#HELPS 0 MCCP~ MCCP: Mud Client Compression Protocol MCCP reduces latency ("lag") by compressing the data sent by the MUD to the client using the zLib data-compression standard. A list of compliant clients can be found at http://www.abandoned.org/nemon/compress/ In particular zMUD version 6.03 and better implement MCCP v2, the version used in this MUD. To see the compression ratio being achieved, choose Preferences->General under the View menu, and click on the emulation tab. The ratio is written at the bottom of the tab, in red. See also {BHELP COMPRESS{x. ~ 0 COMPRESS~ Syntax: Compress MCCP has been implemented in CoolMUD. It will be auto-detected when you first log in; in all but the most bizarre circumstances, there should be no need to manually control it. However, should the need arise, the {BCOMPRESS{x command will allow you to force MCCP on or off. Here's the procedure for the latest zMUDs: Go into View->Preferences->Sounds. Click the plus next to sounds. Click on the MSP tab. Check all boxes except "Echo MSP triggers." Or, for those with zMUD version 5.31 and up: Go into Edit->Preferences->Sounds. Click on the plus next to sounds. Click on the MSP tab. Click the arrow next to the URL after clicking each sound in the list. A download box should come up as it gets it from the site. Optionally, for those without 5.31, get the following sounds and put them into your MSP folder for CoolMUD under "combat" directory: http://home1.gte.net/reif/MSP/combat/start.wav http://home1.gte.net/reif/MSP/combat/lucky.wav http://home1.gte.net/reif/MSP/combat/nooo.wav Enjoy! ~ 0 $~ #$
