. Upon closer inspection, it clearly reads "Be Warned: The blood of
the present spills into the past and future." The only other exit is the
vortex to the west heading back into the loop.

A Window to the Past~

The purplish-black haze saturates the area once again, obscuring the
impressive landscape and skyscape that once surrounded you. The only
deviation from this suffocating haze is a silvery well sitting a couple of
yards from your feet. The well seems to be composed of a swirling silver
liquid, constantly shifting and, on occasion, forming a random image.
Encircling the pool of silver are hundreds of fossils from what seems like a
variety of animals. The individual bones have been fused together to form
one continuous ring around the silver well. A vortex stands behind you
heading back into the loop.

A Glimpse of the Future~

The purplish-black haze saturates the area once again, obscuring the
landscape and sky that once surrounded you. The only significant feature of
this strange area is an enormous portal looming in the sky before you. The
portal is framed on all sides by a strange metallic material. Strange
symbols or writing have been etched into the frame and emanate an eerie
glow. A ramp made of the same metallic substance extends from ground level
to the enormous portal. The only other exit you can see is back into the
loop.

Antechamber of the Past~
~
~
This chamber is dark and you seem to be floating among the black void.
In the distance and surrounding you are a number of stars. But they do not
appear to resemble any night sky that you have ever seen before. Perhaps it
is the heavens of the past? Toward the center of the dark chamber is a
enormous blue orb, glowing and pulsating with temporal energy. Hovering
over the orb is a old man wearing an earthen brown robe, his eyes fixated on
the orb. Two beams of light emanate from opposite sides of the orb,
creating doorways to the east and west.

A Stone Sanctuary~
~
~
This area is surrounded on almost all sides by high rock faces. There is
a small mountain pass to the west that is barely wide enough for a creature
to move through without too much trouble. Erosion and natural phenonmenon
has taken its toll on the surrounding mountains, chipping off large and
small chunks of rock and casting them to the ground, forming no particular
pattern. One particularly large boulder sits in the northeast corner of
this sanctuary and sitting atop of the rock is a creature you have never
seen before. It is unusually quiet without even the whisper of wind to
disturb the peace.

A Mountain Pass~
~
~
Looking up, the mountains on either side of you extend toward the sky for
several thousand feet. The tops of the peaks are obscured by heavy clouds.
You can make out several creatures flying about at very high altitudes
around the peak of the mountains. The sides of the mountains are quite
smooth and does not provide many crevices with which to climb. A variety of
bones lay on this narrow path between the mountains and some appear to have
been around for quite a long time, having been obscured by layers of dirt.
There are sounds originating from the west that suggest some form of life
exists.

Edge of a Mountain Pass~
~
~
The mountain pass widens substantially at this point and opens to the
outskirts of a dense prehistoric forest. The trees are enormous and reach
for probably a few hundred feet toward the sky. The dirt and gravel of the
pass slowly disappear around you and vegetation begins to be much more
abundant. The ground slightly trembles ever so often, its origins unknown.
The temperature is rather cool and there is a slight breeze coming from
within the mountain pass. In the distance, you can make out some large
moving forms, but cannot quite ascertain what type of creature resides here.

Edge of a Dense Forest~
~
~
The vegetation has subsided somewhat to allow the dirt and gravel and
majestic peaks of a mountain range to settle in to the east. A mountain
pass has been formed by two towering peaks to the east. Looking down the
eastern pass, you are not able to see much as a dark haze seems to cloud
your vision. An enormous log has fallen into the river at this eastern
point and allows you to cross to the north.

A Riverside Path~
~
~
A river cascades down from the mountains to the east and forms a small
winding river in the middle of the dense forest. It is a welcome break from
the dense vegetation that otherwise exists in this area. Creatures of all
sizes approach the river to quench their thirst and take a break in the hot
morning sun. This river also appears to be some kind of dividing line as
the north end of the forest exudes a dark ominous wave. A much calmer and
more relaxing feeling encompasses you on the southern banks of the river.

Western End of the River~
~
~
The river ends at this western point, creating a small lake for creatures
to bathe and cool off during warm days. Swooping down from high above are
bird-like creatures attempting to catch prey in the river and feed their
young. The forest continues far beyond what you can see all around you.
Shadowy figures move slowly through the forest, once again making the ground
tremble. The dense forest continues to the west and the east. The river
continues its path to the east and the lake continues a little farther to
the north.

Northwest End of a River~
~
~
The river ends here, forming a very small lake at the western end. In
fact, the lake is so small, only one large creature is able to bathe at a
time, creating a very hostile environment around here. Bird-like creatures
swoop down from high above to catch their daily food from the river at
lightning fast speeds. The forest appears to continue in all directions.

A Riverside Path~
~
~
The forest breaks to the south allowing just enough room for a river
originating from the mountains to the east to run through unimpeded.
Several creatures stand at the banks of the rivers lapping up water to
satisfy their thirst. The water is a crystal blue and you are able to see
the aquatic life very clearly. You cannot see very much around you as the
number and size of the trees limits the visibility significantly. The
ground continues to tremble occasionally, disturbing the calm flow of the
clear blue water.

Forest Edge~
~
~
While the trees and other vegetations has not at all dissipated, the
eastern edge of the forest is met by treacherous cliff faces. Nature seems
to be battling itself as tree roots extend into the cliff faces, fighting
for more ground against the relentless mountains. Small holes in the ground
provide hiding places for tiny critters running around looking for food.
The edge of the forest continues north, but beyond that you can only go
deeper into the forest toward the west.
