This mural depicts two stone statutes standing guard at the towns main
gate, defending the town against hoards of Duergar, the evil looking
cousins of the Dwarf restlessly attack the town only to be slaughtered
by the statutes. Standing on the towns ramparts is an old wizard,
supported by two men, one a huge cityguard the other a wizened dwarf,
the old wizard barely keeps his feet even with the help of the two.

Desc You stand inside a cozy living room. Thick carpets line the floors,
while long hanging curtains cover the walls. This room is very hot, not
only because of it carpets and curtains, but also because heat is pouring
out of the next room to the north. A fire crackles in the room corner,
sending a rosy glow around the room. This place looks great, maybe
time to put up those adventuring boots for a while and settle in.

Desc Yes, you think to yourself. A heated indoor pool. This room has
water bubbling up through the ground and gathering in natural pool.
Things could not get much better than this. The pool takes up nearly
the entire room, leaving little room for anything else. The steam rises
and glides around the room seeking escape, and finds it into the living
room. You wonder where exactly the heat is coming from, insignificant you
muse, but something nags you about that question. You resolve to find out
later.

Desc You stand before the market place of the town. This is perhaps one
of the most interesting markets in the realm. The market sprawls out in
front of you, a sea of stalls and people. Looking down the street you

Desc This is a quiet alley corner, you feel very alone in this corner and the
place seems a little darker than the rest of the town. In the corner of
the alley some writing is on the wall. Save for the writing this is the
most boring alley you have ever been in.

is not the threat it was the Duer... .. The writing ends abruptly with a
line as though the writers hand has been pulled away. You can only
guess what the author meant but have no doubt something is up.

Desc Inside the market the noise hits you, people are yelling prices, others
screaming 'stop thief,' and yet others talking shop with each other. You
realize that the market is one nasty place after all. The road beneath your
feet is cobbled unlike the other roads in the town. Although old, it has
held up to the hundreds of feet well and now remains one of the few things
about the town unchanged.

Desc You are in side a metal smith's shop. Searing heat comes from the
forge out the back of the shop and you feel that if you were any closer
you would surely burn. This shop sells rare dwarven make equipment,
which looks very expensive. The shop its self is bland. The ceiling of this
shop has a rather large hole in it, this is obviously to let out the heat.
You notice the shop's counter is badly damaged, looks like axe marks.

There are axe marks here on this counter, someone has tried to wreck
this metal smith shop once. The imprint of a crest from an axe is left
on the underside of the counter, must have been a bad swing for it to
hit side on. The crest is dwarven in nature.

Desc You are inside a bright little shop. A quaint little counter separates
you from the merchandise which seems mostly to be worthless trinkets.
This shop has a floor made entirely of wood. The wood must be covering
the stone floors. Light streams in from the outside as this shop has no
roof. Wooden beams run above your head holding the shop together.

Desc You stand in what you approximate to be the center of the market.
This is a busy spot. People pour into a stall south of you in eager
anticipation, and you wonder where they are going. Directly north of you
the stone wall rises up from the cobbled market floor almost ten feet
high. This wall is strong and solid, you estimate it at four feet deep.
The walls back against mountain terrain and you are left wondering why
such a strong wall faces the mountain. Surely the front gates would be
more important to defend.

Desc You stand inside very busy shop, with people hustling and bustling around.
Many people disappear behind some curtains then you see no more, strange,
so many people can fit behind those curtains. A counter is here, which has
pictures of great fighters on the front, most of which you don't recognize.
On the walls hangs a painting representing two crossed forearms, this is
the symbol of the gladiator.

Desc So this is where all the people have been going. As you enter the
underground arena you are hit by the smell of blood, leather and sweat.
In the center of the makeshift arena is a large circle, formed in the
dirt by a thick rope. Outwards and around the circle people mill
around jostling for the best seat. This is the obviously one of the
infamous gladiatorial pits. In the far corner of the room a large
man walks forward from the crowd and shouts "I WILL CHALLENGE."
You sit back to watch just one fight.

You prepare to watch one of the opening fights of the day, The large
man strides forward from the crowd and plants his feet firmly in the
center of the circle. The arena announcer shouts out Drelkaeu, squire
of Marah come forward and let the games begin. Out of the back of
the arena comes a skinny drow female, she carries nothing. Drelkaeu
walks into the circle and stops, she remains motionless. The
announcer shouts "begin". The huge man leaps to the attack meaning
to squash this petty creature in his hands, as he runs forward the drow
ducks pulls a dagger from a sheath and plunges it into the back of the
large man as he goes charging by. He falls without a cry, Drelkaeu
slips away. The announcer then shouts "well that was quick, um Is
there anybody out their wanting to face our champions?"

Desc This an old mining shop which sells mining goods to those who would
venture into the mines west of the town. It is run down and in need of
repair. The wooden ceiling boards are all but decayed and the water can
get through the roof. Scattered about the room are old broken bottles
and some empty handles of beer. For a town built on mining this is
most strange that this shop would be out of business.

Desc To the west are solid iron gates. They are ten feet high with sharp
spikes on the top of each length of iron. The gates are locked tight,
barred and chained. Not so much as to stop people from heading in to
the mines beyond but to stop something from getting out. You stare past the
gates and see the dark entrance to the mine, the mainstay of the local
community. What has happened that you can no longer get to the mine? To
the north is something almost as disturbing, a dark corner of the town. You
peer hard in the darkness but cannot make anything out.

Desc This area is dark and forbidding. Nothing lives here, the grass is dead,
and the air still. What may have occurred here you can only guess at. In
the far corner of the town up against the wall there is a well. It seems to
be the source of your discomfort. Around the well bones twisted and
lifeless glare at you a reminder of your mortality. The walls of the town
look twisted and misshapen from here. Surely this a dangerous place and one to
stay clear of.

The see bones scattered about the well they are broken and misshapen, the well
itself seems alive. Dark black the well draws you closer, you feel the evil of
this place draw away your courage. Thick moss lines the base of the well and
dead vines reach out from the cracks between the mine and the town wall like
fingers searching for a way out. Upon looking in the well you see a rusty
ladder descending into the mine's depths.

Desc You reach the bottom of the ladder, and stand perhaps ten feet below the
ground level. You are in a circular cave with rock walls all the way round.
This room is very dark and you find it hard to see even with lighting. You
see no water in the bottom of this well. How strange, the place feels more
like a prison.
