I may be late on this, but I've just noticed that you're a Mudbytes moderator/administrator once again, Samson. I was under the impression that you had thrown in the towel for good. I.e, the stress of being a moderator here or whatnot being too much for you to deal with or otherwise handle. Is your re-return an indication that you've found a way to effectively deal with the stress, or should future blowups or incidents be expected?

I ask, publicly, because I'm concerned about the future of this site and what its environment is or will become, as well as how that will end up affecting me as a poster here on Mudbytes. I have no problem admitting that my recent decision to post more frequently here as opposed to TMC was largely due to your recent decision to step down from being a moderator (the forum being more modern and functional by comparison to TMC is the other part of my decision). While I have no problems giving people second, third, Nth, whatever, chances as long as they are able to learn from and grow past their prior issues, I'm not so sure that I can trust you as a moderator yet; especially considering how little time has passed since the "end" of the aforementioned situation. Effectively speaking, saying so has no impact in that my dissent on the matter has no viability; public opinion has no direct or ultimate effect on whether or not someone is a moderator here. Regardless of that, I still state my opinion on the matter.

Please explain. Publicly.

Well, As I understood it when Davion explained on IMC last night when someone on there realized he'd been reinstated, Samson's an admin again, but won't be taking on any moderator roles. He's just going to handle the other administrative tasks, like maintaining the code repository, and the back-end stuff like the QSFP Software that runs the site.

Samson?

I thought i should post so that it does not look like Samson had a Lobotomy. Now on a more serious note, i did not even notice he as regained an admin position, I'm cool with it, and i bet he will be busy as hell merging all that code from MM into the repository here anyways to be concerned with many other matters.

Samson is an integral part of the mudbytes dev team. He will not be involved in any sort of moderation with the forums.

I'd say without a doubt, future blowups or incidents should be expected. Nature of the beats and all that.

Me either. Which is why I'm not going to be doing any of that. There are other functions of the site which I am involved with that require I have administrative access through the front end.

Somewhere in the big long 15 pager of a thread where this all got sorted out, I mentioned that if I was wanted back as an admin on the site that I wouldn't refuse the reinstatement if it was offered. It was offered, partly due to the number of people who didn't wish to see me walk away, and partly because of what Davion mentioned. They felt my presence here as an admin is valuable. It actually took longer than expected due to a slight misunderstanding about what I'd meant about sticking mostly to back end work.

And just for the record, I still prefer to have issues like this handled in private and would appreciate it if any further questions regarding myself are handled that way in the future. I don't see much need in explaining further on this in any other manner.

Heh. You mean like how someone tried to provoke me just today by making it look like Kyndig blamed me for MM/MR going down? :)

I swear, I have no idea who it is yet but they're not accomplishing much.

HAHA yeah that's stupid. I don't know about you, but i would be taking down the form mailer just so i didn't have to deal with that sort of crap. In the last week or so i got myself a stalker also, but all he does is put spam into my positions vacant mail form. I have emailed eapps tech support and they are helping me track down who it is. If anything i might be able to block the Ip.

I actually pointed out to Kyndig on TMC that you were over here asking people to respect his decision and privacy in this matter, and he actually thanked you at some point for that.

I understand, and I'm glad that you've decided to handle the matter so responsibly. I feel that my concerns have been put to rest now. As for bringing this matter up publicly, I felt that some sort of public topic on the matter was necessary in order to have things cleared up where others can see it and not also be confused on the matter without it. As it was mentioned the matter was brought up previously on IMC, however there are still likely more posters than merely myself who are not active on IMC or at least on when it came up there that could have been similarly confused upon noticing the change at some point in the future.

To that end, I've been a little bit surprised that some sort of announcement (by the administration or otherwise) in the forum itself was not made regarding the matter. I think it could have alleviated the need for this thread or any such inquiry altogether. Although, I now notice that there's no Announcements section to the forums, which strikes me as rather odd…

Yes, an announcement of some kind would probably have been nice, but, well, eh… Parts of this need to be public, other parts didn't; an announcement would have served it all in one go as diplomatically as possible.

Check the middle of the front page for the "announcements section".

Samson: Welcome back, it's good to have you still on-board as more than just a member.

There really should be a section for ads/staff recruitment..

Tis the only thing we don't have here.

That's not really the same thing, though. I more or less tend to ignore that part of the site, even though I probably shouldn't. I'm just used to reading notes in an announcement section of a forum when using any particular forum - with the added benefit of such notes showing up in the recent notes ticker, since that's the first thing I look at when I go to Mudbytes. I wonder if the News section needs to be enhanced to make it stand out a little more; maybe a bigger font for the "News" header or something?

I didn't even notice that there wasn't some sort of promotions section. Although, in leiu of there actually being one wouldn't such things still be able to be posted in the General section, or is that frowned upon here?

I think it would be nice if the news were integrated into the forum page one way or the other… I haven't looked at the front page deliberately for as long as I can remember. It could work with automatic topic generation like the article section, except that the contents would be copied as well.

News is actual posts, but they seem to just be hidden.
