The innkeep, Looney the Elf, is here, wiping down a glass.

Looney is probably the oldest elf you have ever seen, at least 3000 years
old.  It is said that he was on Dragon's Haven even before the coming of
Searall.  Watching Looney for a bit, you realize he is *always* wiping the
same glass, and he serves his customers out of dirty glasses.  Better use
your own.

A small guardpost~
A small guardpost is here, guarding the end of the Great Southwest Road. 
Trees shadow the ramshackle building, and to the west of the building, past
a gate, you can make out the road itself.  To the stands the gates of the
City of Lukhan.  A small trail wanders off.  A rotten wooden {rsign{x is
posted over the door of the guardhouse.

The road is muddy here, and well covered with grass. It appears as though
not very many people traverse the road here. To the north you can see the
peaks of the southern Dorn mountains in the far distance, and to the west,
looms the great peak of Mt. Krestin.

Here the road curves to the southwest gradually, avoiding some jagged hills
immeidiately to the west. The altitude is rising sharply, and the air is getting
thinner. The trees here are more and more evergreen than before.

A north-south stretch of the road~
The road runs from north to south here through a proud stand of trees. To
the north the road bends to the east, and farther north in the misty distance
is the southern Dorn range of mountains. South of here, the road turns
west again, skirting the jagged hills.

A westerly bend in the road~
The road turns a westerly direction here, and through a gap in the trees you
can see the soaring peak of Mt. Krestin piercing the sky to the west. You
can are much higher in altitude than before. The road here is becoming very
rocky, and the mud is a thing of the past.

The road begins to break out of the trees here, and the peak of Mt. Krestin
obliterates anything else from view to the west. What seems like a mile up
the slope, the road turns to the south to skirt the peak itself. A cold wind

On the road east of the the Canyon Gorge~
This is the east edge of the Chermatin Canyon Gorge.  A huge bridge
crosses the canyon, which must be over a mile across.  The roar of the water
in the gorge deafens out almost all other sounds.

towers of the legendary city of CenterLand ahead to the northwest. The
road seems quite well maintained here.

Farmhouses line the road here, and the traffic of people slow you down
somewhat. To the north you can see the towers of CenterLand, and to the
southeast in the distance you can make out the blue ribbon of the Chermatin

Past CenterLand to the northwest you can see the even higher peak of
Center Mountain.

The CrossRoads~
You stand outside the south gate of CenterLand.  Guards stand to both sides
of the gate keeping order.  The gates are made of clean white stone, and the
fabled city lies beyond.  To the west, the road continues down into the

Main room of the Looney Elf Inn~
This is the main room of the looney elf inn. There are several people around,
and the atmosphere seems very relaxed. The walls have flowers and portraits
on them. You notice a couple of the portraits have been hung upside down.
There is a door to the west to the stables, and a staircase which leads to the
rooms.
