You are standing knee-deep in the dark, murky waters of a section of

K'ssk swamp.  Various bugs fly around your face, making a nuisance of

themselves.  The sky is a dull, depressing gray color, full of massive

storm clouds that threaten to rain at any given moment.  The only

indigenous vegetation you can see are small, dirty shrubs and drooping

trees.  Although the fog clouds your vision, you can see that the pool of

water continues far to the south and west, and to the north, you can see

the village of Sos-Kul.  Out from the center of the waters is a hollow

stone.  The stone seems to lead to a chamber under the water.

You are in a central area of the swamp that is busy with activity.  Toads

sit idle on mossy rocks, watching dragonflies that absently gnaw on the

leaves of the short, water plants that inhabit this swamp.  Small fish

swim around the murky waters, occasionally snapping up a bug that flew

too close to the water.  Some of the rocks are large enough for you to

sit on comfortably, and if not for the ominous clouds overhead, this

place would actually be rather pleasant.  To the west, the water grows

deeper, and to the south and east, the swamp is a bit more rocky.  A

circle of stones, half-sunk in the ground, stick up like teeth from the

boggy swamp.

Top of a Tree, K'ssk Swamp~
Having reached the top of the tree, you find yourself above the fog

level, and you have a clear view of miles around you in any direction. 

The view is quite amazing; to the east, you can see the swamp eventually

meets the ocean.  To the north, you see a long road stretching to the

horizon, meeting several large mountain ranges.  A plain of endless

grasslands can be seen to the west, and to the south, you see endless

swamp.  Other than a marvelous view, though, there is little else in the

top of the tree worth seeing.  To get back to ground level, you'll have

to climb down the ladder of branches.

The plants along here have been crushed and trampled by some large

animal, but nowhere near as badly as to the north.  You wonder where the

animal that caused such damage could be hiding.  The path continues to

A large tree has fallen across the path to the east, completely blocking

it.  A new path is developing to the west, flowing around the fallen mass

of vines and branches.  Otherwise, the main path extends away to the

north, riddled with sunken footsteps.

The path widens here as it enters an intersection to the north.  To the

south, it becomes narrow as it weaves between vines and trees.  Travel

off of the path is not possible due to the dense undergrowth.

K'ssk Swamp~
You have to fight your way through a tangle of vines to get here, but it

was worth it.  This is a small clearing on the path, open enough that you

can see the sky.  Someone has used this spot as a campsite, as there are

remains of a fire in the center.  The clearing is very peaceful, allowing

you to rest for a moment and listen to the swamp live around you.  The

path disappears through the vines and branches to the north and east.
