Editors
-------

These are the editors from the comp.editors list and some notes
on their possible use with WizShell. Realize that pretty much
all of these need to be converted so that they are secure.
(see the chapter on security)
My choice of the lot is elvis, because it was easy to alter
to make it secure, and it was fairly close to vi.

name site
---- ----
ce crs.cl.msu.edu:/pub/cedist.tar.Z
secure. configurable. home dir problem (especially when $HOME=/).

crisp ftp.uu.net:pub/crisp/cr_2.2e.tar.Z.*
  'brief' lookalike?

elvis ftp.uu.net:packages/gnu/elvis-1.4.tar.Z
vi "clone." Can be modified to be made secure
A modified copy of elvis is available with the wsh

FPTED minerva.inesc.pt:pub/aplic/fpted4.tar.Z
  small, easy to use.

JOE wpi.wpi.edu:stusrc/joe.tar.Z
configurable - mult. windows. had to change bindings.

jstevie utsun.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp [133.11.11.11], as ftp/jstevie1.3.tar.Z
  japanese editor?

mutt ed 2	hpcvaaz.cv.hp.com:pub/pub/me2.shar.Z
tried it.. okay but extensive.. didn't test make or telnet
  emacs like. medium, portable, extendable.
c mode. paren match, undo, processes in buffers.. like make or telnet?
would have lots of security problems with many of its features

microemacs	midas.mgmt.purdue.edu:dist/uemacs311/*
small. emacs based. Might make emacs users happy.

mined ??
  (minix editor)

origami ??
  (sunos only :-() folding editor!
Dont know if the folding editor works with LPC

pico ftp.cac.washington.edu:/mail/pine/pine.4.3.tar.Z
microemacs based. Tried it.. no big deal.

REDT email:Roger Nelson (rnelson@yoda.eecs.wsu.edu)
  vms/edt model.
keyboard configurable.. evens menus?? mult buffers.
