Everyone may learn any of the languages, but each character is created with knowledge of at least one, depending upon race and intelligence. Depending also upon these is the rate at which one picks up other languages through hearing and speaking them. To learn other languages more quickly, one may practice them as one practices skills. The command "speak" shows a list of all racial languages. Use this command followed by a language name to switch to using it. Or, in a pinch, type "lsay <language> <message>" to say something in that language without having to switch.
