Just so that no one else is as surprised as Crat and I were to find out…
MudBytes has apparently chosen 3 Moderators, and given them their respective powers. THose Mods appear to be Hades_Kane, Dean, and Orrin.
I'd like to extend congratulations to all of them and at the same time, ask the following questions.
1. Who the hell is Orrin? 2. When was the announcement? 3. Did I miss it? 4. If I didn't miss it, When was it going to happen, After they moderated something?

Remember that stuff about us being human that was discussed before? Yeah, that. I thought Davion had made an announcement already about this. Maybe he thought I was going to do it. It's a miscommunication. Nothing more. You guys can all calm down and stop making drama where there's none to be made now. Because, seriously, that's just getting old.

It was a mistake, sure. I think people realize that. But it still would have been nice to treat the issue with particular, extra care, given how sensitive it was to many people.

I don't know Dean too well, but I think these are good choices. HK and Orrin are both level-headed long time MUD developers and community members. Orrin develops the FMud flash client, Maiden Desmodus, and runs MudGamers and posts at bc-dev.net btw.
I for one welcome our new unannounced forum overlords…

Better hope they're more of the domination type, rather than destructive.

So you're apologising, right? You're holding up your hands and saying "okay, I admit it, we f*cked up, and your reaction is completely justified. We're sorry, we will try to do better in future, and we are discussing what procedures we can put in place to ensure that we don't f*ck up in the same way again."
That's what you're saying, right?
I have to ask, because it sounds a lot like you're trying to claim that you haven'tdone anything wrong and that, on the contrary, people are being unreasonable and should even be apologising to you for complaining. And if that'swhat you're saying, then that's a nice analogy of what has been going wrong with the moderation policy on this site recently; it's that sort of attitude which leads to a proliferation of "inb4lock" b*llocks when people get annoyed by it. (Let's hope we can avoid it this time).
There might have been more of a desire to be all nice and polite and fall all over ourselves to beg forgiveness for making a mistake if the assumption hadn't simply been that it was a deliberate effort on our parts to make more "stealth changes". So you'll have to forgive me if I'm not in the mood to play nice with people such as yourself who aren't willing to do the same and leave their bad attitudes at the door.
You'll just need to forgive your users if they judge your current behavior based on your past behavior.
Well to be perfectly honest and open here, moderation would be entirely unnecessary if it weren't for a few users spoiling the entire affair. Might be something to think about, yes?

No, I think the users are the ones might consider forgiving as an option.

Have either of you, Koron or Shasarak, even participated in any threads that don't deal with moderation?
I see your names a lot in mod-related threads, but your post counts are both fairly low.
This leaves me to question your interests on mudbytes.
A quick check of their posts lists reveals the answer to that loaded question, which is yes, they do participate in other threads. There's also nothing wrong with having a high interest in threads of this nature. After all, on a forum that is moderated the topic of moderation itself is fairly important.

Hmm, why, yes, actually, that would be something for all of us to think about.
You're pointing all kinds of accusatory fingers at people who haven't left their bad attitudes at the door. You're acting as though some people have inherently bad attitudes, and aren't in fact truly upset about something, and aren't feeling that they just got slapped in the face regarding an issue that was extremely important to them. Basically, people are feeling very upset and insulted, and your best answer is dripping sarcasm, more accusations and so forth. Why don't we try to be more constructive? People are very upset: maybe some tact would be appropriate. (And of course, this applies to everybody.)

This is somewhat odd coming from somebody who seems to principally engage in inane "thread derailment" – a specialty that you cry on the rooftops in your signature. So what are your interests here?
People are upset over a bunch of drama on a forum?
Some people have inherently bad attitudes? You say this as though it's impossible.
The main jist I got was that people are upset with who we chose, not that we chose them, and didn't bother to give anyone here even the slightest bit of a chance to explain that it was just a simple miscommunication among admins that it wasn't announced the second the decision was made. So you'll have to just forgive me if I'm a bit upset that people jumped to a whole lot of crazy conclusions based on absolutely nothing.

I see your name associated with ad hominems a lot, and that leaves me to question your interests in this thread. Furthermore, there is a neat button you can click to see all posts by a certain member, and I suspect you know this. Go troll someone else.

I honestly don't think the "entire affair" has been spoiled. Perhaps there have been disruptions*, but this site is still running according to normal operation procedures as far as I can tell. I don't know if a few bad apples can indeed spoil the bunch, but I do know that those are the ones you don't want to eat. I don't like that the impression I get of your attitude is that of a victim who can do no wrong, especially right after you've admitted to being a human who can make mistakes. I will admit that I am able to misread people, however, so this may not be the impression others get.
*Note that my opinion is that any disruptions that occurred were largely the result of administrative mishandling, which by now is probably a moot point anyway. (If anyone disagrees, my PM box is open.) Maybe this site needs to hire a PR consultant. :P
