The minute you force your way through the large iron gates guarding the
small town of Relfaust, you are immediately beset by feelings of utter dread
and doom.  You cannot bring yourself to even think of the events that could
have conspired to transform this peaceful province into the waste that now
lies before you.  However, in the back of your mind, you have a feeling that
the answers lie within the large, dark castle that looms above the horizon. 
To the north, you see the beginnings of an old cobblestone road.

You find yourself involuntarily darting your eyes from side to side and
nervously jumping at every slight noise.  Even though you have only been
here for but a short time, you're beginning to notice a disturbing trend
among the local citizenry.  Namely, all of them have been twisted somehow by
the forces of chaos that permeate this city.  Some are slight, such as pale
skin and slightly enlarged or distorted physical features.  Others are more
pronounced, so much so that you can barely look upon them without fleeing in
terror.  Spying a bent signpost, you see that Morphock Lane continues to the
north towards the town square while Keriock Drive lies to the east.

Oddly enough, this street seems quite deserted.  It's almost as if no
living being has tread this way within several years.  Looking eastward you
have an idea as to why this might be.  You notice what appears to be a very
large, black pillar of flame emanating from the roof of a dilapidated
building.  Something inside you wishes to investigate this curiosity.  Of
course, something inside you is also suppressing the urge to scream...

Before a Small Church~

Keriock Drive ends before what appears to be a small, abandoned church. 
The area is very quiet and still.  It seems as if even lower creatures dare
not approach this edifice.  The black pillar of flame you observed in the
distance now appears as a raging bonfire hovering just above the church's
rooftop.  The force of chaos is almost palpable here and, even though you
exert all of your will to fight it, you feel it urging you inside of the
church.  What you'll find inside is anybody's guess.

Green Leaf Square~

As you arrive at Relfaust's town square, you notice yet another
disturbing aspect of this area.  Regardless of the time of day, it appears
as if this place is in a perpetual state of twilight.  The sky does not
brighten or darken, and neither the moon or the sun deigns to occupy their
rightful place in the heavens.  The only sources of light in the city seem
to come from strange crystal orbs that line the streets much like lampposts.
However, something in the back of your mind tells you that the baleful green
light that they emit is not exactly all that healthy.  From here, you see
that Morphock Lane continues to the north while two smaller paths branch off
to the east and west.

at the intersection of Morphock Lane and Venerable Way.  To the east you see
what was once Relfaust's commerce district.  To the west, you see several
large buildings, one of which looks like a seashell.  Morphock Lane
continues to the north.

Nearing Morimir Castle~

~
The locals are starting to take a decidedly unhealthy interest in you. 
You can hear some of them sneering in your direction, while others are
gesticulating wildly and motioning for you to quickly take your leave. 
Ignoring them you look forward, catching a glimpse of the massive stone
castle that you observed near the city entrance.  For a brief moment, you
feel an alien presence in your mind.  The presence soon retreats as you make
your way to the castle's entrance.

The atmosphere of this place becomes even more oppressive the closer you
get to the castle.  A signpost beside the road reads 'Castle Morimir' and
something else in an unknown language.  You barely have time to ponder this
before you are accosted by two very large men dressed in jet black
legionaire's armor.  It seems as if they have been at their posts for longer
than you have been alive.  From the looks of it, they may be here long after
you have "departed".

You step over several deep potholes as you make your way down the
cobblestone road.  The farther you travel, the more you notice the

The dry, dusty brown road suddenly turns a deep crimsupon red.  It does not

reverberate within its cracked, marble walls along with the pitiful wails
of fallen warriors.  The entrance to the Stadium lies to the north while
Rainard Terrace continues to the east.

concentration of chaotic energies to the east.  A slight tingling sensation
races up and down your spine as you decide whether to press on or fall back.

The air here is thick with the pungent aroma of sulfer and freshly burned
pitch.  With watery eyes, you see that before you is a tall, cylindrical

its ebon walls, finally slamming into the ground and radiating outward.  It
is of no wonder that you can find no evidence of flora or fauna anywhere
near this place.  Indeed, the very earth has taken on a dark, unholy
appearance.  The entrance to this bastion of chaos lies east, behind two

Tashara Avenue~

The cobblestone path transforms into a smooth red brick road.  The
multitude of small cottages and log cabins that dot the landscape indicates
that this must be Relfaust's residential district.  A white signpost
states that the name of this street is Tashara Avenue.  The road
continues to the west.

Tashara Avenue widens a bit here.  A fallen brown signpost reads
'Community Square: All Visitors Welcome'.  You cannot quite put your finger
on it, but you feel a little more at ease here.  The omnipresent chaotic
force does not seem to be as strong here for some reason.  You also notice
that very few locals wish to come this way, as evident by the grimaces on
their faces when they look your way.  There are three paths here. The path
to the north leads to a small log cabin, while the path to the south leads
to a large manor.  The path to the west leads to a large meeting hall.

Before a Large Manor~

This path ends before a very prestigous manor house.  You notice that the

hawk-shaped silver door knocker several times, but no one answers.  Testing
the door you find that is unlocked, allowing easy access inside this grand
estate.

Before The Meeting Lodge~

hear the sounds of movement coming from within the lodge, but then it
ceases.  The path you are on continues to the west towards a large statue.

Tashara's Memorial~

You gaze in awe at a seven meter tall, pure golden statue resting atop a
marble, cubic base.  It appears to be that of an attractive, long-haired
female human no more than 19 years of age.  She is depicted in a meditative
stance, adorned with the robes and wooden circlet of a druid.  An ingraving
on the statue's base reads 'In Memoriam De Tashara ab Green Leaf'.  As you
gaze at the statue, you are filled with a sense of peace and safety.

Venerable Way East~

Relfaust's commerce district has definitely witnessed better days. 
Refuse literally covers the street to point that it is impossible to see the
road itself.  Most of the buildings this way are in even poorer condition
than the rest of the province.  Some are threatening to collapse at a
moment's notice. The locals here regard you with disdain as they mill about
the street buying rotten food and broken products.  The trail of trash
extends eastward towards a large crowd of people.

The number of locals increases dramatically here.  It is all that you can
do to prevent being pushed to the ground and trampled upon.  You notice that
a majority of them seem to be pouring out of a fairly large hut southward. 
To the north, you spy a dilapidated brick building with the word 'Bank'
scrawled in black paint above the entrance.  The crowd of locals seems to
thin a bit towards the east.

Venerable East~

In stark contrast to the hustle and bustle prevalent towards the west,
this section of Venerable Way is almost deserted.  The pile of trash and
refuse also thins a bit here and there, allowing brief glimpses of the dry
dirt road beneath.  Glancing to the north and south, you see two small brick
buildings.  Both appear to have been desecrated beyond any hope of repair. 
Judging buy what is left of their entrances, the northern building was once
a weapon's shop while the southern building was once an armory.  Venerable
Way continues to the east.

You find yourself standing before a three meter high, granite wall.  You
begin to question your senses, as you are positive that this wall did not
exist a few moments ago.  While you ponder the situation, two very large

positions on opposite sides of you.  They turn their spherical heads toward
you and although their faces are featureless, you have a strong feeling that
they are not at all happy to see you.  There is a small crack in the wall
that vaguely resembles a keyhole.

Venerable Way ends before a small restaurant called Chantry De Al'asad. 
The building itself is reminiscent of a gothic cathedral, the dark granite

distinct flavor that you can't quite place at the moment.  At any rate, it
merits investigation, if only for the sole purpose of acquiring a well-deserved
meal and some rest.

This area of the city seems to be in almost pristine condition.  The

You continue westward along Venerable Way, all the while admiring the
complex architecture of the buildings prevalent here.  Amazingly, they all

almost impossible to tell where the ground ends and the actual edifices
themselves begin.  The well paved road you are on continues to the west
while to the north you spot an unnaturally dark alleyway.

You find yourself standing before a large building that bears an uncanny
resemblance to a conch shell.  The exterior is a dull gray ivory, almost the
color of a spring stormcloud.  A mural located beside the entrance depicts a

Below the mural, a sign printed in silver letters reads 'Relfaust

The Governor's House~
~

The road comes to an abrupt end before a miniature citadel.  There are
almost no locals on the street here, which no doubt has something to do with
the gigantic humanoid pacing back and forth before the citadel's entrance. 
It soon becomes evident that a very influential and wealthy indvidual must
reside here.  The large figure ceases his pacing and strides toward you,
motioning for you to leave.  As you gaze at his gigantic features, something
in the back of your mind tells you that leaving might not be such a bad
idea.

A Short Hallway~

Gilded statues of exotic beasts stand in eternal vigilance next to
ornately designed, stained-glass windows.  A monochromatic mural of a
gigantic mountain hawk dominates the westernmost wall.  Despite the splendor
that lies before you, there is an overbearing sense of longing and despair
present here.  Faded tapestries of beautiful sunlit fields of flowers hang
prominently on the walls, completely in defiance of the drabness that
pervades the rest of the city.  The hallway ends to the north before two
large iron doors.

You enter into a large circular room with an incredibly high, domed
ceiling.  The walls are made of a dark, smooth substance unlike any you have
ever encountered before.  A plush, sky-blue carpet emblazoned with a white
emblem of a hawk covers the floor.  Strangely, all of the pieces of
furniture here appear to have been literally molded out of the walls or up
from the floor.  Near the back of the room behind a dark gray slab sits a
morose, middle-aged, male human.

This place is more akin to a mausoleum than a bank.  All is deathly
quiet, save for the slight scratching sound made by the quil pen of an elder
financier.  He seems to be deeply involved in settling accounts, barely
giving notice to your unannounced intrusion.

Veshek's Bazaar~

Several people file past you as you make your way inside the hut.  A
tattered cloth banner with the name 'Veshek' scrawled on it hangs limply
from the ceiling.  Multicolored hemp ropes cordon off the area into many
smaller subsections, each filled with bags of exotic spices, flasks of
various liquids and potions, and other food stuffs from around the world.  A
large rectangular iron safe sits at the far end of the hut, beside which
stands a devious, portly orc counting a pile of freshly collected gold
coins.

Desecrated Armory~

This shop has long since been abandoned.  The cracked, blood stained
brick walls are completely bare save for the shadowy outlines of shields and

in the middle of the room.

Chantry Lower Level~

The inside of the the restaurant is no more inviting than the outside. 
Ominous shadows dance about in the dim torch light while music befitting a

Chantry Upper Level~

is just as depressing as the lower level.  There are mostly two-person

none are too happy to be here.  To the west, you spy a dark elven bartender
mixing drinks.

The Bar seems to contain more customers than the restaurant's upper and
lower levels combined.  Quite a few of them appear to be completely

stare on, the dark elven bartender approaches you with a decidedly wicked
grin on his face.

The Auditorium~

It looks as if half of the city has gathered here.  All of the seats seem
to be taken save for a few in the very back.  The floor dips considerably,
allowing you to peer over the crowd and view the stage, which is currently
occupied by a female dressed in a seductive twilight blue evening gown.  Her
hypnotic voice resonates throughout the auditorium, lulling the crowd into a
deep state of torpor.  You find yourself briefly growing just as listless,
yet you quickly manage to fight it off.

The Stage~

You make your way to the stage despite vehement protests made by ushers

approaches you as she nears the final stanza, a devilish grin creeping
across her face.

attention to the performance.  A few of them turn in your direction and
sneer while the others cease their conversations and motion for you to
leave.

Manor Main Hall~

staircase leads up from here, with other rooms located to the east and west.

Dining Room~
~
~
Pushing your way through an abnormally thick matrix of cobwebs, you enter
a grand dining hall.  An impressive chandelier hangs from the ceiling, it's
dazzling crystals sparkle even in the room's dim lighting.  Before you
stretches an exceptionally long, polished oak dining table.  Each seat has a
set of eating utensils meticulously arranged before it.  Evidently, the
manor's previous occupant was expecting to host a rather exquisite feast for
a very long guest list.  You look about the room and glimpse several large
portraits lining the walls.  Most of them are faded beyond recognition,
although the one near the head of the table still manages to catch your
attention.

Aurum.  A few of the other seals appear incredibly worn, as if they have
been sitting on this desk for well over a century.

Master Bedroom~

You enter into a fabulously large bedroom.  Even though dust covers
everything and cobwebs are everywhere, this room is nonetheless fit for a
king.  The ceiling is a multicolor stained-glass skyligt.  You briefly
imagine how this room must have appeared during a bright, sunny day. 
Vibrant colors would dance about the room, giving one the feeling of living
within a kaleidoscope.  A huge, plush bed with goose feather pillows
occupies the center of the room while extravagant mahogany dressers and
chairs take up the rest.  You are sorely tempted to take a brief rest here,
however, your better judgement dictates otherwise.

broken furniture and piles of trash.  This place looks as if it were the

almost as if it were arranged to hide something.

on a gigantic throne near the center of the room.  He eyes you closely, just
itching to start a fight.

A gruesome theme rears its ugly head the farther you walk down this
hallway.  At first, you notice several pieces of dented armor hanging
precariously on the walls.  However, they quickly progress into whole suits
of dented war armor.  When you finally arrive at the jet black archway
leading to the guildmaster's office, you see two mummified corpses staked to
either side of the archway.  You get the impression that whoever or whatever
lies behind that archway does not take kindly to visitors.

Base of the Tower~

~
The interior of the spire radiates raw, chaotic power.  The walls pulsate
with energy, giving them a uniquely organic property.  Oddly enough, this
place seems to be much more spacious inside than without.  Be it a trick of
light or some unknown aspect of the tower itself, you cannot tell.  Glancing
about the room, you see that there are three distinctly strange doors
embedded in the wall above you, HIGH above you.  There are no stairs leading
up to these doors, nor do you spot any way to climb the walls' incredibly
smooth black surface.  Perhaps there is an alternative way to reach them...

Fighting an ever-growing feeling of vertigo, you make your way up to the
second door.  It is a simple oaken door with a golden plaque in the shape of

believe.  Staring upward, you see one last door situated just below the
tower's domed ceiling.

The Final Door~

~
Struggling against an unseen force, you barely make it to the stone
landing just before the third door.  Resting yourself, you stare at the
fresco on the tower's ceiling.  It depicts a rather grim account of the
construction of this tower.  You view images of beings from distant, chaotic
realms enslaving innocent souls and then sacrificing them to their dark
masters.  You turn away, focusing your attention on the large heavy iron
door that looms in front of you.  Approaching it, you are stopped dead in
your tracks by the appearance of a genderless, humanoid face within the
center of the door.  The face stares at you with crimson eyes, seemingly
peering into your very soul.

Danielle's Haven~

A blast of cold air rushes by you, chilling you to the very bone.  The
entire area is smothered in darkness, the only illumination stems from a
pillar of blueish-black flame in the center of the room.  As you look
closer, you can barely make out the ephemeral forms of various beings
floating about within it.  They all appear to be in great pain, their low
moans and wails reverberate throughout the room sending shivers up your
spine.  Floating beside the ghostly pillar of flame is a young human woman
adorned in a blood red robe and saccloth black cloak covered in arcane
runes.  You sense very powerful chaotic energy emanating from her.  She
turns her head towards you and smiles, barring two long and very sharp
fangs.

Grand Library~

The walls are lined with bookcase upon bookcase of thick, musty tomes.  A
single oaken table in the center of the room overflows with various scrolls
and parchments.  You speculate that it would take someone at least a decade

and flip through it, you hear a slight fluttering noise coming from behind. 
Swiftly spinning around, you come face to face with a very elderly elven
woman.  Judging by her angry visage, she is not too pleased by your presence
here.

The First Door~

~
You slowly float before the first door, which is more or less a gigantic
mosaic composed of dented shields and various bits of used armor.  Upon
closer inspection, you see several large blood stains on the door.  Many of
these stains center around puncture holes on the armor pieces, others appear
near the areas where the pieces have been welded together.  You notice that
some of them are quite fresh, a few are even dripping.  You shiver slightly
as you decide whether to continue upward or brave whatever lies behind this
gruesome piece of art.

Within the Church~

~
The inside of the church is meticulously clean yet sparsly furnished.  A

enscribed in arcane runes.  Chaotic energy radiates from the altar, coursing
through your entire being.

A thick, dark mist rolls about the hall.  Although it is spacious and

A Cramped Dungeon~

As you descend the staircase, the laughter and moans are replaced by

you see an armored orcish guard leaning against the dank dungeon wall.  He
is deep asleep, although his snoring is loud enough to wake the dead.  To
the east lies a dingy cell in which a young lady dressed in rags sits
cowering in the back corner.  To the west lies a similar cell in which a
regal, very surly feline warrior stands chained to the back wall.

~
A pile of compressed hay and a dirty blanket are the only comforts

fear etched on her face as she cringes in the back corner of the cell.

himself for anything you have to offer.

The castle walls darken noticeably here.  Segmented granite wall blocks
begin to mesh together forming a smooth, monolithic gray substance.  There

Something in your mind tells you that it has been a long time since this
place has witnessed anything in the way of light or beauty.  The hallway

The Main Hall splits into three directions here.  To the east, you see a

tangible darkness lies in the hallway to the north.

swirling vortex of smoke along with a simple, golden plaque.

nothing to offer, you notice movement in a darkened back corner.  Emerging
literally out of the shadows are three human toddlers, all of which possess
decidedly grotesque, animalistic features.  The eldest one among them stares
at you, a look of hunger creeping across it cat-like eyes.

An icy draft slithers past as you move into this room.  Intricately
fashioned pieces of furniture line the walls while a colossal, four poster

most of the left wall, offering a bird's-eye-view of the bleak cityscape of
Relfaust.  A solitary figure adorned in faded princely regalia stands
brooding before the window.  He briefly glances in your direction, regarding
you with a pronounced air of detachment.

The Grand Throne Room~

A grand throne room, the largest you have ever seen, expands before you.

possess expressions of absolute horror on their faces.  As you look on, a
flash of red lightning arcs by you followed by a booming thunderclap.  You
literally feel the force of chaos gather and congeal in front of you,
finally forming a humanoid figure wearing a midnight black, satin mantle. 
The figure merely points to you, bidding you to step forward.  Try as you
might, you find it impossible to resist.

The Grand Archive~

Tables filled with magical artifacts and bookcases lined with ancient
texts occupy most of the room.  It seems that most of the spoils of the

stunning set of armor floating lazily in a blue pillar of light.

The Chaotic Abyss~

You careen through an oscillating tunnel of dark smoke, finally crashing
through a thick membrane of shadows.  Your senses are assaulted by

same time.  You feel as if you are free-falling at breakneck speed yet,
simultaneously, being held steadfast in place.  After a few moments, you
focus your thoughts enough to spy four doors lying in all four compass
directions.  Above you floats a crystal staircase enclosed in glowing
magical barrier.

A Tubular Metallic Hallway~

You hear a loud, clanging noise originating from the north.  It sounds
almost like a legion of well armored knights marching back and forth.

relatively slender werewolf with matted, pale white fur.  It appears to be
gnawing on the neck of a previous catch.  As you move closer, you are
shocked to see that this creature is not chewing, but rather sucking the
very life force out of the body.  As you are pondering this situation, the
werewolf-vampire hybrid discards its current meal and charges towards you.

hundreds of people.  The all have horrible looks of pain on their faces,
quite a few of them even cry out for your help.  Floating above the pool is
a very powerful-looking demon.  It glances in your direction and, before you
even have a chance to blink, rushes towards you with a fierce grin on its
face.

Domain of the Silver Wyrm~

You wander northward, the acidic odor becoming steadily unbearable with
each and every step you take.  Just when you think that you can no longer
continue, you are beset upon by a titanic, sliver wyrm.  Behind it you spy
another vortex of black clouds.  Unfortunately, it seems that the only way
to get to it is to go through the wyrm itself.

Domain of the Living Armor~

You enter into a large, spherical room constructed of an exceptionally
lustrous, silvery metal.  Scores of armor plates and slivers of metal lay
strewn about area.  You spot a vortex of dark clouds floating above a large
pile of discarded suits of armor.  As you make your way to it, you notice
the suits of armor begin to shift ever so slightly.  Moments later, you hear
a loud crash behind you.  Swinging around, you catch a brief glimpse of a
gigantic suit of black, platemail armor as it lunges towards you.

A Stairway Leading Down~

The eastern corridor dead-ends before a spiral staircase leading
downward.  You hear several moans of pain mingled with whip cracks and
rattling chains.  A deep throated laughter follows soon after.

Underground Main Cavern~

You slide down the hole for what seems like an eternity until you finally
come to rest on a large, soft pile of cave moss.  As you rise to your feet,
you hear the chittering of hushed voices behind you.  When your eyes finally
adjust to the dim, torchlit cavern, you see several small children gathered
about you.  The scattered looks of bewilderment about their faces tells you
that they have not seen outside visitors for quite some time.  Amazingly,
they display no signs of the chaotic taint that has infected the locals
above ground.  You see cavern tunnels leading off in all cardinal directions
from here.

Children's Room~
~
~
The cavern ceiling slopes low, forcing you to kneel down and crawl to
enter this alcove.  It comes to no big surprise that you see several small
beds with young children napping in them.  The few that are awake gasp as
you enter, but then they giggle and ask you to join in the game of
hide-and-seek that you interrupted.  Several other children begin to crowd
around you, asking you various questions about the world above.

Council Cavern~

Numerous torches light up this spacious cavern which is filled with over
thirty adults of various ages.  They fail to notice your intrusion, mainly
due to the fact that they seem to be discussing the formation of groups to
raid the city above ground for food and other desperately needed supplies. 
There appears to be a lot of debate on the subject as four previous groups
have been lost within the last two weeks.  Keeping your distance, you listen
in on the arguments, silently hoping that they decide not to turn on you.

Elder's Room~

The cavern here is filled with the aroma of freshly burned incense. 
Animal wax candles illuminate the area just enough to read by.  Sitting in
the center of the room is an elderly woman who is in the midst of an
exceedingly long and complicated litany.  Every so often she glances at you
and smiles, instilling within you a strong feeling of peace and tranquility.

Underground Barricade~

The southern tunnel leads you to a gigantic iron wall covered in ancient
runes and sigils, presumably warding it against magical and physical
intrusion.  Pacing the area in front of the wall is a large, brutish looking
male ogre.  He glances in your direction trying to discern if you are friend
or foe.

Underground Tunnel South~

The wall exit clangs shut behind you.  Several weak torches line the
tunnel walls, allowing you to just barely see your way.  The tunnel bends to
east.

End of the Tunnel~

You finally arrive at the end of the underground tunnel.  A shaft of
baleful green light shines down on you from a pinprick hole above.  Looking
up, you see one of the large green orbs along with a sign that reads
'Morphock Lane South'.  There are footholds embedded in the tunnel wall that
are just large enough for you to use to reach the surface.

Opera House Main Lobby~

The interior of the Opera House is just as exotically designed as the
exterior.  High, concave walls join each other at a slender rectangular
ceiling.  Several curved support bars extend from the ceiling and run down
the walls, giving you the unnerving feeling of walking about in a gigantic
ribcage.  The entrance to the seating area is to the north, behind a very
large man charging for admittance.

Master Forge~
~
~
You nearly pass out due to this room's sweltering heat.  A gargantuan
forge encompasses most of the room blasting wave upon wave of hot air. 
Beside the forge lies a stone table containing a multitude of armors,
weapons, and other bizarre metal constructions.  As you are catching your
breath, you are approched by a wizened old dwarf attired in jet black plate
armor.  He eyes you suspiciously, then chuckles to himself.
