Black Wastes - A Desolate Road Across the Wastes~
Looking about the area, you can see why this place is named the Black

Wastes.  Black, scorched ground lies all around you as far as the eye can

see with an occasional interruption by a burnt tree stump or large

boulder.  Absolutely no plant life can be seen and no water sources are

in view.  Sweat beads off your brow as an incredible heat assaults you,

making your skin crawl.

A stone wall lies on each side of the road preventing you from straying

from the path and winding up completely lost in this nightmarish place. 

A dead silence covers the area only occasionally broken by the sound of a

howling wind.  A small, stone hut composed of black-white quartz stones

lies directly off to the east.

The small stone wall that borders each side of the road is only about a

foot and a half high as the other portions have collapsed from disrepair. 

The wall could have possibly once served as a marker for caravans

venturing in to the land to help them stay on the road and not wander off

into the unknown.

The small stone hut is nothing fancy, composed of simple quartz slabs

stacked on top of each other.  A small square opening covered by a piece

of cloth looks to serve as a door.  A small amount of light peeks around

the cloth suggesting someone may dwell there.

Black Wastes - Inside a Small Stone Hut~
This stone hut is composed of many slabs of alternating black-white

quartz stones.  A few crude shelves have been placed along the eastern

wall covered with several small trinkets.  A table made from the blackest

obsidian lies in the center of the room and is covered with several

loaves of bread and a small rusty chalice filled with water.  On the

eastern wall lies a small fireplace with a soup kettle hanging just above

the flames.  A tattered piece of cloth hangs on the western wall, acting

as a door.  A heavy iron trapdoor is set into the floor.

The shelves are of a crude nature, nothing more then warped wooden planks

hammered in to the wall.  Several small items lie atop them, a rusty

shield, a brass candleholder and the skull of what looks like a goblin.

you have ever seen.  Only a few loaves of bread and a rusty chalice lie

on it.

The fireplace is rather crude, nothing more then a hole in the wall with

a small chimney rising up from it.  A small soup kettle dangles over the

flames, bubbling with some stew the owner could possibly be calling food.

These small trinkets seem to have been collected over the years by the

inhabitant of this small hut.  Among them are a rusty double-bladed axe,

a brass candleholder, a silver spoon, and the skull of some large

humanoid.

is shaped differently.  The first is thin, about as big around as a stick

of incense.  The second has a more triangular shape, like a prism, and

far as you can see.  A fierce wind rushes around you sending a whirlwind

of sand and small stones about the area.  To the west in the middle of

the remaining trees is a deep hole which possibly at one time could have

been a cool lake.

The dull, lifeless terrain of the wastes can be clearly seen from this

vantage point as you look out into a land void of any color except that

of yellowish sand, blackened tree stumps and grey rocks.  Lying in the

middle of the road are the bleached bones of some poor soul who wandered

too far into the wastes and fell victim to its deadly powers.  Whirlwinds

of sand rip through the room, assaulting your exposed flesh in a stinging

attack.

beneath the layers of sand covering them.  His arm is outstretched

Upon the ground are the remains of deep wagon ruts which suggest that

this was once a well-traveled path.  Broken and rusty wagon wheels lie

just off the path along with the remains of wooden wagons.  A shrill wind

picks up carrying with it a sound of soft sobbing but then again, it may

just be your imagination helped along by the tremendous heat.

to maninly to piles of splinters and rusted metal.  From the looks of the

As you walk along the road you come across the strange sight of a large

puddle of water in the middle of the road, the wind sending ripples

across its surface.  A few shrubs lie along the edge of the road, but

nothing more then a skeletal remain of their once colorful life.  The

road continues to wind its way through the wastes to the east and west

with no end in sight.

The flat, barren landscape of the wastes is interrupted by a rolling hill

off to the north which rises up a good bit and drops down out of sight,

but other than that it is just a desolate waste.  The distant sound of an

explosion reaches your ears as it echoes throughout the area but looking

around you cannot identify its source or direction.  A few withered weeds

dot the road's surface only to further the impression of death and

tragedy of the area.

A dense steam begins to rise from the road as you notice deep cracks in

the ground from which you can see lava running beneath them.  The cracks

widen every few moments to let loose an explosive burst of some toxic gas

which the wind quickly blows away.  To the south the road appears to be

rather rocky as you notice large boulders partially blocking the path but

still passable.

Several large boulders stick out from the road's edges partially blocking

the path but still allowing a single person to squeeze through.  On a few

of the boulder's faces lie deep cuts and scratches.  Looking closely it

looks as if a message was written upon a few of the boulders.  The ground

is extremely hot on this section of the road, making you feel as if you

were standing barefoot on a pit of hot coals.

The road is filled with potholes, wide cracks and a gravel-like surface

which makes movement a bit slow and tiresome.  To the east a pile of

boulders block the rest of the road and dead tree stumps lie on each side

on the ground and looking closely they appear rather new.  To the west a

giant, black tree towers over you casting a black shadow on the road.

The road surface here is mainly composed of black rocks, like those made

from cooled lava.  As you walk along you kick up clouds of dust from the

ash-like dirt causing you to cover your eyes or become blinded.  Looming

over the rolling sand dunes to the southeast you spy a massive black

tower rising up from an enormous dark forest.  The road continues on a

straight course to the north, while to the south it starts to bend out of

view.

the north.  Several wavey lines and designs made by the cooling vary with

which completely obscures your vision.  With each step you take you

blindly bump into objects you cannot identify.  Every few moments the

thinner and would probably offer a better view of where you are.  To the

south the road continues through the wastes and the rain of black ash

seems thinner.

From this vantage point you gain a better view of the surrounding area as

you see the desert continue for miles.  Off to the west and south the

dull, colorless terrain of the desert runs for miles.  To the east the

colorless terrain is broken as lush green tree tops break the pattern. 

The road continues to climb up the hillside to the east while to the

south it declines back toward the foothills.

possible beginning to it.  Waves of heat ripple across the horizon giving

a very vague image of what lies deeper in the wastes.  The road abounds

wherever possible.

Directly to the north the road is broken by a very large crack which

blocks passage in that direction.  From within the crack rise noxious

fumes, globs of lava and other hazardous materials.  The crack is not

very wide and it could be possible to jump across it with a running start. 

Off to the north a ways you spy what you think could be the end of the

road or maybe just another bend.

The road continues to bend, twist and snake its way through the terrain

causing your feet to ache as you constantly lose footing on the uneven

surface.  A crude stone wall which may have once stood a bit sturdier

lines the road and breaks at regular intervals only to pick back up again.

The road bends here, heading off to the east and south showing signs of

heavy usage.  The skeletal remains of horses and a single, broken-down

guard station are now the only visible survivors.  A scorched wooden

seem to be legible upon it.  To the east a smaller road begins to wind

around the outskirts of a forest of black trees while to the south the

road heads down toward the foothills.

rows of blackened trees.  A silvery rune has been etched across its

surface which glows faintly.  At the top of the gate lies a stone arch

wind blows through the area making the trees bend and crack as if ready

to topple over at any second.  The road to the north is covered in piles

This section of forest seems to house an abundance of the blackened trees

which seem all too familiar in this sinister place.  The ground below

looks more like ash then that of normal, healthy dirt.  Trees wrap around

each other as if trying to destroy each other.  The tree's thick black

bark has been shaped into the form of a face which casts a spine-chilling

glance towards you.

Blackened Forest - Path Along the Black Tree Grove~
Small breaks in the tightly spaced trees offer a small glimpse to the

world outside of the forest which looks no better then the forest itself. 

A strong, but steady wind blows through the area causing the trees to

bend, crack, and groan as their tops are tossed about.  Several different

sets of tracks lead in a western direction through the twisted grove of

trees.

The tracks have been made by some large beast and by the depth of the

prints obviously very heavy too.  The tracks look like a bears pawprints,

except five times as large and with claws about 12 inches long.

Through the breaks in the trees you catch a glimpse of the barren wastes

outside.  Rolling hills of sand and the lack of any trees except

blackened tree stumps can be seen.  Far off to the northwest you spot a

large mountain range rising up.  Looking like a small ant tunnel, a road

can be faintly seen working its way through the wastes.

ooking around the forest you notice no variation of vegetation; just the

same picture of black trees and ash colored dirt.  Bits of cloth hang

from some of the branches of the trees, slowly wavering in the wind.  A

tangled mess of brush and undergrowth appears to the south of you,

suggesting passage in that direction could be difficult.

Although the vegetation of the forest is now dead it still is dense in

places, completely blocking passage in directions where once stood clear

paths.  Dead branches from the tree tops above hang down and meet up with

the brush on the floor, causing you to have to push them aside to see

further into the forest.

Tree stumps litter the ground to the south and west of here, looking as

though some massive hand had reached down and broke them in half. 

Several small mounds line the path looking to be graves of some type, or

perhaps just build up of ash.  A lone, blackened tree lies in the center

of the path, its twisted bark resembling a sinister face.

The black, twisted trees of the forest rise up above you, casting their

dark shadow across the ground and seem to absorb the light creating the

feeling of a dank swamp.  The humidity is quite high, sending beads of

sweat rolling off your forehead.  The soft, black dirt feels like that of

a wet swamp as every step you take it becomes more difficult to move.

Patches of withered flowers lie all around you, their once true beauty

now nothing more then a tangle of brown weeds.  Looking up above you the

black leaves of the trees hang over you, snuffing out all light and

trapping heat, causing the forest to feel like that of a swamp.  No

matter where you look all that can be seen are distorted trees with the

occasional dead tree stump.

Blackened Forest - Before a Mighty Black Tree~
Rising up from the black soil is a huge black tree, its twisted branches

and roots spreading out in all directions as if drawing the last

remaining nutrients of the soil into them.  Its bark is twisted and the

image of a dark and sinister face appears on its surface.  A horde of

termites gnaw away at the dead wood around the tree but seem to keep away

from the black tree itself.

This massive black tree stands at least 20 feet high.  Its thick black

branches are twisted and distorted forming sharp points.  Upon the base

of its trunk the bark has been twisted severely, resembling a

sinister-looking face.  Hoards of termites gnaw away at the decaying

trees around it but none seem to attack the black tree itself.  An

overwhelming presence of evil surrounds the tree, sending chills down

your spine.

Decaying trees rise up in every direction around you, some leaning to the

side as their roots have weakened to the point where they cannot support

the weight any longer.  Dark vines cover the ground beneath your feet,

sprouting black flowers with red centers.  To the west you notice that

there the blackened trees seem to be concentrated and it may be the

possible point of origin for the decay of the forest.

Blackened Forest~
Several tree stumps cover the path and you cannot help but step on one,

causing them to crumble to the ground in a mound of splinters.  Termite

hordes seem to cover almost every tree except for the black, twisted

trees which seem relatively untouched by the decay.  To the south and

east the small footpath continues, while to the west the decaying trees

give way to their blackened counterparts.

The true feeling of decay gives way as you notice that most of the trees

to the west are on the verge of toppling over and a few look as if they

have been snapped like a small twig.  Overturned trees scar the landscape

giving the sense of decay and death as no life seems to remain here

anymore.  A small footpath works its way to the west, through the twisted

maze of decaying trees.

The trees seem to space out here, varying between lush, green trees and

their black and twisted counterparts.  An almost perfect line is drawn

down the middle of the forest; to the east green grass and colorful

flowers while to the west is a picture of a colorless maze of black and

trees.

A ring of redwood trees surround this small clearing in which a white

marble statue of an elf rises up from a patch of purple roses.  Beside

the statue of the elf is a small pedestal on which a golden @e@Yplaque@n

rests.  To the north a giant oak tree rises up from the grove.

This grove houses several dozen cherry trees with glistening red cherries

hanging from their branches.  The trees hang over a bit creating a cool,

shady place to rest from the heat of the forest.  The forest spreads out

offering a hard but relaxing seat to rest on.

This might oak tree rises up in the center of the grove, its huge

dark brown and its leaves are bright green and full of life.  Looking

closely it almost looks as if the tree has a face upon its bark, but may

feeling of a cool spring day.  To the east lies a gigantic oak tree.

species of tree and flower growing in abundance.  A cool breeze blows

through the area every few minutes, circulating the various smells of the

flowers.  To the southwest you catch a glimpse of an abnormally large

tree rising up from within a patch of flowers.

This small trail shows signs of heavy usage; the grass has been

completely trampled and only a mix of light brown soil and jet black dirt

remains.  On the east side of the trail it is bordered by white birch

trees while the western side is bordered by black, twisted trees.  The

trail heads north, towards a massive wooden gate that is just barely

visible and to the south where the trail bends around the forest heading

deeper into it.

Wagon ruts cover the ground before you but as you look around you notice

The trail has sunk deep into the ground here and you quickly find

yourself up to your chest in thick mud.  Trying to move out of the mud

only causes fatigue to set in quickly and you strain to not sink any

surface of the pool as if something beneath the surface was breathing.

mounds of black soil that make up the forest floor show no signs of life

way to a small dirt trail.

the desert seems to peek out from beneath the roots of the trees making

nests from which faint chirping of new-born birds can be heard.

The thick tangle of intertwined trees bars passage to the eastern section

of the forest, leaving only three distinct paths to follow.  Thick

redwood trees tower up above you but are now nothing more then hollowed

out shells of their former lives as termites eat away the last vital

remains.  No distinct paths can be seen upon the ground but small

clearings to the north, west and south may allow further passage through

the forest.

Decaying pine trees tower up above you, their once green needles now lie

in a heap upon the ground, brown and brittle.  Black sap runs out from

holes in the trunks, oozing down to the ground creating a sticky mess. 

Breaks in the trees span in all directions, but there is no real

variation and it becomes apparent that you could lose you bearings in

here quite easily, if you were to move at all.

The trees along the eastern side of the forest here are mere hollowed-out

shells now, caused by the decaying disease of the forest.  Several holes

A row of dead trees runs along the eastern edge of the forest here,

looking very unstable as if at any moment they could topple.  Various

sets of tracks run off to the east, heading straight into the rows of

axe due to the cleaness of the cuts.

long, hollowed-out log from which a foul stench emanates.  Off to the

south, through the darkness of the forest, you spy a hint of stone rising

up between the trees.

about three feet.  With every step you take you always seem to bump into

a tree; your movement slows to a crawl.  Thick and twisted vines wrap

around the trees and cover the ground further obstructing your path. 

Narrow paths attempt to pass through the trees leading out to the north,

east and west.  To the south the trees have become tightly bunched

together, barring passage in that direction.

you seem to absorb every bit of light that tries to pass through this

forbidden forest.

a few white marble pillars rising up to the north.  Gigantic redwood

several tree trunks have been stacked up about five feet high to form a

have choked the life out of each other in their efforts to reach the

together to make pushing through them impossible.  Only slightly less

dense to the south and east, the dried husks of the trees seem to close

in around you.

termites, which seem be the only living thing in this portion of the

Billowing clouds of black dust blow through here rattling the dead

vegetation and sending the sound of snapping wood echoing throughout the

forest.  Trees in various stages of decay are scattered through the area

with fallen logs dotting the lifeless terrain in between.  Brittle,

blackened vines make their tangled way along the floor and up the dead

trunks of decaying trees.  Here and there a small black flower blooms on

a seemingly dead vine.

Ominous, black pillars that seem to be the remains of the trees which

once reigned supreme here jut out from the blackened earth.  Dead vines

which once climbed up the trees still twist around and through the dead

wood, as though reaching to choke out any signs of life that remain.  At

first glance the soil seems to be the rich black of healthy loam but upon

closer inspection, it seems more akin to ash; dry and dead like

everything else in this desolate place.

Black pillars of hollow wood are all that is left of the trees that once

grew and thrived here.  Still wound about with the plants that more than

likely strangled the life out of them, many of the shattered trunks still

stand erect.  Termites have long since harvested all the viable wood and

moved on to other more promising parts.  The occasional insect can be

seen crawling across the forest floor, scurrying underneath dead tree

trunks.

Blackened Forest - Before a Dark Hole in the Ground~
A ring of black and twisted trees encircles the area where a dark, musty

hole lies.  Small piles of bones litter the ground around the hole and a

stench of death and decay rises up from within it.  A dark mist rolls out

from within the hole further obscuring any view into it.  Small paths

span out in all directions from here, leading back into the darkness of

the forest.

A carpet of low fog rolls along the forest just above your knees and

slowly expands in all directions.  With each step you take, a soft

crunching sound echoes throughout the forest, like that of snapping bones. 

Many hollowed out trees lay propped up against each other as their roots

have become far too weak to support their massive weight any longer. 

Deep claw-like marks scar some of the decaying trees' faces made by what

could be a bear or some other creature but by the size of the marks it

looks as if as if the creature was quite large.

is much larger then normal.  The cuts are about six inches deep

suggesting a tremendous amount of force must have been used to make them.

Swirls of dense fog spiral up from the forest floor spraying a gentle,

wet mist onto your face.  All around you the decaying trees of the forest

rise up, but this small clearing seems void of all life whether decaying

or living.  Looking around, the black and twisted trees tower before you,

their twisted bark casting an evil glance about the room.  Directly to

the south lies a pile of tree trunks which have been stacked up like a

barricade.

Heaps of vines cover this large clearing; most are dead while only a few

seem to still retain some life force within them.  Clumps of roots from

the various decaying trees of the forest dot the floor beneath you.  A

patch of brown, dried herbs sits in the center of the clearing, partially

obscured by layers of dead vines.  The forest spreads out in all

directions around you; small footpaths breaking their way through the

maze of twisted trees.

The constant scraping of dry branches and the rattle of dead vines fill

the area as a breeze blows through what must have been a lovely glade. 

Here and there, scattered clumps of a brittle yellow grass hang

tenaciously to the ash-like soil.  The vines are thin here, mainly

clinging along the bottoms of the twisted trees.  From the battered

fibers and dry tendrils evident on the ground, the wind seems to have

flailed the vines from the rotting trees.

This small clearing is completely barren as no trees, even the massive

blackened ones dare touch the gray-ash colored soil here.  No tracks are

visible upon the soil but from the looks of its composistion it doesn't

look as if tracks would remain here long.  The ground appears to ripple

beneath your feet, as if mirrored somehow or maybe an illusion itself.  A

sincere sense of danger seems to fill this clear and it may be wise to

leave here quickly.

The unnatural silence of the forest continues as you walk soundlessly

across piles of dry leaves.  Several of the trees around you bear marks

like those made by a bear's claw but other than that they seem the same

as the others.  A piece of tattered cloth hangs from one of the decaying

This small, tattered piece of silk cloth hangs from one of the many

branches of the decaying trees.  Red specks of blood dot its delicate

surface, marring its former beauty.  A small symbol is etched across its

surface but you cannot make out the entire form as half the cloth is

missing.

Several of the trees are scarred with deep cuts, as if made by a bear's

paw except you notice that the bear would have to have been at least five

times larger than normal to have made such huge marks.  A faint trace of

blood lies within a few of the marks and appear rather fresh as the blood

slowly trickles down the trees.

Twisted black and decaying trees struggle for life here as each tries to

remain rooted and suck in the vital nutrients that still remain in the

ash-like soil.  Roots burst up from beneath the soil, wrapping and

twisting their way around the trees as if to strangle the life from them. 

A cold chill runs down your spine as you suddenly feel as if you're being

watched but can see nothing in view to support this feeling.

Glancing around, all that you can see are the black and twisted trees

that dominate this section of the forest.  Trunks of once huge pine trees

litter the ground, snapped like mere twigs.  Brown and dry leaves cover

the ground making a crackling sound with every step you take.  Above you

the towering blackened trees spread their distorted branches out,

blocking out all natural light.

The blackened trees that occupy this small section of the forest show

signs of damage as you notice deep claw-like cuts within their bark.  A

set of tracks made by those of what look to be a bear wander off in all

directions but the tracks are distorted and hardly identifiable as it is. 

Small footpaths work their way through the maze of trees in all

directions, showing signs of recent usage.

pair of heavy boots.  The tracks lead off in all directions but a fairly

Once great and mighty towering redwood trees lie before you, now nothing

more then hollowed out shells from decay and the termite hordes which

plague the remaining living trees.  Piles of wood chips lie in heaps

across the ground, their color turned to a deep charcoal black from what

could have been a fire.  The black soil feels like that of a swamp as

with each step you take you sink down a bit, leaving a deep footprint

imprinted in the dirt.  Various tracks head off in all directions but

they are too blurred to be identified.

The remains of what was once a small villa lie in pieces upon the forest

floor before you.  The once marble white stone walls now are nothing more

suggest someone or something has been passing through this area recently

as the tracks seem fairly new.

eerie silence of the forest.  The blackened trees loom around you in

forest floor.  The remains of squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits and other

animals can be clearly made out as their bones have settled in an almost

perfect posistion to resemble their former selves.  Fragments of bone

into too many pieces to hint as to what they formerly were.

The black, sap-like liquid that oozes from the trunk is quite thick, like

maple syrup.  Bubbles rise to its surface every few moments only to

burst, sending small splatters of the ooze across the ground.  Looking

Blackened Forest~
A small puddle of blackish-colored water lies upon the ground.  Several

still live but severely decaying trees crowd around the puddle as if to

try and suck up the last remaining nutrients the forest has to offer.  A

thick, red colored fungus clings to several of the decaying tree's trunks. 

A thick, rolling fog partially obscures the ground beneath your feet,

rolling towards the west.

blackish-liquid.  Ripples run across the surface of the liquid as a harsh

wind blows through the forest.  Many trees huddle around the outskirts of

The fungus seems the same as any other that can be found living on trees

of all forests except for its rich, red color.  Several patches of the

fungus cling to the decaying trees and you catch a glimpse of a hole

beneath the fungus, as if it is slowly eating away the wood.

Blackened Forest - Within a Wall of Thorns~
Clouds of dark mist roll toward you from the depths of the forest to the

south and southeast creating the appearance of a churning storm.  The

hollow shells of decaying trees litter the path before you.  Curtains of

vines and thorn-covered branches drape down from the trees causing you to

push them away to see clearly and even then the darkness of the forest

drops visibility down to barely the length of your arm.

Blackened Forest~
This section of the forest appears the same as the others you have seen

so far except for an unusually large blackened tree that rises up before

you.  The tree has begun to decay but as you look closely you notice that

the left side of it still retains some brown bark and the right side is

horribly twisted.  Dead shrubs lie along the ground, their brittle

branches bearing no leaves anymore.

bark rests and still retains a few leaves upon its branches.  On the

right side of the trunk the bark has been horribly twisted and has taken

on a blackened appearance.  Moss also clings to the bark and is equally

divided, the left is green and moist while the right is brown and dead.

Lying sprawled out in the center of a circle of blackened trees lies the

bloody and horribly mutilated remains of a wood elf.  Splatters of blood

lie across the surface of the surrounding trees.  A line has been etched

into the black soil heading east, as if someone or something had been

dragged off in that direction.

Blackened trees hang alongside this small footpath, casting a dark shadow

across the trail.  The trees slowly sway back and forth like a constant

breeze were blowing but the air is still and deathly quiet.  Small stone

walls line the edges of the path, rising up to a height of three feet. 

Looking around you, all you can see are the black trees which stand

together so closely that they block out all sunlight and obscure your

vision to the north and south.  To the east the footpath continues down

the decline of a small, rolling hill.  To the west a mass of lopsided

trees stand at various angles, their roots obviously weakened by disease.

Many piles of multi-colored leaves lie scattered about the path here,

drifting slowly off a few lush, green trees that stand directly to the

east.  Directly to the north and south of the path the battle between the

black, twisted trees and the lives one can be clearly seen as each wraps

around the other in an attempt to take over the plot of soil.  The crude

cobblestone wall continues to run along the edges of the path to the east

and west, interupted every few feet by a small gap.  To the east the path

continues into a lush, green lively forest while to the west it proceeds

into the groves of blackened trees.

Blackened Forest - A Deathly Quiet Path~
Lush, green birch, oak, and elm trees overhang the path here, swaying

gently back and forth like a breeze were blowing.  Small bushes, each

full of ripe, red berries, line the edges of the footpath behind the

cobblestone wall.  Dominating the southern edge of the path are two

massive redwood trees, each measuring at least fifteen feet across. 

Scattered about the path are small acorns, hazelnuts and walnuts, most of

which have been cracked open and their meat taken away.  To the east the

path drops down the hillside at a great angle while to the west it climbs

up towards a dark section of the forest.

Rising up in the center of the footpath is a giant obsidian pillar,

covered in elegant flowing runes which glow with a bright yellow aura. 

Planted around the base of the pillar are several tulips, roses and

violets all of which are in full bloom and waft a sweet aroma into the

air.  To the south several tall pine trees stand at a slight angle which

causes them to overhang the pillar.  To the north the trees are more

spaced, giving a glimpse outside to the bleak, colorless desert terrain. 

The small footpath continues to the east and west from here, working its

way between the groves of trees.

Large oak trees, filled with multi-colored leaves, stand along the edges

of this large clearing.  Within the clearing a mighty circle of white

marble stones has been placed, each with a rune etched upon its surface. 

Planted along the exterior of the stone circle are several white roses

which send a sweet-smelling aroma wafting through the air.  At the far

end of the circle to the east a large, white and gray-streaked granite

marker, outlined by a fiery red glow, has been placed.  The ground before

the circle is litter several sets of tracks which look to be from a horse. 

To the west a granite archway leads back out to a small footpath and away

from the circle.

Blackened Forest - Within a Hollowed-out Tree Trunk~
This hollowed-out tree trunk is amazingly large.  It runs about twenty

feet towards the north and the ceiling is about six feet above you. 

Thick, greenish-colored moss clings to the decaying bark shedding an

unnatural green glow into the log.  The stench of rotting flesh fills the

trunk and you notice it comes from at least a dozen decaying dew sprites

which litter the floor.  To the west a small opening leads back into the

decaying forest.
