If you can't use these commands at all, it means your character is
unauthorized, and you'll need to contact the administration about getting
approval to use dig or other commands.  The reason for approval is to keep
things fair by only allowing one character per player to dig, build, and
things like that.  See information under AUTHORIZATION.

When you enter the game, things probably look very different to you.  Instead 
of rooms, you see a large map.  If you don't have color on, now is a good time 
to use it.  The map is very helpful if you can see it in color.  Nevertheless, 
it still works in black and white.  Here are some symbols from the map:

To see what skills you've learned, type SKILLS.  Unfortunately, you can only 
fill this list by using and learning new abilities.  Ask around for 
information on things you can learn, or try these few helpful commands:
     dig          chop          gather
     use          build         harvest

What does it mean if it says you don't have permission to do them?  You're on 
somebody else's land!  Type POLITICAL, then have a look around.  (Note that 
this only works with color on).  You'll see that the land is colored where 
it's owned by someone.  You'll want to find some unclaimed land to start your 
own empire.

Equipment:
It is never wise to travel without the proper equipment.  You'll need to dig 
up rocks and fashion them into weapons, then kill and skin animals to make 
clothes.  You can also trade with other people.
 wield rock            - you'll need to be using one, and have another
 chip rock             - chip at the rock in your inventory until it cracks
 chip rock             - do it again to get a handaxe
 remove rock           - stop using one
 wield handaxe         - you'll also need a stick
 scrape stick          - clean the stick, to make a handle
 remove handaxe        - stop wielding it
 attach handaxe handle - put the handaxe on the end of a stick
 wield axe             - now you can chop trees!

About Staying Fit - Eating and Drinking:
At one time or another, you'll see the message "You are hungry".  This means 
that it's time to find something edible before too long.  People don't starve
to death in this world, so have no fear.  However, when you are hungry, you do
not build up lost energy, so eventually you'll be unable to do anything but 
sit around and feel sorry for yourself, until someone comes by.  Then, you can 
only hope that it's a benevolent person, rather than a greedy thief or a 
warrior lusting for blood.

Additional Utilities:
 mortlog   - Default on, tells you about deaths and when players log in
 mappc     - Shows you where other players are on the map as <oo>
 political - Changes the map colors to empire colors
 mapcolor  - Turns off color for the map only, which is useful sometimes
