Thick shrubbery and growth around the path blocks any travelling towards the north and south. The only directions passable are towards the east and west. A stone bridge can be seen just slightly west of here. The sounds of nearby twigs breaking from their movements makes the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. You begin to look around and you can swear you can see movement out of the corner of your eye. But as you focus in that direction, you see nothing! It is overgrown with vegetation and only slight marks of travel reveals its existence. The path seems to be concealed to make it less conspicuous. Beautiful flowers grow on little mounds rising from the ground. It feels like you are one of the few that have chosen this path in the past few months. The only grass growing here is well to the side of it, mingling with little bluebells and an occasional dandelion. The branches seem to reach out and the trees extend higher and higher. You hear something stirring behind you, but as you turn about it is gone, just slipping from view from the corner of your eye. A ray of sunshine would be welcomed right now, though in all probability, it will never happen. But, when you turn your head to peer through the darkness there by the side of the path in the thick copse of trees, it is gone, as if it never happened. ~ 0 1 3 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8016 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8014 S #8016 The Forest Vale~ Sparce glimmers of light manage to reach through the forest canopy and speckle the ground about you just enough to reveal a fork in the path. To go north or continue to the east - both options seem equally viable, if not a little bit disquieting. Smoke can be seen emanating from around it. Scavenger birds circle the skies above, obviously waiting for small dead animals. Heat also can be felt further north. South of this path leads back into a forest. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 8018 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 8016 S #8018 Path to the Rock~ You look before you and you see a mountain of rock. You examine it closer and you notice an opening to the north. There are tracks of dried blood leading into the caves. Whatever inhabits this cave must like to eat --- a lot. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 8019 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 8017 S #8019 The Mequi's Cave~ As you step into the cave you are overcome by the stench of rotting corpses. You examine the room closer and you notice dried blood on the walls. Once again you have that eerie feeling that you are being watched. As your eyes adjust to the darkness you can see little blue flaming eyes penetrating right through you. The stench itself almost wants to make you vomit. You see pieces of clothing scattered about that look awfully familiar. You then realize where you have seen them. There is a very powerful stench coming from in there. You walk closer to get a better look. It's hard to make out what it says, but you are able to make out just enough to get the hint. It appears that a cart has come through here not long ago, for the ruts left by crude wooden wheels look fresh. The branches have been snapped off close to the pathway, as if a passing cart or possibly a wagon could have done. The path to the south looks like it has been used frequently. It shows signs of great workmanship from the way that it has handled all of the traffic it has seen. There is a &Csign&Y &cbefore you. The path looks well tended to with barely any grass growing on it. It seems that the people of the Vale Village really care about the appearance of their village to outside visitors. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 8031 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 8033 S #8033 The Path to the Village~ As you look into the sky, you can see small streams of grey smoke rising into the heavens. The clatter of the village can be heard in the near distance. You can hear the odd voice as the villagers walk near the walls that surround this village. As you examine the walls, you notice the craftmanship that has gone into the work and design. The wall looks like it can withhold a lot of pressure from any outside source. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 8032 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 5037 S #8036 The Forest Vale~ As you walk to the east, the forest is starting to thin out completely. The feelings of being watched slowly fade as the trees do. The sounds of creatures scurrying about has all but vanished. The path now takes a sharp turn to the north. As you look in the north, you can see the horizon of the Storm in the distance. But before that you can see a great cliff rising above you. What a vantage point this would be. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 8038 S #8038 Vantage Point~ As you climb further north, you can see more of this vast planet. You marvell to yourself the amount of area that must be traveled to explore this whole world. The air around you seems to be getting thinner. You are finding yourself getting light headed and tired with all of the exertion it is taking to climb to the top. Being careful not to fall off. It is a far way to the bottom. As you examine the horizon, you realize the shear greatness of the Storm. You strain your eyes as you look down and you can swear that you can see other adventurers like yourself locked in battle or just exploring the land. There is movement in all parts of town. You can also see the entire Vale Forest below you. You notice that there is a path in front of you that it hidden from plain view due to a bush. You push the bush aside and see that is extends down the entire side of this enormous cliff. ~ 0 4 5 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8041 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 8066 S #8051 The Forest Vale~ As you journey northward, a scent - familiar, yet obscure - catches your attention. It is making you hungry, however, and your stomach growls at the tempting aroma. The wonderful aroma seems to be wafting stronger here, as if it could be very close to you now. The aroma is very strong now and you could be very close to the nature of its origin! There are signs of others having travelled here and not too long ago. The scent seems to attract many to this area. To the east is a large tent with trees for tent poles and grass growing thick around the edges. Sweet smoke is wafting from the flap in the front where, just inside, you catch the glimpse of a valewoman busily going about the task of baking. To the north the encampment continues, the community busy at work while the children run about in play. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 8058 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8057 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 8055 S #8057 The Bakers Hut~ The smell of sweet vale bread saturates your senses, the valewoman smiles and waves as she beckons you to enter and partake in her tasty wares! A small smudge of flour accents the tip of her nose as she kneads the dough and sets it aside to rise. Unable to resist the temptation, the change in your pocket seems to almost beg for you to spend it on the golden brown pastry being offerd to you now... ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8056 S #8058 The Vale Camp~ Standing smack in the middle of the Vale encampment, the sound of idle conversation fills the air. Just to the west you notice a rather large tent, and through the door flap you catch the glimpse of various equipment and supplies scattered about the edge there. A Valeman of a rather robust stature is standing there, assessing his wares. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 8060 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 8056 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8059 S #8059 The Vale Store~ Huge and rectangular in shape, this humble store seems to be the hub of activity among the vale people. This small isolated community has found an icon in the store owner and find enjoyment in gathering here to chat and gossip quietly while they inspect the goods and trade for the peddler's wares. The items here seem to be of qualtiy workmanship and appear to be quite a bargain, at that. ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8058 S #8060 The Vale Camp~ Here it is quieter, with the excepsion of an occational murmer that chances to stray in your direction. Here, behind the tents, there is a little more privacy. The path continues with a sharp turn to the east... ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8061 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 8058 S #8061 The Vale Camp~ Rounding the corner you chance upon more tents set up in a semi-circular fashion. This may very well be the sleeping quarters of these very odd people. They don't seem to be of any particular type of people that you have ever encountered before, as they don't seem quite civilized, yet show no hostilities either. Their calm demeanor smacks of secrecy, as if they were wary... Or maybe... Hiding. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 8062 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8060 S #8062 The Vale Camp~ Before you blazes a bright and cheery campfire. There are the remains of a past meal scattered here and about close to the flames. A few platters have food remaining on them. Tents surround you and the fire pit on all sides. This must be the sleeping area, for you can hear the snoring of the stuffed and sleepy valeperson as they nap after their meal. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D0 To the north, there stands a tent much larger than the rest. ~ "tent door"~ 3 0 8064 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8063 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 8061 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8065 S #8063 Sleeping Tent~ Crude yet comfy cots fashioned from wood and animal hides lend to a cozy and rustic atmosphere here in this little sleeping tent. The walls made of the natural tanned hide of large animals shields you from the elements, keeping you warm and safe. There are primative drawings on the walls, lending a surreal atmosphere to this humble dwelling. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 E drawings~ The drawings are mostly of stick people. It shows a woman and a man standing over a roaring fire. Another shows some children playing with some stones. ~ D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8062 S #8064 Sleeping Tent~ You enter into the grandest tent of them all! Tall and spacious with lavishly made cots and sleeping places all about, you notice that one among them is larger and more grandoise than all the rest. Treasures are heaped and piled in the corners, and a huge platter food rests temptingly near. This may be the leader's abode. His manner of living seems to be more extravagant than the rest of his meager subjects. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D2 The tent door is in the south wall of the tent. ~ "tent door"~ 3 0 8062 S #8065 Sleeping Tent~ This sleeping tent is charming and cozy, with primitive yet sturdy cots for resting and walls of soft tanned hide for protection from the outside elements. Furs and throws are scattered about. The drawings upon the sides of the tent seem to dance in the light of the campfire that glows from the outside. A soft rabbit skin pillow looks perfect for napping... ~ 0 8 0 Rd 0 E drawings~ The drawings upon the canvas of the tent show stick people dancing, eating and sitting about a warm fire. ~ D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8062 S #8066 Cliff Edge~ As you carefully place your feet on secure footing you begin to notice the actual size of this cliff. There is barely enough room for you to place your feet. The only thing for you to do now is to continue on to the east. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8067 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 8045 S #8067 Cliff Edge~ You notice a large nest before you with eggs that are newly hatched. You wonder to yourself what kind of animal could live at such a location. You also notice the carcass of other animals that have been considered lunch for this animal. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8066 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 8069 S #8069 Cliff Edge~ As you examine the area that you are using to climb down the cliif, you realize the shear danger of this descent. The rocks in the wall are no longer secure due to the amount of traffic this path has endured over the years. You must be extremely careful of your footing to survive such a climb. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 8067 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 8070 S #8070 Cliff Edge~ As you continue your climb down the mountain, you begin to lose your footing under your right foot. Luckily you had enough strength to hold on. You look to the right and notice the rock that you had dislodged falling at a high rate of speed. It is not until you count to fifteen (if you can) that you hear the rock hit the ground below. At this point you tighten your hand grip to the rocks of the mountain. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 8069 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 8072 S #8071 Cliff Edge~ You examine the walls of the mountain and see many gashes taken out of the stone by powerful blows from past adventurers like yourself. You also see the remains of many of the same adventurers lying on the ground before you. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8072 S #8072 Cliff Edge~ You find yourself on another ledge. You examine this ledge and notice that it has been used very frequently. Both by man and animal. There are marks covered all over the sides of the ledge. It looks like there has been a number of battles here over the years. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8073 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8071 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 8070 S #8073 Cliff Edge~ As you gaze over the edge of the cliff, you notice that you are getting closer to the ground below. With this in mind, you nerves let up a bit. Before you is a path that continues down to the ground below. Once again, it does not look like the safest path you have seen. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8072 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 8074 S #8074 Cliff Edge~ The path that continues on down is still not as secure as most would like it to be. You must be very careful about where you place yourself because the wrong move can be disasterous. The rocks around you fall with the slightest touch. You must find one that is secure enough to withstand your weight. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 8073 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 8075 S #8075 Cliff Edge~ The climb down the mountain is becoming much safer now. The rocks here seem to be holding together much more concrete now. It is much easier to find suitable foot holds now and this causes you to become more at ease. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 8074 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 8077 S #8077 Cliff Edge~ You find yourself on the final cliff of this mountain. You realize that this has been a very difficult climb. Once again there are signs that there have been many battles taken place here. There are blood stains coating the rocks. It almost looks like someone or something had bled to death here and stained the area for eternity. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8078 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 8075 S #8078 Cliff Edge~ The signs of the battle that took place continue to mark this area. There are fragments of fractured bones scattered about haphazardly. Once again there are blood stains splashed against almost every rock in sight. This must have been a very entertaining fight to see. As you look over the edge of the cliff you realize that you have almost reached the base of the mountain. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8077 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 8079 S #8079 Cliff Edge~ The climb here seems very simple. The rock is holding very well. With this in mind you are able to climb very readily. Looking down you realize that you have almost reached the base of the mountain. ~ 0 0 5 Rd 0 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 8078 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 8080 S #8080 The Forest Vale~ You find yourself back in the forest vale. The sounds of animals searching for prey returns to the still air. The eeriness of the forest almost makes you want to climb back up this great mountain and face the dangers there. ~ 0 4 3 Rd 0 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8081 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 8079 S #8081 The Forest Vale~ The path continues along the side of the great mountain that you have just climbed down. The physical and mental exertion from the climb is starting to take it's toll on you. You feel that you are being watched by something in the near distance. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8080 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8082 S #8082 The Forest Vale~ The path now takes a sharp turn to the south along the edge of the mountain. Once again you feel that there is something lurking in the darkness of the forest ahead of you. But being a great adventurer like yourself, you continue on. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8081 S #8083 The Forest Vale~ This dead-end in the forest is ominous. The trees around you bear various deep claw marks. Barkskin ripped out in large chunks litter the ground. The only exit is back south. All other directions are impassable. A rather unpleasant place to be caught and cornered in. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 8084 S #8084 The Forest Vale~ The forest that surrounds you is like none that you have seen before. In a way it looks altered from it's original state. The trees do not grow straight but are twisted and angulated in strange patterns. The grass has slowly turned a putrid yellow with no hopes of return to its original beauty. It is most likely caused from the volatile creature that inhabits this area. ~ 0 0 3 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 8083 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 8028 S #8085 The Mequi's Cave~ As you begin to enter the back of the cave, you are overcome by a slight warm breeze that makes it difficult to breathe. It feels very humid here. ~ 0 5 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8086 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 8023 S #8086 The Mequi's Cave~ You notice that the temperature is starting to rise as you come closer to the east wall. A strange wooden pannelling can be found here. You can see many gouges and scratch marks upon it. Perhaps the gouges are big enough for you to take a peek. ~ 0 5 0 Rd 0 E marks~ Through the scratch marks on the eastern pannelling you can see another room. ~ E gouges~ You can see another room through the gouges in the wall panel. It is quite dimly lit in there, so no details can be seen. ~ D1 A panel is here blocking your passage to another part of the cave. ~ panel~ 3 0 8087 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8085 S #8087 The Mequi Guard Post~ The room is filled with old weapons and armor... most of which are of no use any longer. This brings you to the conclusion that this is a guard post of some sort. There must be something important lurking about. ~ 0 1 0 Rd 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 8088 D3 There is a wooden panel here in the west wall. ~ panel~ 3 0 8086 S #8088 The Mequi's Cave~ The temperature in this dank cave rises dramatically here. It is almost unbearable combined with the humidity and stench of this wretched place. A dim light is provided by a strange moss covering the walls. It emits an eerie feeling all around. Steps are crudely carved leading upwards into darkness. ~ 0 5 0 Rd 0 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 8087 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 8089 S #8089 The Mequi's Cave~ As you venture to the east you notice that the temperature is not as bad as you thought before. You realize that it must have been a safe guard against unwanted intruders. This part of the cavern is larger than the rest. The walls are smoother and cleaner. The temperature here drops to a comfortable level. A low gutteral sound and scratching can be heard, then the clinking of chains ring from the east. ~ 0 1 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8090 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 8088 S #8090 The Mequi's Cave~ Upon examing the walls you notice a great deal of scratch marks. There are even pieces of finger nails embedded in the wall with it's skin still dangling from it. It appears that whatever is brought up here, does not enjoy the experience a great deal. ~ 0 1 0 Rd 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 8091 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8089 S #8091 The Mequi's Cave~ There is blood leaking from above you like a small waterfall. The stench of aging blood and unwanted corpses fills the still air. You notice that the blood is originating from a small opening above you. ~ 0 5 0 Rd 0 E opening~ The opening almost pours down with blood. ~ D3 ~ ~ 0 0 8090 D4 ~ ~ 0 0 8092 S #8092 King Mequi's Quarters~ By the looks of this room there have been many battles here, as the walls are so covered blood that they are stained to a black in color. A few corpses of unidentifiable humanoids lie about the place, one of them still fresh and a small trail of blood flows still from its now lifeless body. The floor is a puddle of blood. ~ 0 0 0 Rd 0 E corpse corpses~ The corpses look like they have been carved like a turkey.
