Stairway Cut into the Mountainside~
The rough-hewn, dusky stone of the walls hides ample dust and gravel in
its countless nooks and crannies. Hewn from the same bedrock as the
walls, a wide set of stairs that comprises the entirety of the floor
leads upwards or exits northwards onto a level landing. A gentle, chill
breeze from above seems to indicate some kind of exit. The darkness to
the north hides any clue what may lie ahead that way.

Cave Deep Inside a Mountain~
Unevenly aligned walls form the natural boundries of this cave though its
floor is oddly level indicating that someone may have worked to make the
cave more livable. Overhead the walls meet to form a natural, if uneven,
archway that rises and lowers acording to the whims of whatever force
shaped this tunnel. Although there are several cracks and small
side-chambers that lead off, none are large enough to suite the size of
even the smallest of persons so you are forced to stay here or continue
on along the tunnel's natural course.

Cave Deep Inside a Mountain~
The naturally formed tunnel curves under the dictates of whatever
mysterious force long ago shaped it leaving travelers a hard road to
navigate. As the tunnel bends to wind its way around a sharp outcropping
of darker stone, it narrows tightly in places with sharp projections that
make traversing the path uncomfortable at best. At the odd angles you
are forced to move along the path its hard to tell whether going forward
or backward will be the easier path as both seem to narrow away to
nothing periodically but only seem to open out each time you get to the
point of obstruction.

Cave Deep Inside a Mountain~
The rough stone walls depict several layers of stratified stone that must
have lain unseen for milennia before this tunnel ever opened to the outer
world. Now, following eons of slow errosion the bands of color are
begining to wear away forming slight shelves where sturdier rock has
eroded slower than the softer stone. Fortunately the slow errosion,
though it has millenia to go before making any real progress yet, has
already widened the tunnel enough to keep it passable. The tunnel seems
to widen as it moves north, yet it tightens into narrow confines as it
twists eastward.

Cave Deep Inside a Mountain~
The rough walls of a natural tunnel run up flush against a precisely
smooth, carefully cut stonework wall that completely seals the northern
end of the cave. While rock of various colors, compressed over time,
leads away southward it appears someone has gone to great lengths to
cultivate and enhance the structure of the stone to the north. Set dead
center in the northern wall is a door forged of a single, thick sheet of
iron that allows a way through the seamless stonework.

door~
The little door, measuring under five feet tall, is made of a solid pieve
of forged iron and looks to be quite sturdy. Its outer facing is covered
in a lacework of elegant diamond patterning. There is no keyhole on the
door, though it seems one of the circular patterns is in reality a
cleverly disguised handle that can be used to pull the door open.
~
E
wall~
The wall is formed of large, cut stones the are a testament to some stone
mason's exquisite skill at his or her craft. Each stone fits together
precisely and perfectly leaving no gap, not even one wide enough to fit a
razor blade into. The only break in the incredibly smooth surface seems
to be a small door set dead center in the wall.

The stones of the wall are so precisely cut that you can not find a seam

solid and quite formidable, though a short iron door set in its center
stands slightly ajar allowing passage through to the other side.

A Large Hall Cut into the Stone~
Soaring up several feet on both sides of you are smooth, stone walls cut
straight from the mountains. Hanging from each wall are heavy cloth
tapestries depicting a legion of white-robed dwarves walking about a
large temple. The floor has been cut from grey marble which streaks of
black running through it. Set in the center of the chamber is a large
stone fountain adorned with carefully-detailed carvings of dwarven
rituals. Set into the southern wall is a large iron door covered in
decades of dust and grime. To the north, east, and west tunnels cut
their way deeper into the heart of the underground complex.

devote each small wing room to a subject? geography, etc?
If so, will limit our subjects somewhat, or we'll need broad-range categories
can label each door in dwarven if by category. Will also need to know
what categories are so we can create a balance of books for them. At
least 2-3 for each subject. of course nothing says something can't be
misfiled as well.
- - - - -
silly me, thinking in 2 dimensions again. If we need more specialty
rooms we can always dig up or down and have stairs off the seperate wings.
- - - - -
Will toss some browse functions in like other libraries. Easy sill stuff
to use, maybe one or two useful hints on the temple? maybe 5 or so for
each wing with another 3-4 for each specialty room.
waiting on confirmation on specialty room subjects and wings before
progressing farther.

Hall Cut into the Mountain Stone~
The walls along this stretch of the hall have been carefully cut through
the stone of the mountain and than smoothed down to remove any rough
edges. Lining the north and south walls are several stone pedestals upon
which rest realistic-looking carvings of different types of monsters.
Hanging just above the scupltures are several thick cloth tapestries
depicting a large dwarf wielding a double-bladed battle axe leading an
army of his followers into battle. To the east and west open archways
lead into a brightly-lit chambers.

Hall Cut into the Mountain Stone~
Care was taken during construction of this complex; the walls are void of
any blemishes or rough edges and no cracks are visible. Tapestries made
from a heavy cloth hang from the walls; each depicting dwarven wizards
hurling spells down a mountainside at an oncoming horde of orcs. Set
against the southern wall is a large statue carved in the likeness of a
muscular dwarf bedecked in battle armor and wielding an extremely large
double-bladed axe. To the east and west the hall continues through the
many chambers of the complex.

East Wing - Brightly-Lit Chamber~
Several large stone bookcase fill this circular stone chamber; each
filled to the brim with old scrolls, stone tablets and leather-bound
books. Placed in the center of the room is a rough stone table with two
long benches on either side. Cluttered atop the table are several tallow
candles which burn with dull yellow flames and a few tied-up scrolls as
well as some stone tablets. Small steps to the north, east, and south
lead up towards small alcoves filled with even more bookcases. To the
west a hall proceeds out of the chamber towards other parts of the
complex.
