This is the immortal handbook. In this you can read the strict and incredibly well-enforced rules as briefly outlined in the 25-page "Immortal Contract," by which you must abide upon being promoted to Legendary status (ref. Section 5, Article 273, Line 49). Immortal Contract version 2.5.3.2.8b >>>>>[If anyone actually wants to read this damned thing, you might be able to find a copy in the trash directories in one of the low-end P.D.I.F.'s (Public Data and Informational Facilities). Otherwise, here's the much shortened and thoroughly less complicated version.]<<<<< --Rift (20:12:34/07-02-98) (1) Don't give direct aid to any mortal (especially your own). The following are examples of "direct aid:" giving items to mortals (except in cases of reimbersement, where the mortal in question lost item(s) in a crash or inexplicable MUD screw-up, and quest awards), no restoring them, no helping them in a fight, no opening doors for them, no scouting the path, no transfer/teleporting them, no giving them the statistics of a mob/obj/room/shop, etc. This does not mean that you can't help them in any way; by all means, feel free to answer a newbie asking "where can I get some food?" or when a grizzled vet asks you when the mutiny against the co-dictatorship will take place. (2) Don't abuse your powers. You can play around a bit, but only up to a certain extent. (3) Don't overpunish anyone. Stealing from another player's corpse, for example, would not be followed by the thief having his hand cut off or being deleted. (4) Contribute. Whether it be by building zones, bug/discrepancy hunting, or contributing ideas, this is the undoubtably the most important thing that any immortal can do, and we try to reward accordingly. Thanks, Pook and Rift
