It is very dark up here, with only the shards of sunlight slipping between the shingles of the roof to illuminate the room. You see the dust stirred up by your movement in the light, and are careful not to cause too much disturbance. A large pile of dry hay lies in the middle of the room, and a pitchfork rests neatly against it.`` ~ 0 0 0 0 ~ I 0 D1 ~ ~ 0 0 1004 D5 ~ ~ 0 0 1005 S #1008 0 0 ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 `kA path between the Main Gate and the Abbey Church``~ `c The deeply set slate path winds its way north to the Abbey Church, and south to the Main Gate. The ancient stones warped and twisted out of place under the influences of time and the many heavy carts that have made their way along its black form, the endless cartwheels pressing the stones deeper.`` ~ 0 0 0 0 ~ I 0 D0 ~ ~ 0 0 1010 D2 ~ ~ 0 0 1006 D3 ~ ~ 0 0 1013 S #1009 0 0 ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 `kThe Almonry Store Room``~ `l This is the Almonry's storeroom. It is surprisingly sparse, considering the number of people you saw in the main room. You assume that the Abbey must restock it fairly regularly to be able to distribute the amount of food that they do. A number of hessian sacks rest against the eastern brick wall, and four large barrels run along the south. From the smell of the room they were formerly used to store wine, but were taken for this more basic, if important task.`` ~ 0 0 0 0 ~ I 0 D3 ~ door~ 1 0 1001 S #1010 0 0 ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 `kA path between the Main Gate and the Abbey Church``~ `c You watch your step as you make your way along the path from the Main Gate to the Abbey Church, the raised edges of the slate slabs making it all to easy to catch your foot and fall. The encircling wall towers behind you, its age-old stones covered in the moss and lichen so abundant in this area. You wonder at how long it has stood there, exposed to the cruel weather, and how much longer it will last. The lush green lawn beneath your feet has a strangely springy quality, most likely caused by the peat soil beneath. A small mound draws your attention, and upon closer examination it turns out to be the entrance to some kind of underground tunnel, probably dug by a rabbit or some such animal.
