#1900 Entrance to the fair~ A medieval fair has come to town and set up residence here! A large stone arch to the east allows entrance to the fairground and through it you can see many stalls, competitions and exhibits, as well as lots of people enjoying themselves. Back to the east, through the University Park, one can return to the city of Lukhan. ~ ~ 4 2 E arch~ The arch has been built over the entrance to the fair, and has "Welcome to the Fair" inscribed on it. ~ E stalls~ The stalls are selling an array of fairground things, you could probably find out more by going in and asking. ~ E competitions~ You can see two distinctive viewing stands, probably for people to watch tournaments. There's also a strange wooden building just inside the arch to the north. ~ E exhibits~ From here you can make out a cluster of people at the north end of the fair, and a few people seem to be running away from something to the south. ~ D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1901 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 2120 S #1901 Inside the fairground~ You're just inside the fairground. To the north is a small wooden building with a sign on it proclaiming it to be the Hall of Mirrors. South is a quiet and rather muddy path which smells terrible. To the east are the first of the fair stalls. West is the arch leading out of the fairground. ~ ~ 0 2 E building~ For some reason this building looks... menacing. ~ E path~ This path is unusually wet and muddy, despite the weather... Maybe there's a spring or other water source down there. ~ E arch~ From this side the arch's inscription reads "Come back soon!" . ~ D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1902 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1911 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1908 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1900 S #1902 Entrance to the Hall of Mirrors~ This rickety wooden building is the Hall of Mirrors. Strangely there seems to be very few people around. A door into the hall is to the west, while another door is set into the north wall - however there seems to be no way of opening this door from this side. South leads back into the fairground. ~ ~ 0 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1901 D3 ~ ~ 1 -1 1903 S #1903 In the Hall of Mirrors~ You find yourself standing in a dark corridor. Bloodstains cover the floor, some of them fresh, and the stench of death and decay is almost stifling. A strange mirror stands here, making you look funny. ~ ~ 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1904 S #1904 In the Hall of Mirrors~ The hall of mirrors continues north and south. The walls here are splattered with gore and you can make out deep claw marks in the wood, Another strange mirror stands here, distorting your reflection. ~ ~ 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1905 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1903 S #1905 In the Hall of Mirrors~ You've reached a turn in the hall - maybe you're close to getting out of this nightmare. Thankfully the mirror here has been broken into a thousand pieces. ~ ~ 0 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1906 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1904 S #1906 In the Hall of Mirrors~ Another turn in the hall, and you catch sight of a glimmer of light to the south. Perhaps this is nearly the end of the hall. A very strange mirror stands here, and before it is a pile of bloody flesh and bone that might once have been a person. ~ ~ 0 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1907 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1905 S #1907 In the Hall of Mirrors~ Finally, the last room in the hall. The way out is through a door to the south, but here is yet another strange mirror! ~ ~ 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1906 D2 ~ ~ 1 -1 1902 S #1908 Heading for the jakes~ The smell gets a lot worse as you southward, and you realise that you're heading toward the public toilet trench! ~ ~ 0 2 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1901 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1909 S #1909 The jakes~ You're standing ankle-deep in mud, and to the east is the trench itself. The smell here is indescribably foul, and flies fill the air in a black cloud. ~ ~ 0 2 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1908 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1910 S #1910 Knee-deep in excrement~ Ugh! You're actually standing in the latrine trench. Anything you've eaten recently quickly joins the noisome mess, and you can't think of anything but getting out of here as fast as possible! ~ ~ 4 2 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1909 S #1911 The fairground stalls~ The west side of the fair seems to be mostly stalls selling food and drink. The stall that stands here is selling hot roasted chestnuts cooked in an iron brazier. To the east you can hear bright cheerful music playing. ~ ~ 0 2 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1912 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1919 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1918 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1901 S #1912 The fairground stalls~ The north-western corner of the fair is quite busy, with a lot of people gathering around the exhibition to the north. A stall here is doing a brisk trade in a range of ales. ~ ~ 0 2 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1920 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1913 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1911 S #1913 The fairground stalls~ A large stall has been set up here selling sweetmeats and cakes. Lively music comes from the south, while to the north you can see and hear a large cheering crowd. ~ ~ 0 2 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1926 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1914 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1919 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1912 S #1914 The fairground stalls~ The northeast corner of the fair is littered with the remains of food thrown out for the dogs. A stall here sells mystical charms made from a variety of unwholesome items. To the north you can hear the clatter and din of a dining tent, while to the east is the archery range. ~ ~ 0 2 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1921 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1923 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1915 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1913 S #1915 The fairground stalls~ Another stall stands here, apparantly selling potions, but it seems whoever was watching the stall has disappeared. Maybe he drank some of his own goods, or maybe there's a more sinister reason... ~ ~ 0 2 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1914 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1916 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1919 S #1916 The fairground stalls~ It's very quiet in the south-east corner of the fair. There's no stall here, just a patch of open ground. You can see the bandstand to the north-east, and can hear music being played with great gusto. ~ ~ 4 2 E board~ The board is loose and would be fairly easy to open, making a big enough hole for a person to fit through. ~ E bandstand~ Looking closely at the bandstand you realise there's a loose board near the bottom. ~ D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1915 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1917 D5 ~ board~ 65 -1 1934 S #1917 The fairground stalls~ The ground here is littered with sawdust which appears to have come from a large barrel on a stage. A sign on the barrel reads 'Lucky Dip'. From the south comes a loud braying noise which almost totally drowns out the music from the north. ~ ~ 0 2 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1919 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1916 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1944 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1918 S #1918 The fairground stalls near the jakes~ This corner of the fair isn't very popular, probably due to the smell coming from the south. A stall has been set up here selling a variety of dubious remedies for various illnesses. ~ ~ 0 2 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1911 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1917 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1910 S #1919 The bandstand~ No stalls here in the centre of the fair - instead a round stage has been constructed and on it is a folk band belting out the latest popular music and old favorites on a variety of instruments. Several people are sitting around on the grass listening. ~ ~ 0 2 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1913 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1915 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1917 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1911 S #1920 The Strongman's Stall~ A variety of weights, pulls, and heavy objects have been gathered here. A large brightly-painted sign proclaims this to be the place to see the World's Strongest Man, and quite a crowd has gathered. ~ ~ 0 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1912 S #1921 A dining tent~ A series of planks have been laid over trestles and posts to form long tables and benches. Dozens of people are here eating and drinking. Wenches carry huge platters to and from the kitchen tent to the east. ~ ~ 0 0 D1 ~ flap~ 1 -1 1922 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1914 S #1922 A kitchen~ This tent is fantastically steamy and smokey, and in the choking smog you can just about make out dozens of kitchen staff running around preparing food. ~ ~ 0 0 D3 ~ ~ 1 -1 1921 S #1923 The archery range~ A long stretch of field has been left open here for the archery tournament. At this end of the marked-out area are the lines where the archers will stand, while to the west are the targets. South from here a viewing stand has been erected. ~ ~ 0 2 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1924 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1925 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1914 S #1924 The archery range~ A series of targets have been placed here for the archery tournament. It's probably dangerous to be here actually, they look like they might mistake you for a target! ~ ~ 0 2 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1923 S #1925 A viewing stand overlooking the archery range~ This rickety viewing stand allows spectators to watch the archery contest in relative safety. A special seat has been placed here in case any VIPs come to watch. ~ ~ 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1923 S #1926 Watching the joust tourney~ A long rail with a gate in it is here stopping people walking onto the jousting track to the north. There's a lot of people here waiting to see the next match, and on the other side of the course you can see the VIP stands, where it's rumoured a foreign dignatory has come to watch. ~ ~ 0 2 D0 ~ gate~ 1 -1 1927 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1913 S #1927 In the centre of the jousting track~ You're standing in the centre of a jousting track. Down the middle runs a sturdy wooden rail to keep the horses from colliding. You can see three tents, one to the west and two to the east, and to the north is the VIP stands. South is a gate leading back to safety. ~ ~ 4 2 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1930 D2 ~ ~ 1 -1 1926 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1928 S #1928 The west end of the jousting track~ This end of the jousting track is where Sir Michael the Bold has his tent. It is richly appointed in the finest silks and furs, and has all the trappings a Knight might need, including a rack full of lances, a dummy to hold his armour, and a chest containing his valuables. ~ ~ 0 0 D2 ~ flap~ 1 -1 1928 S #1930 The east end of the jousting track~ This end of the jousting track is where Sir Stephen the Bolder has his tent. It is lavishly furnished with tapestries and thick rugs. A gold-plated rack holds his lances while an ornate stand shows where he hangs his armour between battles. What you first took to be a bed turns out to be a huge chest with a fur thrown over it. ~ ~ 0 0 D2 ~ tent~ 1 -1 1930 S #1932 The hospital tent~ This is the hospital tent, where surgeons and nurses await to treat the inevitable injuries sustained on the jousting track. A wooden tray holds all manner of gruesome instruments for cutting off limbs and draining fluid from cracked skulls. ~ ~ 0 0 D3 ~ flap~ 1 -1 1930 S #1933 Behind the jousting stands~ You find yourself standing behind the VIP stand that overlooks the jousting tournament. The bodies of several guards are here, and it is clear there is something sinister going on. ~ ~ 0 2 D2 ~ ~ 1 -1 1943 D5 ~ ~ 1 -1 1940 S #1934 A secret tunnel~ Now this is odd... This cramped tunnel shouldn't by rights be here. I wonder where it goes? ~ ~ 0 11 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1935 D4 ~ ~ 65 -1 1916 S #1935 A secret tunnel~ The tunnel turns north here and continues into the gloom. Far to the north you think you can see light. ~ ~ 0 11 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1936 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1934 S #1936 A secret tunnel~ The tunnel must be directly underneath the bandstand now, because you can hear the music overhead and dirt showers you with every bang of the drum. ~ ~ 0 11 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1937 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1935 S #1937 A secret tunnel~ Still the tunnel continues. The light to the north is getting much brighter, and you think you can hear someone or something moving around down here with you. ~ ~ 0 11 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1938 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1936 S #1938 A secret tunnel~ The tunnel splits here, someone has dug a tunnel off to the west which seems to go into a chamber of some sort. You can still see light to the north. ~ ~ 0 11 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1939 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1937 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1941 S #1939 A secret tunnel~ The light to the north is much brighter now, and you can make out the end of the tunnel to the north. ~ ~ 0 11 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1940 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1938 S #1940 A secret tunnel~ You have reached the end of the tunnel. A badly-fitting trap door has been installed above your head, and it seems to lead outside, since you can see daylight through the gaps. ~ ~ 0 11 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1939 D4 ~ ~ 1 -1 1933 S #1941 An underground chamber~ Someone has hollowed out the tunnel here to make a passable chamber. There are digging tools lying about and a dirt-encrusted bedroll. Whoever has been making this tunnel must've been doing it for some time. ~ ~ 0 11 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1938 S #1942 Mobchute~ If you're here, and not an Imm, report this now. ~ ~ 34049 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1900 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1912 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1921 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1916 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 1919 S #1943 The jousting stands~ You are standing on the jousting stands that overlook the track itself. From here you can clearly make out Sir Michael and Sir Stephen lining up for another charge at each other. A door at the bottom of the stands leads out onto the track so a visiting VIP can go out and present the victor with his prize. ~ ~ 0 0 D0 ~ ~ 1 -1 1933 D2 ~ ~ 65 -1 1927 S #1944 The donkey ride~ This is supposed to be the donkey ride stall but there's not much left of it. You can see the owner cowering behind a pile of smashed wood that might have been a booth. ~ ~ 0 2 E owner~ There's no way he's coming out from behind there. ~ D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1917 S #0
