RoA MUDBase                                   Policies / Player Conduct rules

In no uncertain terms, these are the policies by which you must abide
on RoA.  Violators of these rules are subject to any type of punishment
the immortal staff deems necessary and/or suitable.
 
 1: No pkilling or pstealing is allowed, unless you AND the other person have 
    the assassin flag. (see HELP ASSASSIN for full info)
 
 2: No looting corpses of other people, unless you AND that person have the
    assassin flag.
 
 3. No kill-stealing is allowed. If someone is in the room with a mob, you
    must ask for their permission before attacking, even if they are sleeping.
 
 4: Multiplaying is allowed, BUT only TWO! (2) characters per person (account) 
    are allowed at one time. This includes any combination, for any reason
    you do NOT have to be playing to violate the rules. If you are caught 
    doing more than TWO characters on for any reason at any time ...well 
    you don't wanna know. >=(
 
 5: Be respectful of other players. After all, the more friends you make
    here the better. No harrassment of other players will be tolerated. 
    Abusive behavior maybe grounds for freezing, deletion or banning, 
    based upon the decision of the immortal in charge.

 6: No tell bombing any who do not appreciate it (especially immortals).
    Do not spam on gossip (ooc) or any other public channels. This will
    probably get you muted.
 
 7: Use of character names like "Robocop" or names with vulgarity will 
    NOT be tolerated. Names should suit our medieval non-earth world.
    We may ask for a name change at anytime for any reason. (NOTE: This
    includes storage characters as well!)
 
 8: There is a 50 item limit on equipment. If you exceed 50 items, you may 
    lose equipment. Be careful. No reimbursements will be done for people who
    have exceeded the 50 item limit.  Always keep a close eye on your 
    inventory.
 
 9: A non-Assassin flagged character may NOT aid an Assassin during combat.
    If found out, the character will be Assassin-flagged and possibly demoted
    several levels to make him/her easier prey...
 
10: RoA is always undergoing improvements and additions, and as a result, it is
    sometimes buggy. We request that if you discover a bug that effectively 
    gives you an advantage over the game or over other characters, you report 
    it to us. Exploiting a known bug is deliberate cheating, and can result in 
    freezing, deletion, and banning.  All bugs should be reported via the
    "bug" command, the more important ones should be immediately reported to 
    any immortal who is online.  This helps both you and us :)
 
11: If you deliberately cause crashes, especially in order to duplicate items, 
    or provide information to other players on how to cause crashes, you may
    be frozen, deleted or banned.
 
12: Immortals here will not give you equipement, save for quest prizes.
    They will not stat mobs or items for your benefit.
    They will not give information on where equipment loads or how to reach it.
    They will not cast spells upon you, save for specific quest prizes.
    They will not tank for you.
    They will not retrieve your corpse.
    
    Immortals here will provide any general information as appropriate.
    They will assist and aid as they can.
    Please do not ask any immortal to do something which is not legal here.
 
13: If you are away from the mud over 30 days, you may lose all your equipment
    and possibly your character. To avoid this, make sure you play your 
    character on a regular basis (or at least check in once a month).
    No reimbursements can or will be given if your character has not been
    logged in in over 30 days.
 
14: The Realms of Aurealis OFFICIAL REIMBURSEMENT POLICY:
    If your character dies in a recoverable location, ie: no non-recoverable 
    DT, and the mud crashes immediately after, preventing player corpse 
    recovery, It may be possible to reimburse all or most of the character's 
    equipment. The reimbursment is based upon our reimbursement files only. 
    No reimbursments will be done for individual items.
 
    There will be no reimbursement for equipment loss not related to the mud, 
    for example: server problems, line noise, link problems, net lag, or poor 
    typing skills, to name a few. 
    
    Although player houses act as a storage area for equipment, they have no
    reimbursement files for them and by no means are to be considered a safe
    haven for your most valuable equipment.
    Reimbursements will not be given for any house related loss.

    Once a GOD+ level immortal has ruled on a situation, there should not be a
    furthur discussion on the subject. Descisions are final.
  
15: We encourage, though we do not enforce, role-playing. If you decide not
    to role-play please do not hinder anyone who IS role-playing.
 
16: Posting or gossiping the names and addresses of other muds is frowned
    upon, because we do not do that on other muds.  We offer every mud out
    there on the net great respect, because we know how hard it is to maintain
    a good mud, but we ask that nobody advertise here.  Advertising posts
    will be swiftly removed upon discovery.

17: (2/15/97 - Revised 4/11/97) Swearing over public channels is
    forbidden.  Masking swear words (Example: d*mn) is also forbidden.
    Public channels include (but are not necessarily limited to): Gossip
    (ooc), IC, Music, shout and holler. Certain immortals are more touchy
    about this than others but all of their judgements on such matters are 
    law, do not argue with an immortal about their judgement.

18: Multies are NOT allowed in the ARENA, unless so mentioned by the
    immortal overseeing said arena.

19: All player names must be "proper" names.  Names with capital letters
    within them (Ex: MasterMind, JoeBob, etc) are not allowed. Immortals
    may request name changes for names considered inappropriate at any
    time.  All immortal decisions are final and should be considered law.

20: Use of 'emote' to bypass the language system here on RoA is strictly
    prohibited.  Languages are in for a reason, and we ask that if you
    only wish to speak one language, speak common.  Violators of the no-
    emote-speak clause will be flagged and will lose the ability to emote
    anything at all.

21: The use of 'bots' (automated characters, unmanned and running on a
    script) are prohibited, as are money and/or equipment hoarding
    routines.  All three are freezable offenses.

22: Policies are subject to change without notice. Make sure you stay
    informed of any changes by reading the update board at your nearest 
    gateway.  Ignorance of the rules is NO excuse.
