tower.  The tower has been completely destroyed, as is evidenced by the
pieces of mangled wood all around.  Giant claw prints are fossilized in the
ground, and they are large enough for you to fit inside easily.  The
sulfuric odor following you through the forest appears to have dissipated,
and the greenish mist is nowhere in sight.  Your limbs have regained their
strength.

Clearing~

mist.  Looking south, you see huge steps over 10 feet high and 15 feet wide
that lead up a steep hill.  The steps lead to an immense building made of
glossy onyx.  From this distance, it appears that the craftsmanship of the
structure rivals that of even the most talented dwarves.

Tomb Entrance~
A set of 114 foot tall double doors stand open at the top of the immense
stairs leading down from the tomb.  They are made of onyx and hold a gilded
placque.  The inner walls of the tomb are flawless and fit perfectly
together without any visible seams.  The enormous structure is a mason's
dream.

Courtyard of the Dragon~
You are standing in a massive courtyard enclosed by onyx walls and open
at the top, offering a perfect view of the Alanthian sky.  Statues of
dragons and demons standing about 92 feet tall and made of onyx fill the
room completely.  The statues are all positioned within an expansive rock
garden that borders the short path spiraling through the courtyard.

Inside the Tomb~
This short hallway has a ceiling about 136 feet high, dwarfing you. 
There is blood splatter on the walls and pieces of rotten flesh covering the
floor.  A door is embedded within the western onyx wall, a strange odor
seeping from underneath.  The tomb is blissfully quiet.  A set of darkened
stairs lead down from the southern end of the room.

Statue Room~
The creator of this tomb had a penchant for artwork as is evidenced by
the various statues positioned within this room.  All of the structures
stand about 120 feet tall.  One statue in particular catches your eye.  It
is positioned in the center of the room and depicts a glorious red dragon
with its wings outstretched.  The centerpiece was carved from flawless ruby.

Dark Passage~
The inky darkness within this passageway attempts to swallow all light. 
The cold damp floor reeks of rotting flesh.  Looking down, bits and pieces
of body parts fill your vision.  Thick streams of blood ooze around you in a
constant state of coagulation.  Shadows dance along the walls as if filled
with their own life.  There appears to be a faint glimmer of light to the
north.

Temple of the Dragon~
Two 180 foot high thrones greet your vision upon entering the room. 
Though finely crafted, the thrones are layered with dust and unpolished. 
Several pieces of artwork line the northern and southern walls,
aesthetically placed.  A portrait on the western wall depicts an onyx and
ruby dragon with their upstretched talons entwined in a symbol of unity. 
The painting on the eastern wall shows the same two dragons with wings
outstretched, standing before a mass of humanoids who are bowed in
reverance.  The floor of the temple is speckled with dried blood.

Hall of Fangs~
The ceiling of the hall rises about 115 feet into the air, while the
width extends about 90 feet.  Extending from the northern and southern walls
are masses of 15 foot long, razor-sharp dragon fangs.  The fangs appear to
be moving, though perhaps it is a trick of the eyes.  As you continue to
examine the hall, you notice the rows of fangs are most definitely nearer.

Inner Sanctum~
A tremendous heat blasts against you, emitting from a 40 foot wide river
of molten lava that flows east to west through the room.  Smoldering bodies
have mercifully been washed ashore while the less fortunate are flaming
within the current of the river.  The onyx walls seem to shimmer and sweat
under the intense heat, and the floor is beginning to bubble.

Organ Room~
You find yourself within a massive room with walls that appear to have
been crafted from rotten flesh.  The floor has a slimy coating lathered over
it, making it difficult to maintain your footing.  The scent of death and
decay is reminiscent of a battlefield immediately after conflict.  Bones are
protruding from parts of the walls and floor as if forcefully implanted
there.  A mass of maggots are feeding upon chunks of flesh scattered about.

Sharp metal prods and pincers are propped up against the walls with
blazing braziers nearby.  One ominous-looking prod with a barbed tip is
resting within one of the braziers and glows with white heat.  A number of
contraptions fill the room, all of which are used for the mere pleasure of
the perpetrator.  Half-dead bodies are trapped within each torture device
except the Iron Maiden in the center of the room.  The tools of torture seem
small in comparison to the hall, but they are large enough to comfortably
fit even the largest troll.

Eye Room~
The room is brightly lit with 20 foot torches that blaze furiously.  In
the center of the room is a glowing eye easily the size of a large human. 
The outer part of the eye is yellow and bloodshot, and the pupil is a long
black slit.  The eye peers at you, following your movement.  A musty stench
fills the air.

Lava River~
Gurgling and boiling lava fill the room, with widely spread stepping
stones that somehow withstand the heat.  The smell of burning flesh and hair
surrounds you, and frantic screams reverberate through the air.  The
temperature is well above boiling, and the simply act of breathing is
singing your nasal passages.  The room glows a dull red as you watch the
lava flow veer south.

Hall of Judgment~
The hall is unlike most of the tomb for there are slight imperfections in
the onyx walls and several cracks in the rock.  The familiar scent of
rotting flesh follows you through the hall.  A finely crafted onyx door is
centered within the south wall.  Smoothly carved runes cover the surface of
the door, many of them difficult to translate.

Lava Pool~
The sloped edges of the room have caused a massive pool of lava to form. 
Searing heat rises from the pool, and the lava casts an eerie red glow to
your body and armor.  The scent of burning flesh seems permanently embedded
within your nostrils.  To the south is a thick fog that seems to rest in
place, caught between the heat of this room and the icy drafts from the
south.

Chamber of Ice~
An icy blast freezes the perspiration covering your body.  Bluish ice
layers the walls and floors in beautiful formations.  You see humanoid forms
trapped within the ice, their faces frozen in mid-scream.  The air is fresh
and clean, though frigid against you.  There is a small grate on the floor
that is clear of ice.  Warm drafts of air flow up from the grate, creating a
light mist along the ground.  The northern exit is foggy as heat and ice
clash.

Chamber of Gas~
A noxious dark green mist spreads around the room so thickly you could
slice it with a dagger.  The walls and floor are not visible through the
gaseous cloud.  You notice your skin beginning to boil as the mist attempts
to cling to you.  Breathing is nearly impossible and your vital functions
are beginning to falter.

Hall of the Dead~
The hall is expansive, and the onyx walls are covered with a painted
mural depicting a forest shrouded in greyish twilight.  Enormous crypts rest
peacefully throughout the hall, each blanketed with runic carvings and
dragon engravings.  This hall serves as a final resting place for the
ancient dragons of the land.  Piles of bones lie scattered about the ground,
though none of them appear to belong to wyrms.  A crypt against the
northeast wall stands out above the rest.

Hall of Vision~
Eyeballs are embedded within the onyx walls from ceiling to floor, each
of them turning to gaze at you upon your entrance.  They watch your every
movement regardless of where you stand.  The irises of the eyes are shades
of all different colors and the sizes range from tiny to gigantic.  In the
center of the northern wall is an etched onyx eye that shows your
reflection.

Realm of the Spirit Dragon~
You emerge onto a mass of hazy smoke colored clouds that somehow support
your weight.  You can see and hear spirits of dragons swirling around you,
brushing against you with a chilling tremor.  The translucent beings snort
at you, beating their ethereal wings slowly.  A sense of misery and anger
invades your mind, tearing at your will.

Crypt of Darzantha~
You find yourself within a beautiful crypt with live grasses nurturing
fragrant flowers.  The crypt does not appear to be in use, but it is
well-kept and somehow teeming with life.  Along the northern wall is a
full-size painting of the beautiful ruby dragon known as Darzantha.  Her
reign has not ended, though her final resting place is reserved.  This inner
sanctum reflects all of the beauty of life, everything that the dragon
goddess treasures.

Everlasting Life~
A thick green mist undulates at your feet, clouding the many sharp spikes
protruding from the floor.  The mist begins to snake its way along your body
in a slow dance.  With each breath you take, your throat constricts as if
under a mild grip that is slowly strengthing itself.  A beautiful gold door
is to the west, and to the east you see an untarnished silver door that is
easily 100 feet high.

Oblivion~
You have entered a dimension non-existant in space or time.  Inky
darkness envelops your body.  Your body and soul unravel like shorn thread. 
An intense pressure presses against you, threatening your physical
integrity.  Your brain is caught in a vise-grip, depressing all normal
thought patterns.  The pressure intensifies until your body begins to
implode.  Oblivion has consumed you!

Cathedral of Z'tari~
You find yourself within a towering cathedral with not a breath of air
stirring.  Rows of onyx pews border a center aisle burdened by a thickly
corded crimson runner.  At the furthest end of the room you can dimly see an
immense altar.  As you approach with echoing steps, a portrait of an onyx
dragon comes into view, mounted upon the wall directly behind the altar. 
Engraved along the bottom of the framed portrait is the word "Z'tari".

Bloodstained Cavern~
Limestone formations dripping with a greenish-white liquid fill this vast
cavern.  Bloodsplatter covers most of the cavern in a macabre decoration. 
The corpses of dead adventurers are piled up in a corner, decomposing at an
unusually slow rate.  The bodies seem to have been shredded and ripped
apart.  The chilled air has an overwhelming stench of death.  An open cave
lies to the south.

Cavern Ledge~
The cavern has narrowed into a precarious ledge.  Peering down, you see a
sheer drop-off that appears to descend several hundred feet.  There is a
greenish-white glow at the bottom that seems to pulse slightly.  Stalagmites
and stalagtites thrust from the ceiling, walls, and ledge, all stretching
nearly 140 feet in length.

Rockslide~
A rockslide fills this portion of the cavern, a result of an intense
alanthiaquake.  Rubble is strewn everywhere and consists of broken
stalamites, shattered limestone, and crumbled boulders.  Amidst the debris,
you see a human hand reaching from beneath boulders.  The hand is frozen in
the final stages of rigor mortis.  A small trail has been cleared through a
portion of the rockslide.  It leads south and is adorned with what appear to
be fresh footprints left by humanoids.  You notice that all of the
footprints trace a path south, and none have returned.

Within the Cave~
You find yourself surrounded by 200 foot high walls carved from giant
rocks and stones.  Powerful air currents beat harshly against you, making it
seem as if you are being pushed back by an invisible foe.  Pebbly dirt
swirls throughout the cave, carried by unseen hands that seem set on ridding
themselves of your presence.  Barely keeping your foothold, you see the cave
continues south, while sanctuary lies to the north.

Cavern Ledge~
The surrounding cavern is black as pitch, the only light source coming
from a glowing object several hundred feet below you.  Rustlings and scrapes
reach your ears as the narrow ledge every so slowly deteriorates under your
weight.  Gazing about, you see natural footholds and handholds leading down
the side of the rock.  They appear sturdy enough to support you.  A greenish
mist is snaking its way up from below, its apparent target is you!

Rockslide~
The trail of footprints that lead south are muddled together here, as if
a scuffle broke out.  The rockslide surrounds the narrow path, making
movement difficult.  Boulders and broken stones perch unsteadily around you,
waiting to crush your skeleton with one fell swoop.  You hear rustlings and
what sounds like low whispers to the south.  Perhaps the owners of the
footprints are nearby.

Deep Within the Cave~
A solid darkness surrounds you as there are no light sources other than
that which you brought with you.  The detail of the cave is barely visible,
though your echoing footsteps tell you the area is immense.  The galestorm
seems impossibly strong, forcing you to use all muscle strength to remain
upright.  Squinting against the wind, you suddenly notice what appears to be
a flicker of light to the south.  Your breath forms small frosty clouds as
it flows from your mouth and nose.

Descent~
As you carefully travel along the sloping ledge, you notice blood
splatter covering the rocks.  The remains of what appears to be a fallen
adventurer are scattered about, pieces of her corpse littering the ledge. 
Gazing down, you see the torso of the corpse impaled upon a stalagmite that
is coated with oozing blood.  A greenish mist clings tightly to you,
chilling you with an icy embrace.

Rockslide~
The trail that has been blazed through the expansive rockslide is
somewhat wide here, allowing easier travel.  The masses of stone bordering
the trail seem to glow with an ultraviolet radiance, and your eyes catch
quick movements in the shadows of the rock.  To the south, the path curves
around an enormous boulder that reflects a faint orange glow.  To the north,
the trail narrowly traverses the rockslide.

Encampment~
You have reached an encampment built after intensive clearing of rocky
debris.  Four canvas tents surround a small campfire which still burns
warmly.  Eating utensils and scraps of food lie discarded around the
campsite, most of it teeming with small beetles and millipedes.  Sentry
trenches have been dug around the border of the comparatively well-kept
camp.  To the south you glimpse some sort of metallic object.

Mercury Pool~
You see a large pool of mercury about 180 feet in diameter.  The thick
mercury shivers as large, silvery bubbles grow slowly from its surface
before breaking back into the pool.  A comfortable heat flows from the
liquid, a striking contrast from the chilled cavern.  The walls and floor
surrounding the mercury are formed from polished onyx.  The distinct smell
of sulfur fills the air, and as you peer at the pool, you can distinguish
part of a skeleton suspended within the mercury.

Bottom of the Ledge~
Chipped and eroding stalagmites fill the cavernous space.  It is
difficult not to notice the streams of dried blood that cover the majority
of the stalagmites, one of which is supporting an impaled corpse.  The air
is thick with the stench of decay, though it seems your body has become
somewhat accustomed to it.  The shadows along the walls are flickering, and
a thick green mist blankets the cavern floor.  You see a small opening in
the wall to the south.

Small Cave~
You are inside a small, cramped cave that is quite warm in comparison
with the outer cavern.  The walls and floor have been carved from smooth,
polished onyx that is somewhat slick to walk upon.  Loud, high-pitched
squeaking floats down from the ceiling, accompanied by the rapid flapping of
wings.  A stringent ammonia odor stings your nostrils.  Piles of bones rest
in the corners of the cave, and a full skeleton lies prone in the center of
the room.

The Vortex~
You have stumbled into a tempestuous vortex whose winds toss you about
like a ragdoll.  Your muscles are no longer able to withstand the forceful
gales, and you are spinning so fast you can barely view the details of the
room.  Amidst the vertigo, you seem to catch glimpses of a large statue
swirling in and out of view.  As your body is thrown around the room, you
realize there are no visible exits entering your swirling vision.

Hall of the Fallen~
You find yourself at the end of a hallway that extends east.  The hall is
carved from onyx and formed with the same extraordinary craftsmanship that
was apparent at the surface of the tomb.  There are repetitive symbols
carved along the over 200 foot high walls.  A mass of corpses litter the
floor of the hallway, a mixture of human and elvish.  A larger corpse lies
in the center of the others and is the form of a small onyx dragon, though
its size is gigantic in comparison to the humans and elves.  Battered
weapons and armor deteriorate around the bodies.

Hall of the Fallen~
This portion of the enormous hallway contains flaws in the walls and
small cracks in the floor, a sight rarely seen within the massive tomb. 
Chips of onyx have been broken from the ceiling.  It appears that a rather
large creature was the cause of the hall's damage.  The corpse of a knight
is mangled along the northern edge of the room, most of his armor torn
apart.

Hall of the Fallen~
The hall is strewn with bones, skulls, and scraps of flesh and armor. 
Deep gouges that give off a sulfuric scent have been scratched into the onyx
walls.  A very deep growl echoes through the room, seeming to originate from
the east.  You begin to notice that the further east you travel, the icier
the air feels.  Adrenaline begins to pump madly through your blood.

Hall Bend~
The expansive hall turns southward and extends back to the west.  As you
move onward, you hear the low growling turn into deep echoing laughter.  A
massive voice says, "Darzantha sent you?  She must be getting desperate in
her old age"!  The scratches in the wall are long and deep.  Judging from
the size of the claw marks, the creature that left them must be over 200
feet tall.  The onyx floor is severely marred and is laden with piles of
skeletal remains.

Hall Junction~
This junction is free of any mangled bodies and skeletons, but there is
fresh blood that trails to the south.  A flicker of light catches your
attention to the west, and to the south is a narrow, partially caved-in
passageway.  This portion of the hall is in poor condition with chunks of
onyx shattered around you.  An icy draft flows in from the west, frosting
your armor.  Something seems odd about the cold that brushes against you, as
if it were mystical in origin.

Passage Cave-in~
The walls have collapsed haphazardly, and small rocks and dirt continue
to slide down the massive chunks of stone and onyx.  There is a body of a
mage lying on the ground, his fingers and hair scorched as if from a
misfired spell.  He is dressed in long, thick robes and has fallen next to a
shattered staff.  Unfinished letters have been scrawled in the mage's own
blood.

Hall of Pain~
A purple mist, flowing in from the west, swirls around you.  Each time
the mist establishes direct contact with you, mild electric shocks cause
jolts throughout your body.  The hall is partially destroyed, though the
source of the destruction is not readily apparent.  You see a small opening
to the west that you could fit through without much struggle.  A layer of
frost coats the walls and floor, chilling the air.  A great low voice
cackles at you.

Hall of Pain~
An enormous passage surrounds you, easily stretching over 300 feet high. 
The walls are of the same smooth and polished onyx that has traced your way
through the tomb.  A thick purple mist clings to you, sending electric
shocks through your muscles.  The southern passage is filled with a soft
glow.  The air has turned so cold that the air vapor is crystalizing.  A
mangled corpse is on the floor.

Mouth of the Cave~
You stand before the gaping mouth of a cave that is surrounded by icy
formations twisted into hideous forms.  Chilly drafts bluster from within
the opening as a vicious roar beats against your eardrums.  Purple mist
shrouds the cave entrance, stretching quickly toward you with electrical
fingers.  A plaque burdened with icicles is mounted to the right of the cave
entrance.

Tomb of Z'tari~
An elaborate cave fills your vision.  The ceiling rises about 400 feet
high, and the walls extend several hundred feet in diameter.  50 foot high
torches line the gleaming onyx walls, all of them blazing furiously with
intense flames.  A beautiful mirror standing about 100 feet high and 30 feet
wide rests against the western wall.  The glass of the mirror wavers with a
glowing purple light.  Plush bundles of satin fill the western end of the
cave, permanently indented from constant useage.
