Apocalyptic Legacy

I'm the owner of a stock SMAUG MUD and I've been adding newer and more original content to is for awhile now. But it'd be nice to see some more traffic going there and get some active players. The world population is not that big at this point but at least 4+ people online at all times wouldn't be bad. :p

Even if you're not a "builder" we're noobie friendly and will help with any questions you need answered.

My Yahoo!: amorsanguinis
Theme: Apocalyptic
Size: As big as possible.
IP: 173.28.20.72
PORT: 4000

Oh, and for free hosting http://www.frostmud.com

By content, do you mean areas? Code? Both?

Don't you think it'd be both? Lol.

Since you're some new guy posting vague requests for help, I don't think it's appropriate to make assumptions about your efforts. Lots of people try to start muds with no coding experience. Others have absolutely no skills to offer the world at all, but still think they can create a successful game. Stickorectomy, much?

PS: lol.

Also, in Smaug, that's a perfectly valid question. The traditional builder doesn't code. Because Smaug supports mudprogs, one might expect some builders to want to add soft-code into their creations, yet still not be coders. A traditional coder, on a Dikurivative, has access to and modifies the source of the game driver.

So, no… *I* wouldn't think it would be both, because most admins don't give random builders they just met via the internet full access to the source code of their game. It's not unheard of, but it is unusual.

That guy has no idea what coding means, or he is a very fast learner. Not less than 4 days ago, he asked the following question:

I just got the SMAUG source code and every time I edit something it never shows up in-game? What am I doing wrong?

Well if we're going to be outing people for what they say on TMC:

I do have coding experience just nothing to this extent and yes, I do believe I can bring a lot to MY world. Most of you guys are being complete cocks about me trying to build a MUD. What does it matter to you? I asked for some builders to help me, not for trolls. GTFO please.

Well, as a "prospective" builder, you've just shown me how immature you are, and what a terrible idea it would be to put in time for your game. So, way to go.

On another note, I've been trying to log into your mud for the past two days to see what this "custom content" is. I caught a random post on TMC where you said you wanted to start a mud.. and this was like a week ago. Unfortunately, none of your listed addresses or ports work.

Or maybe that's just for the best. If I logged in and saw nothing but stock areas, I'd start a serious bitch-rant. By the time you'd have figured out what the ban command was, I'd probably be a good 3-4 paragraphs into it.

This is also weird since I've had more than a few people come to my MUD. So you're doing something wrong or that info is old.

I am unable to connect with the info you posted at the top of this thread. You should check that it is still correct.

Yeah, that connects just fine for me, but not to your mud.

192.168.* is a private IP address. Private IP addresses are not routed over the internet at large. Nobody outside of your LAN will ever be able to connect using that. You need to tell us your public IP address.

I think 127.0.0.1 is it but I had a friend tell me to go to "whatismyip.com" and it showed me something else and he told me to put the second one in? Was he wrong and was I right in the beginning? Lol.

Oh, and the firewall. I don't think so. I had a friend get on it my firewall popped up and I allowed him through. So wouldn't it give me the option for everyone else? :p
