Cool, are the instances dynamically re-sizable or do you have to jump between set tiers like the $5, $10, etc?

I'm curious if this could be used as an online "cold storage" for backups. Spawn a larger instance, fill it, snapshot it, then destroy it. Reload the snapshot once you need to access your backups.
