Mana can be considered the "mental blood" of spellcasters. The
hit points of a spellcaster's head. Most magive found throughout
the Realms stems from some type of spellcaster/magic-user utilizing
mental ability to focus on another, indescribable plane of existence.
The stronger one's state of mind is, the more once can focuse on
that mystical dimension from which (we believe) all magic is born.
Many philosophers argue the exact foundation of magic, though rarely
do any agree. What most do agree on, however, is that mental
energy is extremely important, and therefore, we measure it by a
numerical mana point system. Let it be known that there exist
objects which channel a bit of mental energy from that unknown
dimension directly into the user's head. How? It's very complicated,
but more than one spellcaster has found the gens to be more than
a little useful.
