VRML2.0 is quite usable :already and may be fun to hack with. Besides, 3D VRML window along with all :traditional text stuff would look cool, I think. VRML is still kinda slow, :have to admit. But its getting faster and for now 3D window could be not :THAT big. How much bandwidth would it take to send over the descriptions that VRML needs to create the images? How much work would it be for a builder to setup those descriptions everywhere they are needed? I see those as the big questions here. Since I'm still plodding along on my 25 Mhz 68040 Amiga, that sort of thing isn't in the cards for me yet. I plan on upgrading to something new one of these decades, however - when my MUD system is stable and I'm ready to translate and port it. [Yeah, sure - 10 years after its obsolete!] -- Chris Gray cg#ami-cg,GraySage.Edmonton.AB.CA </PRE> <!--X-Body-of-Message-End--> <!--X-MsgBody-End--> <!--X-Follow-Ups--> <HR> <!--X-Follow-Ups-End--> <!--X-References--> <!--X-References-End--> <!--X-BotPNI--> <UL> <LI>Prev by Date: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00031.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Next by Date: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00033.html">Linear Quadtrees</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Prev by thread: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00031.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Next by thread: <STRONG><A HREF="msg00035.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></STRONG> </LI> <LI>Index(es): <UL> <LI><A HREF="index.html#00032"><STRONG>Date</STRONG></A></LI> <LI><A HREF="thread.html#00032"><STRONG>Thread</STRONG></A></LI> </UL> </LI> </UL> <!--X-BotPNI-End--> <!--X-User-Footer--> <!--X-User-Footer-End--> <ul><li>Thread context: <BLOCKQUOTE><UL> <LI><STRONG>Re: Just a bit of musing</STRONG>, <EM>(continued)</EM> <ul compact> <LI><strong><A NAME="00027" HREF="msg00027.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></strong>, Carter T Shock <a href="mailto:ctso#umiacs,umd.edu">ctso#umiacs,umd.edu</a>, Sat 01 Mar 1997, 05:45 GMT </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00028" HREF="msg00028.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></strong>, S001GMU <a href="mailto:S001GMU#nova,wright.edu">S001GMU#nova,wright.edu</a>, Sat 01 Mar 1997, 07:09 GMT </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00029" HREF="msg00029.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></strong>, Dmitri Kondratiev <a href="mailto:dima#paragraph,com">dima#paragraph,com</a>, Sat 01 Mar 1997, 10:06 GMT </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00031" HREF="msg00031.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></strong>, Chris Gray <a href="mailto:cg#ami-cg,GraySage.Edmonton.AB.CA">cg#ami-cg,GraySage.Edmonton.AB.CA</a>, Sun 02 Mar 1997, 02:19 GMT </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00032" HREF="msg00032.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></strong>, Chris Gray <a href="mailto:cg#ami-cg,GraySage.Edmonton.AB.CA">cg#ami-cg,GraySage.Edmonton.AB.CA</a>, Sun 02 Mar 1997, 02:19 GMT </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00035" HREF="msg00035.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></strong>, GnomesHome <a href="mailto:GnomesHome#aol,com">GnomesHome#aol,com</a>, Mon 03 Mar 1997, 00:15 GMT </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00036" HREF="msg00036.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></strong>, coder <a href="mailto:coder#ibm,net">coder#ibm,net</a>, Mon 03 Mar 1997, 02:35 GMT </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00037" HREF="msg00037.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></strong>, coder <a href="mailto:coder#ibm,net">coder#ibm,net</a>, Mon 03 Mar 1997, 02:47 GMT </LI> <LI><strong><A NAME="00038" HREF="msg00038.html">Re: Just a bit of musing</A></strong>, coder <a href="mailto:coder#ibm,net">coder#ibm,net</a>, Mon 03 Mar 1997, 03:05 GMT </LI> </ul> </LI> </UL></BLOCKQUOTE> </ul> <hr> <center> [ <a href="../">Other Periods</a> | <a href="../../">Other mailing lists</a> | <a href="/search.php3">Search</a> ] </center> <hr> </body> </html>
