House Rules CLASSES Assassins are NOT spellcasting classes in the Mud20 System. Instead they are granted additional mundane abilities and bonus feats that are more consistent with their profession. All casting prestige classes' casting ability is treated as an enhancement to a base class casting ability. This includes classes like the Blackguard, which had its own spell list in the D20 SRD. This means that as they progress in level, instead of having spells in their own class, they, like the Mystic Theurge, Loremaster, etc, add levels to their base divine or arcane class' spell ability. This made things codally simpler, and arguably more balanced. MULTICLASSING You cannot multiclass both as a sorcerer and a wizard. IC Reason: The way both practices of arcane magic are managed, it would be impossible for a person who casts based on intrinsic or intuitive gift to then devote them selves to dedicated study and perusal, and vice versa. OOC reason: This code considers things like taking a level of sorcerer to get around class limitations like specialist's prohibited schools is metagaming. If you adopt a prestige class, you may NOT adopt another unless you complete the one you've already chosen. Likewise, like Monks and Paladins, if you leave the prestige class you're in, you will not be able to gain any more levels in it. Yes, this means you could conceivably lock yourself out of ever having more than one prestige class. Prestige classes do NOT count toward other prestige classes' prerequisites, for example, the additional spell ability granted by a Loremaster will not count to qualify you for another class that requires a minimum caster level of arcane or divine spells. All the caster levels must come from the base class. You cannot multiclass between a druid and a cleric. IC Reason: You either focus your faith through nature, or the more civilized world. There are separate sects of priesthood for faiths that have both classes. You would not, as a priest, cross between those sects. MAGIC If you are prohibited as a cleric from casting spells with a certain alignment descriptor, you are not allowed to learn or cast it in ANY multiclass either. IC Reason: Being a cleric is about adhering to the ethos of one's faith. If you can't be consistent as a whole person in your dedication to that ethos, then you aren't being a good cleric. Any divine caster will not be able to cast a spell that requires a divine focus (holy symbol) unless they have a patron deity. Clerics shall further not be able to advance beyond the 2nd level as a cleric without a patron. IC Reason: They are called divine spells for a reason.
