While Devon's bronze eyes stare sightlessly southwards, towards the castle that bears his name, the bronze beast rears slightly under his feet. Water pours from the mouth and blowhole of the beast, which appears something like a cross between a giant crocodile and a whale. A narrow entryway to the east leads to a Donation Room. To the west, a framed doorway contains the passageway to many wondrous lands, the Library. Glorious wooden arches frame the pristine glass windows that face the busy street outside, creating an enclave for scholars and visitors alike. Plants hang from the rafters and potted trees embellish the corners of this room, lending the library the ambience of a comfortable study. The building is imposing and made entirely of hard stone, it rises three stories, casting a deep shadow over this section of the square. Majestic stone monuments and fountains rest in the center and corners, memorials to previous kings or for wars won. The water from the fountain swirls into a pool, in which several large orange fish swim, searching hungrily for food. Upscale shops line the sides, and to the west the stone walls of the town hall can be seen. The mayhem of the square does not reach here otherwise, and only a few citizens move along towards the gate to Castle Dunluce, visible far off to the south. A tall granite archway leads into the arena to the east. Cheers of the crowds within the massive, imposing building pour over the walls in a low rumble. ~ 0 S 1 0 ~ I 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 607 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 609 S #609 0 0 ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 Seahan Way~ A wide arch leads off this quiet street to the west into a stone building with a domed roof. `d'Thesden Savings Bank'`l is written along the top of the arch. A long line of people seem to be waiting for a turn to make a deposit or withdrawal from the bank. ~ 0 DKSY 1 0 ~ I 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 609 S #611 0 0 ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 `kCumberland Avenue~ `lBuildings made of dark, sturdy woods line the sides of this wide street, some as tall as four stories. The lack of waste being thrown from high windows attests to the fact that Thesden's limited sewer system does reach these buildings at least. A steady stream of people flows from Devon's Square to the east, heading to the west side on Cumberland. `` ~ 0 0 0 0 ~ I 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 605 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 612 S #612 0 0 ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 `kCumberland Avenue``~ `lThis wide street continues across town east to west, filled with merchants, farmers, peasants and nobles. The ground is paved in wide slate stones, grey turned brown from years of dirt and worn in places from thousands of wagon wheels. To the south, thick white curtains hang in the windows of a building, a sign above the door reads, '`fCumberland Clothier`l'. `` ~ 0 0 0 0 ~ I 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 611 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 613 S #613 0 0 ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 `kCumberland Avenue``~ `lThe main avenue of Thesden is always crowded heavy merchant wagons travel along the center in time-worn ruts in the road, travelers and peasants move along the sides entering shops or begging for a coin. A number of strange sounds are coming from the building to the north, outside hangs a wooden sign which reads '`dLoris' Exotic Pets`l'. Another sign, painted in dripping crimson paint above the pub to the south reads '`bHangman's Tavern`l' reminding you that gallows square is located just to the west. ~ 0 0 0 0 ~ I 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 612 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 614 S #614 0 0 ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 `kNorth Gallows Square``~ `lWide slate stones cover the ground of this small square. Few people can be found here, those that are seem to be in a hurry to get somewhere else or are gathered in a crowd in the southwest corner. Larger crowds can be seen to the east moving along Cumberland Avenue. To the north stands the Thesden courthouse, rising three stories above the square. Wide slate stones cover the ground mixed with dirt and mud. A crowd is gathered to the south in front of the grim walls of the prison. A cobbled road leads to the north, and to the west a wooden bridge spans the river. `` ~ 0 0 0 0 ~ I 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 614 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 616 S #616 0 0 ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 `kThe Bridge``~ `lThis wooden bridge may have once been white, but the years have treated it badly, fading it to its current grey and brown. The beams creak under the strain of feet, though the others on the bridge don't seem much afraid of it falling. The houses are remarkably smaller than those on the east side of town, though they also seem much more populous. The sound of children playing and screaming mixes with the din of a hundred conversations on the street, filling the air with noise. At the center stands a withered old elm tree, dead branches and names of a hundred sweethearts carved into its trunk. Used constantly by merchants and travelers heading to the center of town, the slate stones worn and cracked from a thousand footsteps and wagon wheels. The gate to Thesden can be seen just to the west.`` ~ 0 0 0 0 ~ I 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 620 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 622 S #622 0 0 ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 `kWest Gate``~ `l The thick wooden gates of Thesden are to the west, flanked by two tall rounded towers. Only a few travelers or merchants occasionally come through the gates, heading quickly to the east side of town along Cumberland. To the east, two towers stand on either side of the gates of Thesden. The low rumble of crowds pours out of the town as if trying to disturb the peace of this quiet forest.
