When Lord Cthulhu wakes up from his nap, you will all be eaten, and in your last moments you will wonder why you wasted so much energy arguing over this. So there. :P

However, the problem is if someone running a mud forum/network wants to turn political/cultural/religious differences into a ban fest, that's not a productive thing.

Oh, that would definitely be interesting. Could you point me to the forum where people are talking about doing that? I'm sure it would make for entertaining reading.

This would be a good start: http://www.mudbytes.net/index.php?a=topi...

I think the actual thread where several people called for me to be banned over my scientific viewpoints (which subsequently happened) has been deleted.

Is this really necessary?

This has gotten to a point where it's sad.

I think the fact that we're all stupid is another position me and Tyche share. I think Bukowski said it best when he wrote:
the best often die by their own hand
just to get away,
and those left behind
can never quite understand
why anybody
would ever want to
get away
from
them

I promised my mamma I'd go out with a bang.
Death
Be kind
When I see you
Embrace me one last time
If I waver and turn back
Hold me

And
When the
Bullet becomes
The last thought running through
My head - and I know that I'm gone
Soothe me

I'm not entirely sure you're reading the same thread I am. If you're suggesting my opinion in regards to the IMC rules are also applicable to MudBytes forums (or other mud community sites, then yes. Well this thread is a case in point. How many times are you going to shout, "I'm offended! Troll! Racist! Sexist!"? Is there a point to it? Is there some sort of counter you bump by claiming troll?

Tyche, at the risk of being naive, are you asking a serious question to which you want a serious response?

Unterminated paren. Yellow card.

While I wish David wouldn't keep taking the bait
and get his petticoats all a-twist over Scandum's
dumbth, there's nothing inherently wrong with David
calling it as he sees it, as long as Scandum is doing
likewise. Complaining about his expression of distaste
makes you sound like a liberal puss.

I'm perfectly happy to sound that way, myself. I'm just
a little surprised you've got yourself here in the playpen
with us, tough guy. What do you expect to gain?

Yes, Scandum is trolling like a mofo. And yes, it's ok to
call him on it, because it's obscured the OP discussion…and
more than that, it's actually undermining the very position
he ostensibly holds.

This is starting to sound like a personal vendetta.

I think it's in everyone's best interest to start ignoring Cratylus and his trolling.

You know Cratylus, I just don't understand why you can't stop yourself from trolling, it seems like the only thing you can do these days. =)
