I've been having issues with external variables ever since my server upgraded gcc. I'm fine with the extra clean up, but I can't figure out the issue with type FILE. Anyone know what the issue is?

I imagine that either stdio.h is not being included by character.c, or that cstdio is being included and you're having namespace resolution issues.
