Welcome to the mystical fantasy world that is The Edge of Darkness. Within
this ancient alternate reality lies a vast medieval realm know as Doraak,
filled with adventure, danger and wonders beyond imagination. Almost every
type of terrain conceivable can be found within Doraak's ever expanding
boundaries..from the icy arctic wastelands to the mine-filled Tahrenian
mountain ranges of the dwarves. There are the sprawling grasslands of the
west and the great barren deserts of the far south. There are numerous
islands in the northern and southern oceans and there are the measureless
swamps of the east. There are all these regions, plus hundreds more just
waiting to be explored. And throughout all of these lands lie countless
ancient forests, some of which are bright and pleasant, yet others are damp,
dark and perilous. In this realm, any path can lead to discovery,
adventure…or death!

These wild, rugged lands are only recently beginning to yield to the
influences of civilized society, as the many humanoid races of Doraak
struggle to establish small pockets of civilization amongst the far-reaching
and untamed wilderness. There are a number of cities and villages that can
provide safe haven to a weary adventurer. However, even these seemingly
peaceful towns can offer far more than just a good night's rest, to the
inquisitive or careless explorer.

In spite of humankind's best efforts, there are still dark forces at work
within Doraak, which seek to undermine all that has been accomplished. Both
the minions of evil and the misguided good lurk everywhere throughout the
realms, and beyond, building strength and patiently waiting for their time
to come again…

The Soul Ruins was a UCMM affiliated MUD before the network was shutdown. Launched in early 2000, it was the showcase ResortMUD 4.0b MUD. The code is highly modified and the world is all original.

Mordor's unequaled road system consists of an extremely accurate map based on Tolkien's map of Middle Earth. Explore over 70 unique areas throughout Middle Earth including: Isengard, Edoras, Midgewater, Helms Deep, Fangorn, Shelob's Lair, Lothlorien, Rivendell, Lonely Mountain, Barad-dur, Dol Guldur, Durthang, Mount Doom, Bree, Westfarthing, everywhere the Fellowship ventured, and many more areas from Tolkien lore.

Mordor's unique multi-class system, along with its remort classes and extended race selection, allows you to completely customize your character. Role-play as good or evil and engage in player vs. player battles by joining an alliance such as the Eye of Sauron, the Hand of Saruman, the Haradrim, the Last Alliance, the Northern Rangers, or the White Council. For riskier adventurers, Mordor also offers a few independent guilds where you may participate in player vs. player combat without the loyalties or protection of an alliance. We also have an alliance dedicated to helping newbies - the Guardians of Mordor. All alliances are ever evolving by expanding their halls and adding new equipment.

We have a full time Quest Master and often offer unique Immortal run quests. The Immortal staff is constantly building and programming new features for Mordor, and the player base consists of many different characters. Mordor, even after being around for over a decade, is still consistently modifying itself to ensure balance and excitement for all of the players.
MorgenGrauen is a native German LPmud. It was founded in 1992 and has been prospering since. The world features an original fantasy setting with many facets. The 13 domains form a big world with 15000 rooms to explore and several thousand NPCs. You can choose between 7 races and 8 classes (guilds).
Advancing is done through a combination of exploration points, experience points, class skills, finished adventures and some more. The levels are unlimited, current maximum is about 170. After becoming a high level player it's possible to become a wizard and add your own imagination to the game.
We are especially proud of attracting a number of visually impaired players who very much enjoy playing a text based online RPG. That's why we have an option to turn off ascii-graphics.
Multiplaying is a bit restricted and scripting is discouraged.

for all your leveling enjoyment. We've recently gone through a major re-write
of the power levels in the game in an effort to make the place more enjoyable
for all. We offer five clans so far, with room for plenty more as people
create them. We are a newbie friendly game with a staff that pays attention
to the needs and desires of our players. New changes and tweaks are made on
a daily basis, with plenty more coming. We've only been open a few months this
time, but the code has been worked on for over 9 years.

We have a number of unique areas to go along side the standard places that
you all are familiar with. We span genres from Sci-Fi to modern day to the
traditional fantasy. PK is allowed, but only between members of clans. RP
is acceptable too (and getting moreso every day). There are imm sponsored
quests as well as the traditional quest master kind. Once you reach hero the
game really begins, with 5 different tiers of equipment available and the
ability to modify your equipment. Simply put we are trying to appeal to the
largest number of people we can while still attempting to keep some form of

We are the best MUD because the staff spends all their time trying to figure out how to make playing the game as fun as possible. We have diverse and challenging quests, and we have tons of them. Our character classes are actually different from each other. Combat is interesting and balanced. The game world is an amalgamy of areas from all sorts of video games plus original areas. And I really do mean all sorts: Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Earthbound, Tactics Ogre, Super Mario World, Mega Man, Ocarina of Time - even things as esoteric as Zork and River City Ransom. We have roleplaying, we have holiday events, we even have the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo.

A strangely familiar world is before you to explore. Vast mountains, spanning deserts and seemingly endless oceans are just awaiting an adventurer such as yourself. Perhaps you serve the God Sun, devoted to good and cleansing the land of danger and death. Perhaps you are devoted to the Moon, intent on spreading havoc and evil in every form. Or maybe you're a derived of Earth, and merely want to live a peaceful life. It's up to you how you live in these lands, and up to you if you become famous…or infamous.
RavenMUD was originally started by a handful of people from Da Shadow's Domain and ShadowMUD. After many modifications from its original code Raven now has many unique features including: improved A.I. Mobs (NPCs) using special procedures and more recently DG Scripts, multi functional magic items, numerous operational cities, and an online creation system, just to list a few. Player grouping and role playing are quite popular with 11 classes and 11 standard plus 9 remort races to choose from. Exploring Raven's vast and ever expanding areas will not be a hassle, with saved aliases and abbreviated commands to ease the amount of typing. Clans and custom clan housing that offers to many options to list add greatly to an already rich role playing environment. Planned and impromptu quests are frequently run with various0themes and objectives that range from capture the flag, city defense, seek and destroy, rescue missions, treasure hunts,
capture the flag, and many many more. A talented Imm and mortal staff continuously produce original areas and improve game play in many facets. An entire city is devoted to players new to MUDs is available to start in with helpful and informative mobs and help files to get your journey underway. Raven is very stable and has been around for quite sometime and will continue to exist indefinitely. Whether new to the game or a veteran this is everything you are looking for in a MUD.
The development mud for the Dead Souls game.
We are a very new MUD, currently looking for builders/coders and individuals
who can collaborate with the admin team on new and cool ideas for the game. It
is based on the Star Wars: Rise In Power game, which I played a while back when
it was running. The general idea I have in mind is to create new planets, new ships,
add lots more code.. here's an outline of what I have in mind:

- create special areas with very tough NPCs and puzzles that you have to solve,
like in legend of zelda. You'd have to group to enter these areas as well, we
might have to code a grouping/loot distribution system.

- create new technology, such as transporters that allow cargo and people to be
transported between orbitting ships and planets.

- we could create defined roles so that players would have more of an idea what
to do in the game. There are already classes like pilot, smuggler, combat… but
we could elaborate upon them: mercenary, bodyguard, intelligence officer, cargo
transporter, diplomatic envoy, etc.

- We will work together to make the best possible gaming experience for our players!

- By the way, I have checked items in this MUD entry that are not necessarily in
the game at this time. However, I do plan to add them eventually.

Dragonball - Resurrection of Truth is back and is now open for players. We offer a wide selection of races, most from the DBZ and DBGT series along with a DBT custom race known as the Angels. More custom races will be adding including the Casyr and Dragon races. Every race has a racial specialty along with many unique skills only found on DBT and DBrT along with transformations that are well balanced and unique. Our Role Playing system is highly in depth, creative, and fun. Players can do just about anything from be a hero and protect the weak and innocent, a villain set out conquer everything in their way, or even a mercenary who looks after their self. Another thing we offer that most DBZ muds don't in Role Playing is the ability to launch two Ki attacks at the same time as well as charge multiple Ki attacks to make them stronger. The Player vs. player aspect of the mud is just as creative. On DBrT when two players agree to a PvP battle they are teleported to the PvP arena. Once their the players cannot quit or recall unless they decide to chicken out. When a player is killed by another player, while in the PvP arena or not, they are sent to the After Life where they cannot quit or recall with out either taking a long trip down snake way or being revived which only a few races can do. We have probably one of DBT's most beloved features, Fishing. This gives players another way to gain a little gold, learning points, and the occasional level. This is great for the times when training, RPing, and PvPing just don't seem appealing and is a great time passer. Our most recent addition that has been added is the Experience Mode. This feature multiplies the amount of experience they player will receive after killing mobs by the amount that the Experience Mode has been set to by a high ranking Immortal. Supremacy is a stock ASSAULT 3.0 MUD. People can build a base and then
choose to defend it, attack the bases of other people armed with a
Kalashnikov and a stack of C4, or a combination of both.

There are no big plans, just bug fixes, minor improvements, and giving
people who liked the original Assault: High Tech War a place to hang
I will add more here later. Wake is cool though!
Currently being worked on by a meager staff that's trying to recruit new blood while maintaining a constant stream of new updates. However the MUD's world itself however still resembling a stock ROM will over time be made into a beautiful world of fantasy and steam-powered machinery. Using characters, stories, and locations initially made during years of Dungeons and Dragons sessions (playing a custom module) that later would be used to begin creating the skeleton of a RPG video game that still as you read this is in the process of development.

The areas will be original, no anime/movie/literary/video game based areas- strictly areas created for the world of Clockwork. Character classes range from the paladin-like Marshall Guards and the fun loving Tricksters to the hex wielding Diabolists and the dirty sea-faring Pirate. 4 deities are currently available for characters to worship, 1 evil, 1 good, 2 neutral, and more are on the way. A wide range of races, each with various advantages and disadvantages. Roleplay is strongly encouraged and will be rewarded.

Currently we offer:

- 16 classes available upon creation
- Over 25 races
- An auto-quest system
- Several pk clans available from the start, each with their own connections to the game's world
- ANSI Color
- Equipment saving on exit

And in works so as to be coming in the near future:

- A remort system featuring 2 additional tiers, with the 2nd tier set opening up 16 additional classes, and the 3rd tier set of which will include special quest requirements to unlock and will feature several additional class choices including special race-related classes.

- Several ways of character customization to help enhance the roleplay experience
- Multiple additional autoquest system, each with their own rewards and perils

The Final Challenge began in March of 1994, and is more
commonly known to those who play it as TFC or 'the mud'. It
has a dedicated, addicted, & friendly player base from all
over the world that enjoys meeting new people and
interacting. TFC attracts a variety of types of players.
You'll find players who place a heavy emphasis on role-
playing, those who are PKers, those who enjoy the puzzles,
challenges, and mobmasteries in the game, those who enjoy
exploring the almost entirely unique 12,000+ room world,
those who like to sit and chat, & those who are a mixture
of all of the above. And you won't get lost in the crowd -
since there are generally 20-30 people online at a time.

TFC has a god-follower system and a variety of alignment
flavors that a character can choose from. Of course,
characters can also go it on their own and remain
unaligned. Characters may dual and triple class as well.
Players may also have multiple characters (and many do), so
long as they are not online at the same time and are played
as separate individuals. Stop by 4000
and check it out for yourself.
Alter Aeon is a custom MUD written entirely from scratch. The theme is fantasy, with magic, swords, and sorcery. There's little technology, and what there is, is either imported, misunderstood, or both. There are six character classes, and the game is structured entirely around multiclassing. Your true class as you reach higher levels is usually a combination of your top two or three classes, and the skillsets you pick. PK and PvP is only allowed via temporary registration.

Note that Alter Aeon is not an RP enforced or encouraged game. We have big system events every month or two which can be RP, but most player interaction is not. That said, the world has an amazing amount of lore, backstory, and history. There are hundreds of story-based quests and storylines, some of them spanning continents.

Other features:

- A high userload, regularly exceeding a hundred active players

Pern, the third planet from the star Rukbat, was colonized by settlers from a far-future Earth seeking a less technologically-dependent existence. The ideals of the colonists were upset by the coming of Thread, a mindless space organism that eats everything it touches that isn't metal, stone or water.

Currently set on Pern's northern continent in the Tenth Interval, NorConMush explores the fallout from a recent Comet Pass, an unexpected return of Thread ten turns into what was expected to be 200 turns of Threadfree skies. Our timeline originally picked up from the end of "The White Dragon" where a non-functional AIVAS was discovered and relegated to the dust heap of history. As such the events that took place in ATWoP have not occurred and our Pern continues to struggle with the cycle of Passes and Intervals and the push and pull of politics and social change that it entails.
