in pain and anger.

Ancient Mausoleum Entrance~
The crumbling, cracked twists and curves of an enourmous marble archway
rises above a massive set of chipped obsidian doors hung on a pair of ornate
iron hinges.  The shattered remains of a complex lock clings almost
dejectedly to the center of the doors, warped and torn by some infernal
power.  An almost entirely obliterated sign hangs at a tilt above the
entrace, and a tiny shack is visible close by to the east.

Echoing Vestibule~
A fine mist hangs in the upper reaches of the air in this large room. 
The top arch of the vaulted ceiling is concealed by the fog, but faded
paintings and carvings can be seen from here.  An occasional tuft of grass
clings to a crack in the black marble floor, adding a slight touch of life
to these gloomy surroundings.  A cold, cracked pedestal resides in the
center of the room, with words etched into a plaque near the top.

A tiny, disheveled shack~
You have entered a sparsely furnished, windowless hovel.  A cot covers
the east wall, and a diminutive wood stove surrounded by kindling and dirt
takes up a corner.  The floor is partially covered by a natty, lumpy rug.

A muted intersection~
This circular room is lit by several hooded torches, spaced evenly along
the curved, tiled walls.  The ceiling seems to be a polished slab of black
marble, with one long crack spidering across the center.  The corner made by
the floor and walls is covered by a thick, soft layer of mold or moss, and a
human-like form can almost be discerned amongst the fungus.  Exits lead
north, east, and west to distinctly colored corridors, and south into an
entrance hall.

An amethyst hall~
A violet haze permeates this corridor, hiding most details.  Shapes form
from the fog and dissolve just as quickly, and unidentifiable sounds echo
through the..  Empty?  Space.  The mist thickens and swirls in more complex
patterns to the east.

A topaz hall~

An opal hall~
The shimmering walls of this hall would normally blind a man, had all the
torches in the holders been lit.  Now, though, there is but one light
burning low, casting an eerie shifting glow in the stones used to tile the
corridor.  This section of the Mausoleum seems to be void of any life,
including plants or fungus, of any type.  Even the air has a dead, stale
lack-of-smell to it..  The shining hall continues to the north, and an
intersection is visible south.

The opal hall~
The opal walls shimmer in a swirling pattern around an opening in the
east wall, presumably meant to be covered by the pulverized marble block
strewn across the floor.  Deep scratches mar the marble walk, and heavy
cracks radiate outward from the smashed crypt entrance.  The claw marks on
the floor and wall lead farther north.

A dismal crypt~
This is a crypt of royalty, as shown by the epic carvings on the formerly
gold-plated walls.  Sconces in each of the corners hold cold torches, and
deep gouges in the stone on the floor suggest a creature of incredible power
vacated this room in a hurry.  The lid of a large stone coffin is recessed
into the floor.  An inlaid cat is carved into the middle of the marble lid.

A filthy sandstone tunnel~
This room is the beginning of a crudely carved tunnel in the underlying
sandstone that the Mausoleum was built on.  Dust-covered spiderwebs shroud
the way, not to mention the ground is littered in dead bugs and rodent
skeletons.  The passage continues east into the dark.

A filthy sandstone tunnel~
A humanoid skeleton slumps in a shallow alcove on the south wall, covered
in dirt and cobwebs.  The walls are cracked, dry rock, thickly enveloped in
a layer of dust.  Obviously, nobody has been here in a very, very long time,
as the ground is undisturbed.  The tunnel leads east to utter blackness, and
back west to a slight glow of light.

skeleton~
This dusty reminder of a past adventurer is a grim reminder of the
dangers of stepping where one should not.  A little spider descends from the
eye socket, and several worms wriggle between the teeth.

A precarious ledge~
This ledge seems to be almost clinging to the edge of the pit of
eternity, so deep black that no light source can penetrate further than a
man's height below you.  The way back up to the tunnel is unclimbable, so
the only means off this edge seems to be to drop down, into the pit.

Inside the Stone Coffin~
There is no way out of this cramped coffin, the heavy lid having been
slammed tight.  Beetles skitter into the corners and grubs crawl around the
floor of the granite box.  A golden coffin rests in the center, taking up
most of the space.  The lid seems wrenched off, and the inside is a deep
shadowy black.

Far down the tunnel~
Far beneath the earth, the walls of this shaft are slick with a greenish,
flowing slime emerging from crevices in the walls.  There is nothing to hold
onto here except some sloped ledges and mossy cracks.  Drips of water rush
past, to disappear into the blackness below.

An eerie, glowing tunnel~
A layer of mist hangs several feet above the floor, shrouding the squishy
ground from view.  A faint light is emitted from the fog, allowing the
faintest bit of sight.  A large ragged hole in the ceiling leads up to a
tunnel, dripping water and slime into the stinking passage below.  The smell
of mold and death permeates the air in this foul pit, which leads east at a
downward angle.

A twisting passage~
Fang-like stalactites and stalagmites are spaced unevenly around this
curved section of tunnel, some meeting in the middle to form glistening
pillars.  The fog moves in eddies and currents, forming odd patterns in the
air.  A stench rises from deeper, as the tunnel leads south and down at a
steep angle.

A twisting downward passage~
The slimy slope leads south to a dark void, moisture flowing freely
between the formations on the floor.  Snakes and salamanders slide up the
pillars and walls, and the smell of rotting death hangs amidst the haze in
the air.

A corkscrew passage~
From this point, the tunnel leads down and around, almost like being
inside a massive corkscrew.  There are holes in the walls feeding in a
steady stream of water and other liquids, causing the flow on the floor to
strengthen.  The stream has an almost imperceptible reddish tint to it,
getting stronger the deeper the passage goes.

Stone to flesh~
At the higher eastern end of this section of tunnel, the walls are stone,
albeit soaked.  As the conduit proceeds to the depths, though, the texture
changes.  The sides gradually become paler, until to the west the slope is a
raw, pinkish-red and the rushing stream on the floor is dark red and
steaming..  The only footing from here seems to be chunks of rock and
flooring that break the surface.

A pulsing conduit~
The walls in this tunnel pulse with a rhythm, as if alive, as a rushing
flow of blood traverses the floor.  Tentacles hang from the walls and
ceilings, moving slowly, sometimes snatching up a small creature or two from
the stream.  A humanoid corpse is half-embedded in the wall close by,
holding a scrap of {yparchment{x in its dead grasp.

The dark has overtaken this formerly sacred Mausoleum,
and I am powerless against Them.
I have been wandering these depths for days, barely
avoiding the creatures of the Evil.
I believe that one of the Five has created these vile
caverns, so beware, friend!
I advise you to turn back, before you meet the same fate
that lies in wait for me in the near future.

Down the living tunnel~
The walls and floor of the conduit convulse and shudder to a steady,
booming rhythm.  The blood is now flowing at half a man's height, and churns
into waves as the corridor shakes.  Tentacles and other unidentifiable
'appendages' hang from the ceiling and walls, some moving slowly and others
flailing wildly.  The crimson flood continues to the north, down as liquid
is bound to flow.

The crest of the crimson falls~
Rushing blood boils past this spongy outcropping that splits the flow
into the great crevasse below.  Bits of dead things rush past, slipping over
the edge and disappearing into the spray.  There is no way to go upriver, as
the debris in the strong current all flows this way.  The only exit from
this precarious ledge is down, off the falls.

The roaring falls~
Blood flows all around, engulfing all it falls upon.  This is the
culmination of all the rivulets and trickles far up the tunnel.  Death and
debris sweep by, as the pounding weight of the crimson liquid crashes to
earth.  The single way out of this situation is down, to fall with the flow.

The bottom of the falls~
Steaming scarlet liquid pounds and thunders through the air, clashing
into waves upon impact below.  Several rocks jut from the wall of blood,
splitting the flow and churning it into bubbling froth.  The only viable
exit from here is down, down into the lake of blood.

The base of the bloody falls~
Warm blood splashes down onto the surface of a wide lake from a hole high
above, in the pulsing fleshy ceiling.  This section of the lake seems to be
near the edge of a massive, domed cavern.  Darkness shrouds the entire area,
making it very hard to make out any major features.

This blood-filled lake steams and burbles, as waves from the nearby falls
disturb the calm.  Unseen horrors glide bare inches beneath the surface,
mere shadows as the blood is almost entirely opaque.  Every once in a while,
a creature breaches the surface and dives again, creating a great commotion
and leaving a rippling ring.

throughout.  An evil-looking figure is stuck into the center, crawling with

Southeastern blood lake~
The wall that stops the lake curves from the west to the north, receding
above into darkness.  The ceiling seems to be very concave, making this a
huge domed cavern.  The disturbed blood laps up against the wall, almost as
if it's alive and impatiently waiting for..  Something.

A forbidding tower in mid-lake~
All the rest of the lake of blood has been steamy, slimy, and...  Alive. 
What strikes the eye as different here is the large, shining pure black
tower that shoots out of the boiling fluid at an extreme angle, like an
ebony sword blade.  Holes drilled up the side of the unnatural formation may
well serve as hand and footholds.

First level of the tower~
A thin black ledge runs around the sides of the black tower.  It is just
wide enough for two men to walk side-by-side, but barely.  The strange thing
about it is that is is spotless, even though filth and slime drip all
around.  A dark doorway leads east into the tower, which seems to be the
only way off this ledge besides back down.
