Using the HUB building tools for data files:

check-linux (or check.exe for MS-DOS) can be given to persons working
on areas for your game. These programs should be used to test human made
object files (instructions for creating these are in docs/data/basics.txt)
for errors.

hubread is for the administrator. It should perform the same tests that
the checker does, but when no errors are found it *builds* "raw" HUB
data files suitable for adding to a single DB file.

addarea is a script for adding a file created with hubread to another
file (a single DB for instance.)
