You cannot bring yourself to even think of the events that could have conspired to transform this peaceful province into the waste that now lies before you. However, in the back of your mind, you have a feeling that the answers lie within the large, dark castle that looms above the horizon. To the north, you see the beginnings of an old cobblestone road. ~ 0 536870916 1 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9309 S #9301 Intersection of Morphock and Keriok~ ~ ~ You find yourself involuntarily darting your eyes from side to side and nervously jumping at every slight noise. Even though you have only been here for but a short time, you're beginning to notice a disturbing trend among the local citizenry. Namely, all of them have been twisted somehow by the forces of chaos that permeate this city. Some are slight, such as pale skin and slightly enlarged or distorted physical features. Others are more pronounced, so much so that you can barely look upon them without fleeing in terror. You notice what appears to be a very large, black pillar of flame emanating from the roof of a dilapidated building. Something inside you wishes to investigate this curiosity. The area is very quiet and still. It seems as if even lower creatures dare not approach this edifice. The black pillar of flame you observed in the distance now appears as a raging bonfire hovering just above the church's rooftop. The force of chaos is almost palpable here and, even though you exert all of your will to fight it, you feel it urging you inside of the church. Regardless of the time of day, it appears as if this place is in a perpetual state of twilight. The sky does not brighten or darken, and neither the moon or the sun deigns to occupy their rightful place in the heavens. The only sources of light in the city seem to come from strange crystal orbs that line the streets much like lampposts. However, something in the back of your mind tells you that the baleful green light that they emit is not exactly all that healthy. Some of the local citizens seem to be taking more notice of you. You overhear them snickering about something as you pass them by. Perhaps you are the butt of some private joke. No matter where you look, all you can see are broken homes, chaotically warped bodies, and the relics of what you believe to be a once beautiful city. Composing yourself, you notice that you have arrived at the intersection of Morphock Lane and Venerable Way. To the east you see what was once Relfaust's commerce district. To the west, you see several large buildings, one of which looks like a seashell. Morphock Lane continues to the north. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9307 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9323 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9305 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9328 S #9307 Nearing Morimir Castle~ ~ ~ The locals are starting to take a decidedly unhealthy interest in you. You can hear some of them sneering in your direction, while others are gesticulating wildly and motioning for you to quickly take your leave. Ignoring them you look forward, catching a glimpse of the massive stone castle that you observed near the city entrance. For a brief moment, you feel an alien presence in your mind. The presence soon retreats as you make your way to the castle's entrance. ~ 0 536870912 1 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9308 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9306 S #9308 Entrance to Castle Morimir~ ~ ~ The atmosphere of this place becomes even more oppressive the closer you get to the castle. A signpost beside the road reads 'Castle Morimir' and something else in an unknown language. You barely have time to ponder this before you are accosted by two very large men dressed in jet black legionaire's armor. It seems as if they have been at their posts for longer than you have been alive. The farther you travel, the more you notice the remarkable state of disrepair that this city is in. Looking at a rotten wooden signpost, you see that you are currently on Morphock Lane South. You also notice that there are a few more people milling about the street. It does not take you long to realize that the ground is saturated with blood, most of it congealing upon the steps of a large Romanesque stadium. The sounds of battle reverberate within its cracked, marble walls along with the pitiful wails of fallen warriors. The entrance to the Stadium lies to the north while Rainard Terrace continues to the east. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9313 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9314 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9311 S #9313 Stadium Main Hall~ ~ ~ Raucous laughter and squeals of pain fill the hallway. The alabaster walls are stained in varying hues of red. The incessant clamor of metal against metal emanates from the archways to your left and right while you can hear a barely inaudible growl coming from the north. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9356 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9355 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9312 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9354 S #9314 Rainard Terrace~ ~ ~ The sounds of battle are quickly drowned out by those of very loud thunderclaps. Streaks of blue lightning dance across the sky, forming the shapes of elaborate pentagrams and other arcane sigils. You feel a strong concentration of chaotic energies to the east. A slight tingling sensation races up and down your spine as you decide whether to press on or fall back. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9315 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9312 S #9315 Before the Infernal Spire~ ~ ~ The air here is thick with the pungent aroma of sulfer and freshly burned pitch. With watery eyes, you see that before you is a tall, cylindrical tower the color of the darkest midnight. Tendrils of blue energy race down its ebon walls, finally slamming into the ground and radiating outward. It is of no wonder that you can find no evidence of flora or fauna anywhere near this place. Indeed, the very earth has taken on a dark, unholy appearance. The entrance to this bastion of chaos lies east, behind two very large iron doors. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9357 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9314 S #9316 Tashara Avenue~ ~ ~ The cobblestone path transforms into a smooth red brick road. The multitude of small cottages and log cabins that dot the landscape indicates that this must be Relfaust's residential district. A white signpost states that the name of this street is Tashara Avenue. The road continues to the west. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9304 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9317 S #9317 Community Circle~ ~ ~ Tashara Avenue widens a bit here. A fallen brown signpost reads 'Community Square: All Visitors Welcome'. You cannot quite put your finger on it, but you feel a little more at ease here. The omnipresent chaotic force does not seem to be as strong here for some reason. You also notice that very few locals wish to come this way, as evident by the grimaces on their faces when they look your way. There are three paths here. The path to the north leads to a small log cabin, while the path to the south leads to a large manor. The path to the west leads to a large meeting hall. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9319 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9316 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9318 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9320 S #9318 Before a Large Manor~ ~ ~ This path ends before a very prestigous manor house. You notice that the grounds are exceptionally well taken care of. Whoever lives, or once lived here must be quite a wealthy and influential citizen. You rapt the hawk-shaped silver door knocker several times, but no one answers. Testing the door you find that is unlocked, allowing easy access inside this grand estate. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9317 D2 ~ ~ 3 0 9346 S #9319 Before a Small Cabin~ ~ ~ The path ends before a small log cabin nestled beside a suprisingly beautiful forest lake. Kudzu vines hang precariously down the sides of the cabin while other plant growth pushes its way up through the cabin's wooden deck. The front door appears to be unlocked. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 3 0 9345 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9317 S #9320 Before The Meeting Lodge~ ~ ~ You follow the western path until you come to a very large wooden lodge. The windows of this lodge have been boarded up and it appears that the only entrance has been nailed shut. Nothing short of phasing through the door or bashing it down will allow entry into this place. For a brief moment you hear the sounds of movement coming from within the lodge, but then it ceases. The path you are on continues to the west towards a large statue. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 23 0 9352 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9317 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9321 S #9321 Tashara Avenue~ ~ ~ The closer you come to the statue, the more a feeling of peace and tranquility passes over you. At this point, you have no doubt in your mind that this is the reason that the locals are loathe to come this way. For the first time during your visit to this province, you feel almost totally at ease. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9320 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9322 S #9322 Tashara's Memorial~ ~ ~ You gaze in awe at a seven meter tall, pure golden statue resting atop a marble, cubic base. It appears to be that of an attractive, long-haired female human no more than 19 years of age. She is depicted in a meditative stance, adorned with the robes and wooden circlet of a druid. An ingraving on the statue's base reads 'In Memoriam De Tashara ab Green Leaf'. As you gaze at the statue, you are filled with a sense of peace and safety. ~ 0 2098176 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9321 S #9323 Venerable Way East~ ~ ~ Relfaust's commerce district has definitely witnessed better days. Refuse literally covers the street to point that it is impossible to see the road itself. Most of the buildings this way are in even poorer condition than the rest of the province. Some are threatening to collapse at a moment's notice. The locals here regard you with disdain as they mill about the street buying rotten food and broken products. The trail of trash extends eastward towards a large crowd of people. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9324 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9306 S #9324 Venerable East~ ~ ~ The number of locals increases dramatically here. It is all that you can do to prevent being pushed to the ground and trampled upon. You notice that a majority of them seem to be pouring out of a fairly large hut southward. To the north, you spy a dilapidated brick building with the word 'Bank' scrawled in black paint above the entrance. The crowd of locals seems to thin a bit towards the east. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9335 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9325 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9336 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9323 S #9325 Venerable East~ ~ ~ In stark contrast to the hustle and bustle prevalent towards the west, this section of Venerable Way is almost deserted. The pile of trash and refuse also thins a bit here and there, allowing brief glimpses of the dry dirt road beneath. Glancing to the north and south, you see two small brick buildings. Both appear to have been desecrated beyond any hope of repair. Judging buy what is left of their entrances, the northern building was once a weapon's shop while the southern building was once an armory. Venerable Way continues to the east. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9337 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9327 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9338 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9324 S #9326 Wall~ ~ ~ You find yourself standing before a three meter high, granite wall. You begin to question your senses, as you are positive that this wall did not exist a few moments ago. While you ponder the situation, two very large humanoid creatures composed of granite step out of the wall and take positions on opposite sides of you. They turn their spherical heads toward you and although their faces are featureless, you have a strong feeling that they are not at all happy to see you. There is a small crack in the wall that vaguely resembles a keyhole. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9328 D3 ~ ~ 119 9310 9329 S #9327 Before Chanry De Al'asad~ ~ ~ Venerable Way ends before a small restaurant called Chantry De Al'asad. The building itself is reminiscent of a gothic cathedral, the dark granite walls and various outcroppings giving it the appearance of a perched gargoyle. The aroma of barbecued meat permeates the air, possessing a distinct flavor that you can't quite place at the moment. At any rate, it merits investigation, if only for the sole purpose of acquiring a well-deserved meal and some rest. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9339 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9325 S #9328 Venerable Way West~ ~ ~ This area of the city seems to be in almost pristine condition. The buildings do not have the battle scarred, condemned appearance prevalent throughout the rest of the city and the road appears to be uniform and well cleaned. Even the locals here do not express the taint of chaos to the degree of their brethren elswhere. The road continues to the west. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9306 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9326 S #9329 Venerable Way west~ ~ ~ You continue westward along Venerable Way, all the while admiring the complex architecture of the buildings prevalent here. Amazingly, they all seem to have been molded from the ground up, much like a sand castle. Their features are all seamless and if it were not for the paint, it would be almost impossible to tell where the ground ends and the actual edifices themselves begin. The well paved road you are on continues to the west while to the north you spot an unnaturally dark alleyway. ~ 0 131074 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9330 D1 ~ ~ 119 9310 9326 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9331 S #9330 Truly Dead End~ ~ ~ You are assaulted by the overwhelming stench of death and decay. Numerous desecated body parts lie strewn about the ground, blood and viscera cover the walls. Near the back of the alley, you can hear a high-pitched whine. Moments later, you hear a shuffling noise and see that several of the body parts are moving in your direction. This does not bode well.... ~ 0 131074 0 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9329 S #9331 Before The Opera House~ ~ ~ You find yourself standing before a large building that bears an uncanny resemblance to a conch shell. The exterior is a dull gray ivory, almost the color of a spring stormcloud. A mural located beside the entrance depicts a beautiful, blonde woman performing before a crowd of attentive people. Below the mural, a sign printed in silver letters reads 'Relfaust Opera-Night Performances Only'. The road continues west. ~ 0 131074 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9398 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9329 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9332 S #9332 The Governor's House~ ~ ~ The road comes to an abrupt end before a miniature citadel. There are almost no locals on the street here, which no doubt has something to do with the gigantic humanoid pacing back and forth before the citadel's entrance. It soon becomes evident that a very influential and wealthy indvidual must reside here. The large figure ceases his pacing and strides toward you, motioning for you to leave. As you gaze at his gigantic features, something in the back of your mind tells you that leaving might not be such a bad idea. ~ 0 131074 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9331 D3 ~ ~ 3 0 9333 S #9333 A Short Hallway~ ~ ~ Gilded statues of exotic beasts stand in eternal vigilance next to ornately designed, stained-glass windows. A monochromatic mural of a gigantic mountain hawk dominates the westernmost wall. Despite the splendor that lies before you, there is an overbearing sense of longing and despair present here. Faded tapestries of beautiful sunlit fields of flowers hang prominently on the walls, completely in defiance of the drabness that pervades the rest of the city. Strangely, all of the pieces of furniture here appear to have been literally molded out of the walls or up from the floor. Near the back of the room behind a dark gray slab sits a morose, middle-aged, male human. ~ 0 131082 0 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9333 S #9335 Relfaust Bank~ ~ ~ This place is more akin to a mausoleum than a bank. All is deathly quiet, save for the slight scratching sound made by the quil pen of an elder financier. He seems to be deeply involved in settling accounts, barely giving notice to your unannounced intrusion. ~ 0 16777224 0 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9324 S #9336 Veshek's Bazaar~ ~ ~ Several people file past you as you make your way inside the hut. A tattered cloth banner with the name 'Veshek' scrawled on it hangs limply from the ceiling. Multicolored hemp ropes cordon off the area into many smaller subsections, each filled with bags of exotic spices, flasks of various liquids and potions, and other food stuffs from around the world. A large rectangular iron safe sits at the far end of the hut, beside which stands a devious, portly orc counting a pile of freshly collected gold coins. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9324 S #9337 Desecrated Armory~ ~ ~ This shop has long since been abandoned. The cracked, blood stained brick walls are completely bare save for the shadowy outlines of shields and breastplates that were once displayed on them. The rest of the shop is completely barren with the exception of a large, oblong marble chest sitting in the middle of the room. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9325 S #9338 Desecrated Weapon Shop~ ~ ~ Shards of glass and bits of charred wood and brick litter the floor. Several sections of the back wall have large scorch marks on them and, in some areas, have been completely punched through. Any weapons that may have been housed here are long gone. Indeed, the only object here that is still in one piece is an oddly marked, oblong marble chest. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9325 S #9339 Chantry Lower Level~ ~ ~ The inside of the the restaurant is no more inviting than the outside. Ominous shadows dance about in the dim torch light while music befitting a funeral procession plays in the background. There are many tables here, however, only a scant few seem to be occupied at the moment. There is a set of stairs here that lead to the Chantry's upper level. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9327 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 9340 S #9340 Chantry Upper Level~ ~ ~ Even though there is better lighting here, the restaurant's upper level is just as depressing as the lower level. There are mostly two-person booths here, although few are occupied by more than one person. All of the patrons seem to be lost deep in thought. Their dead-pan faces indicate that none are too happy to be here. To the west, you spy a dark elven bartender mixing drinks. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9341 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 9339 S #9341 Chantry Bar~ ~ ~ The Bar seems to contain more customers than the restaurant's upper and lower levels combined. Quite a few of them appear to be completely intoxicated. You are hardly surprised, seeing as how the wall behind the bar is filled with a multitude of unlabled bottles and spice bags. As you stare on, the dark elven bartender approaches you with a decidedly wicked grin on his face. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9340 S #9342 The Auditorium~ ~ ~ It looks as if half of the city has gathered here. All of the seats seem to be taken save for a few in the very back. The floor dips considerably, allowing you to peer over the crowd and view the stage, which is currently occupied by a female dressed in a seductive twilight blue evening gown. Her hypnotic voice resonates throughout the auditorium, lulling the crowd into a deep state of torpor. She approaches you as she nears the final stanza, a devilish grin creeping across her face. ~ 0 131082 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9342 S #9344 The Balcony~ ~ ~ Only the wealthiest and most influential citizens can afford these seats. High above the "commoners", the elite snicker amongst themselves and exchange private jokes directed at those they deem beneath them. You begin to wonder why they would pay so much for a show ticket, yet not pay any attention to the performance. A few of them turn in your direction and sneer while the others cease their conversations and motion for you to leave. ~ 0 131074 0 Rd 0 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 9342 S #9345 Inside the Cabin~ ~ ~ This place is sparsely furnished, yet has a uniquely livable feel about it. Judging by the markings on the floor and the numerous measuring tools and mixing bowls lying about, a great sage onced lived here. Apparently he or she left in quite a hurry as several of their notes and charts lay strewn about the room. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 3 0 9319 S #9346 Manor Main Hall~ ~ ~ No one has ventured here for a long time, as evident by the thick coating of dust covering everything. Nevertheless, this place is extremely well furnished. Gold and silver lantern holders line the walls and expensive crystal figurines sit atop handcrafted mahogany stands. An impressive chandelier hangs from the ceiling, it's dazzling crystals sparkle even in the room's dim lighting. Before you stretches an exceptionally long, polished oak dining table. Each seat has a set of eating utensils meticulously arranged before it. Evidently, the manor's previous occupant was expecting to host a rather exquisite feast for a very long guest list. You look about the room and glimpse several large portraits lining the walls. Most of them are faded beyond recognition, although the one near the head of the table still manages to catch your attention. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9346 S #9348 Kitchen~ ~ ~ With the exception of the many dust balls and cobwebs lying about, the kitchen appears very neat and orderly. A large wood stove takes up most of the back wall, with a dish basin and variable-sized cupboards taking up the rest. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9346 S #9349 Upstairs~ ~ ~ You make your way up the velvet carpeted staircase to the second floor. There is a relatively short hallway here adorned with ornate tapestries and intricate pieces of art. Near the back of the room is an oval, wooden desk with piles of sealed scrolls lying neatly on top of it. You notice that some of those seals are familar, especially the ones from Methidoral, StoneGate Castle and Aurum. A few of the other seals appear incredibly worn, as if they have been sitting on this desk for well over a century. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 3 0 9349 S #9351 Master Bedroom~ ~ ~ You enter into a fabulously large bedroom. Even though dust covers everything and cobwebs are everywhere, this room is nonetheless fit for a king. The ceiling is a multicolor stained-glass skyligt. You briefly imagine how this room must have appeared during a bright, sunny day. Vibrant colors would dance about the room, giving one the feeling of living within a kaleidoscope. A huge, plush bed with goose feather pillows occupies the center of the room while extravagant mahogany dressers and chairs take up the rest. You are sorely tempted to take a brief rest here, however, your better judgement dictates otherwise. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 3 0 9349 S #9352 Inside the Meeting Lodge~ ~ ~ You force your way through the door, entering a large room filled with broken furniture and piles of trash. This place looks as if it were the first to be pillaged by agents of chaos that ransacked the rest of the town. Or so it seems. You notice that the debris is just a bit too orderly, almost as if it were arranged to hide something. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 23 0 9320 D5 ~ ~ 512 0 9391 S #9353 The Domain of Klavius~ ~ ~ Piles of jewels and gold coins lay on the ground before you. Golden statues of warriors stand beside a small crater filled with mud. Your hopes of making off with a portion of this treasure trove are dashed to pieces when you finally notice the hulking, extremely well armed minotaur sitting on a gigantic throne near the center of the room. He eyes you closely, just itching to start a fight. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9356 S #9354 A Shadow Filled Room~ ~ ~ You tread carefully into this dimly lit room. All is deathly quiet, save for a slight murmuring originating somewhere in the darkness. This murmuring suddenly cease the moment you see two eyes, glowing red like burning coals, rushing toward you. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9313 S #9355 A Packed Arena~ ~ ~ You enter into a small, enclosed arena. The place is filled to the brim with the local citizenry, most of them frothing at the mouth and screeching for blood. In the distance you see a slender figure picking off a fellow combatant. Once done, the figure looks your way. The crowd goes wild... ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9313 S #9356 North Hall~ ~ ~ A gruesome theme rears its ugly head the farther you walk down this hallway. At first, you notice several pieces of dented armor hanging precariously on the walls. However, they quickly progress into whole suits of dented war armor. When you finally arrive at the jet black archway leading to the guildmaster's office, you see two mummified corpses staked to either side of the archway. You get the impression that whoever or whatever lies behind that archway does not take kindly to visitors. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9353 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9313 S #9357 Base of the Tower~ ~ ~ The interior of the spire radiates raw, chaotic power. The walls pulsate with energy, giving them a uniquely organic property. Oddly enough, this place seems to be much more spacious inside than without. Be it a trick of light or some unknown aspect of the tower itself, you cannot tell. Glancing about the room, you see that there are three distinctly strange doors embedded in the wall above you, HIGH above you. There are no stairs leading up to these doors, nor do you spot any way to climb the walls' incredibly smooth black surface. It is a simple oaken door with a golden plaque in the shape of a book nailed to it. In the back of your mind, something tells you that whatever is behind this door is not as harmless as you are being led to believe. Resting yourself, you stare at the fresco on the tower's ceiling. It depicts a rather grim account of the construction of this tower. You view images of beings from distant, chaotic realms enslaving innocent souls and then sacrificing them to their dark masters. You turn away, focusing your attention on the large heavy iron door that looms in front of you. Approaching it, you are stopped dead in your tracks by the appearance of a genderless, humanoid face within the center of the door. The face stares at you with crimson eyes, seemingly peering into your very soul. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 3 0 9360 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 9358 S #9360 Danielle's Haven~ ~ ~ A blast of cold air rushes by you, chilling you to the very bone. The entire area is smothered in darkness, the only illumination stems from a pillar of blueish-black flame in the center of the room. As you look closer, you can barely make out the ephemeral forms of various beings floating about within it. They all appear to be in great pain, their low moans and wails reverberate throughout the room sending shivers up your spine. Floating beside the ghostly pillar of flame is a young human woman adorned in a blood red robe and saccloth black cloak covered in arcane runes. You sense very powerful chaotic energy emanating from her. She turns her head towards you and smiles, barring two long and very sharp fangs. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 3 0 9359 S #9361 Grand Library~ ~ ~ The walls are lined with bookcase upon bookcase of thick, musty tomes. A single oaken table in the center of the room overflows with various scrolls and parchments. You speculate that it would take someone at least a decade to just browse through them all. Just as you are about to pick up a book and flip through it, you hear a slight fluttering noise coming from behind. Swiftly spinning around, you come face to face with a very elderly elven woman. Judging by her angry visage, she is not too pleased by your presence here. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 3 0 9358 S #9362 The First Door~ ~ ~ You slowly float before the first door, which is more or less a gigantic mosaic composed of dented shields and various bits of used armor. Upon closer inspection, you see several large blood stains on the door. Many of these stains center around puncture holes on the armor pieces, others appear near the areas where the pieces have been welded together. You notice that some of them are quite fresh, a few are even dripping. You shiver slightly as you decide whether to continue upward or brave whatever lies behind this gruesome piece of art. ~ 0 33554440 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 3 0 9399 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 9358 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 9357 S #9363 Within the Church~ ~ ~ The inside of the church is meticulously clean yet sparsly furnished. A plaque on the back wall reads 'Church of the Great Light'. How ironic, seeing as how the entire place is bathed in shadows. In the center of the room, there is a very large black sphere floating above a stone altar enscribed in arcane runes. Chaotic energy radiates from the altar, coursing through your entire being. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9303 S #9364 Entrance Hall~ ~ ~ A thick, dark mist rolls about the hall. Although it is spacious and well lit, you cannot help feeling stifled and closed-in. An indescribable darkness pervades this castle, and you can sense that it has immense power. From here, you see a smaller hallway branching off to east. The main hallway continues to the north. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9369 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9390 D2 ~ ~ 3 0 9308 S #9365 A Cramped Dungeon~ ~ ~ As you descend the staircase, the laughter and moans are replaced by hushed voices and exceedingly loud snoring. At the bottom of the staircase you see an armored orcish guard leaning against the dank dungeon wall. He is deep asleep, although his snoring is loud enough to wake the dead. To the east lies a dingy cell in which a young lady dressed in rags sits cowering in the back corner. To the west lies a similar cell in which a regal, very surly feline warrior stands chained to the back wall. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 117 9308 9366 D3 ~ ~ 7 9308 9368 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 9390 S #9366 Lara's Cell~ ~ ~ A pile of compressed hay and a dirty blanket are the only comforts provided in this cell. A pool of muddy water lies stagnant near the left wall along with the remnants of a half-eaten, moldy loaf of bread. The young lady held prisoner here eyes you hesitantly, a mix of both wonder and fear etched on her face as she cringes in the back corner of the cell. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 117 0 9365 S #9367 West Wing~ ~ ~ Childish scriblings written in a crimson substance cover the walls. The oppressive, dark atmosphere of the castle grows with each step westward, along with the sounds of innocent, child-like giggling. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9370 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9373 S #9368 Mehiyon's Cell~ ~ ~ This cell is completely devoid of any other trappings, save for the shackles barely containing the muscular, yet lithe form of an elder feline warrior. His body hangs limp against the cold stone wall, yet his face is ablaze with the fires of resistance. The warrior stares your way, bracing himself for anything you have to offer. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 7 0 9365 S #9369 Main Hall~ ~ ~ The castle walls darken noticeably here. Segmented granite wall blocks begin to mesh together forming a smooth, monolithic gray substance. There is little in the way of furnishings or decorations here, although you can make out the faint etchings of what perhaps was once a mural or fresca. Something in your mind tells you that it has been a long time since this place has witnessed anything in the way of light or beauty. The hallway continues to the north. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9370 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9364 S #9370 Main Hall Intersection~ ~ ~ The Main Hall splits into three directions here. To the east, you see a dull bluish glow that somehow feels quite out of place in this castle. To the west, the hallway narrows a bit. Several high-pitched squeals emanate from that direction that send shivers up your spine. A distinct, almost tangible darkness lies in the hallway to the north. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9372 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9371 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9369 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9367 S #9371 East Wing~ ~ ~ The castle walls take on extremely odd properties here. Instead of the tarry, gray substance covering the other areas, the walls here have a crystaline, prismatic appearance. It also seems more peaceful here than in other areas of the castle. The soft blue glow you noticed earlier increases further east. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9376 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9370 S #9372 Before A Dark Archway~ ~ ~ You find yourself standing before a gigantic archway that has been sealed by a black slab of smooth rock. The runic symbols carved on the slab plus the eerie, cold feeling you get when you touch it, indicate that this is a magical barrier designed to keep outsiders away. Beside the archway is a swirling vortex of smoke along with a simple, golden plaque. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 119 9307 9379 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9370 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9380 S #9373 End of the Hall~ ~ ~ Soft mumblings intermixed with hushed whispers urge you to turn back. In several instances you swear that you can make out the faint outlines of faces extruding from the walls. However, when you dare to examine closer, you see only the same tarry, gray substance that covers the rest of the walls in this place. The hallway ends here, with rooms lying to the north and south. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9375 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9367 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9374 S #9374 The Nursery~ ~ ~ You enter into a windowless room with three small beds lined in a perfect row. The area is quite dim, a single weak torch providing the only illumination. The squealing you heard earlier has since ceased, much to the relief of your throbbing eardrum. Just as if it seems that this room has nothing to offer, you notice movement in a darkened back corner. Emerging literally out of the shadows are three human toddlers, all of which possess decidedly grotesque, animalistic features. The eldest one among them stares at you, a look of hunger creeping across it cat-like eyes. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 9373 S #9375 Prince Voorhan's Room~ ~ ~ An icy draft slithers past as you move into this room. Intricately fashioned pieces of furniture line the walls while a colossal, four poster bed occupies nearly all of the back wall. A massive tinted window takes up most of the left wall, offering a bird's-eye-view of the bleak cityscape of Relfaust. A solitary figure adorned in faded princely regalia stands brooding before the window. He briefly glances in your direction, regarding you with a pronounced air of detachment. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9373 S #9376 Sanctuary~ ~ ~ You enter a room bathed in a soft, sky-blue glow. This glow seems to radiate from the crystal statues of a man and woman dressed in regal garb. Their faces are resolute, in stark defiance of the chaotic force that has overrun this province. As you look on, a soothing warmth passes through your body imparting upon you an incredible sense of safety and peace. It appears that this room is infrequently used by the denizens of the castle. ~ 0 1036 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9371 S #9377 Underground Tunnel East~ ~ ~ The farther east you travel, the more you feel the resurgence of the chaotic force within the city. The familiar feelings of doom and dread take root within your mind once more. You continue forward, knowing that there is no turning back now. ~ 0 1036 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9397 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9396 S #9379 The Grand Throne Room~ ~ ~ A grand throne room, the largest you have ever seen, expands before you. Crystal statues of castle stewards, armored guards, and visitors hailing from a variety of different realms stand scattered about. Although the style of clothing and stances are many and varied, all of the statues possess expressions of absolute horror on their faces. As you look on, a flash of red lightning arcs by you followed by a booming thunderclap. You literally feel the force of chaos gather and congeal in front of you, finally forming a humanoid figure wearing a midnight black, satin mantle. The figure merely points to you, bidding you to step forward. Try as you might, you find it impossible to resist. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 119 0 9372 S #9380 The Grand Archive~ ~ ~ Tables filled with magical artifacts and bookcases lined with ancient texts occupy most of the room. It seems that most of the spoils of the inumerable raids on the city have made their way here. You notice quite a few piles of gold and other trinkets near the back wall, along with a stunning set of armor floating lazily in a blue pillar of light. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9372 S #9381 The Chaotic Abyss~ ~ ~ You careen through an oscillating tunnel of dark smoke, finally crashing through a thick membrane of shadows. Your senses are assaulted by disconnected sounds, flashes of black lightning against tumultuous thunderheads, and stale air that is barely breathable and energizing at the same time. You feel as if you are free-falling at breakneck speed yet, simultaneously, being held steadfast in place. After a few moments, you focus your thoughts enough to spy four doors lying in all four compass directions. The air is quite stale, reeking of minerals and processed ore. Suits of armor made of various materials and in a variety of styles line the walls. They all appear to be very ancient in design, although none are readily identifiable. You hear a loud, clanging noise originating from the north. The walls are made of a dark, cold substance similar to that of shale or obsidian. You find yourself at the entrance of what appears to be a very large cave. The entropic storms of the chaotic abyss thunder furiously overhead. The closer you move towards the center of the cave, the more pronounced this sound becomes. When you finally arrive at the cave's center, you are greeted by a decidedly eerie sight. Amidst a sea of mummified bodies sits a relatively slender werewolf with matted, pale white fur. It appears to be gnawing on the neck of a previous catch. The all have horrible looks of pain on their faces, quite a few of them even cry out for your help. Floating above the pool is a very powerful-looking demon. Just when you think that you can no longer continue, you are beset upon by a titanic, sliver wyrm. Behind it you spy another vortex of black clouds. Scores of armor plates and slivers of metal lay strewn about area. You spot a vortex of dark clouds floating above a large pile of discarded suits of armor. As you make your way to it, you notice the suits of armor begin to shift ever so slightly. Moments later, you hear a loud crash behind you. You hear several moans of pain mingled with whip cracks and rattling chains. As you rise to your feet, you hear the chittering of hushed voices behind you. When your eyes finally adjust to the dim, torchlit cavern, you see several small children gathered about you. The scattered looks of bewilderment about their faces tells you that they have not seen outside visitors for quite some time. Amazingly, they display no signs of the chaotic taint that has infected the locals above ground. It comes to no big surprise that you see several small beds with young children napping in them. The few that are awake gasp as you enter, but then they giggle and ask you to join in the game of hide-and-seek that you interrupted. Several other children begin to crowd around you, asking you various questions about the world above. ~ 0 1032 0 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 9391 S #9393 Council Cavern~ ~ ~ Numerous torches light up this spacious cavern which is filled with over thirty adults of various ages. They fail to notice your intrusion, mainly due to the fact that they seem to be discussing the formation of groups to raid the city above ground for food and other desperately needed supplies. There appears to be a lot of debate on the subject as four previous groups have been lost within the last two weeks. Keeping your distance, you listen in on the arguments, silently hoping that they decide not to turn on you. ~ 0 1032 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 9391 S #9394 Elder's Room~ ~ ~ The cavern here is filled with the aroma of freshly burned incense. Animal wax candles illuminate the area just enough to read by. Sitting in the center of the room is an elderly woman who is in the midst of an exceedingly long and complicated litany. Every so often she glances at you and smiles, instilling within you a strong feeling of peace and tranquility. ~ 0 1032 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 9391 S #9395 Underground Barricade~ ~ ~ The southern tunnel leads you to a gigantic iron wall covered in ancient runes and sigils, presumably warding it against magical and physical intrusion. Pacing the area in front of the wall is a large, brutish looking male ogre. Several weak torches line the tunnel walls, allowing you to just barely see your way. A shaft of baleful green light shines down on you from a pinprick hole above. Looking up, you see one of the large green orbs along with a sign that reads 'Morphock Lane South'. High, concave walls join each other at a slender rectangular ceiling. Several curved support bars extend from the ceiling and run down the walls, giving you the unnerving feeling of walking about in a gigantic ribcage. Beside the forge lies a stone table containing a multitude of armors, weapons, and other bizarre metal constructions. As you are catching your breath, you are approched by a wizened old dwarf attired in jet black plate armor.
