It almost seems pointless to buy a Windows VPS to host a MUD.
Just to host a MUD, probably, unless you're going commercial in which case you'd want the bandwidth - but that's true of a Linux VPS too. With Mono maturing to a 2.0 release very soon, it's really no longer necessary to get a Windows VPS like it was almost two years ago.
For me, I make a living with .NET, so having a playground for ASP.NET is useful for me and the cost is really negligible to my budget.
