before you is an imposing sight. Long blond hair falls past his shoulders,

the plains, moving easily across the snow, with no sign of fatigue. He
wields a large spear, almost as long as he is tall, with a deadly-looking
point.

The Entrance to the Forest~
An ancient forest stands ahead, its trees heavy with snow from a recent
storm. No signs of any trails or roads can be seen among the trees, and if
anyone has come this way recently, whatever signs they left of their passage
have been erased by the fresh snow. The forest spreads outward towards the
north, a huge expanse that seems to be endless and completely untouched by
civilization.

Among the Fir Trees~
A thick forest of pine trees stands all around you. Growing closely
together, they block visibility beyond a few feet, and their towering
heights hide the sun's warming rays. A thick layer of glistening snow lies
upon the forest floor, hiding roots and rocks that threaten to trip the
unwary. To the south, the forest seems to clear a bit, making passage a
good deal easier.

Before the Edge of a Cliff~
The ground suddenly falls away to the east, an abrupt drop that could
easily lead the unaware to their deaths. A thick layer of ice by the
cliff's edge makes it a challenge to maintain proper footing, and the fall
to the ground below appears to be at least a hundred feet. To the north and
west the forest continues, and the ground appears to be more stable.

fierce wind blowing overhead. The trees here grow close enough together to
block much of the wind, but the air is still devastatingly cold, enough to
freeze exposed skin in a matter of minutes. The forest continues in every
direction, seeming to go on forever.

By a Rocky Ledge~
A rocky cliff rises up to the west, with a large ledge providing some
welcome shelter from the snow. It does little to protect against the cold
and the wind, however, as the unfortunate soul whose frozen corpse lies
beneath it surely came to realize.

eyes are fixed upon the sky above, and his features are frozen in a grimace.
A traveling pack lies by his side, half-buried under the snow and frozen to
the ground.

Among the Fir Trees~
A sharp wind blows through the treetops, filling the air with its eerie
wail, and causing the snow gathered upon the tree branches to come showering
down to the forest floor below. Although the trees offer good protection
against the wind, some of its stronger blasts make it through, chilling the
air considerably. Every now and again a loud cracking sound is heard,
followed by the sound of a tree crashing to the ground off in the distance.

Before a Great Fir Tree~
A large fir tree stands before you, rising up almost one hundred feet
into the air, towering over the rest of the forest. Its ancient trunk looks
to be several meters in diamater, and its low-hanging branches fall nearly
to the ground. There appears to be plenty of room beneath the tree's cover
for several people to fit comfortably.

A wolf howls somewhere in the distance, shortly answered by several
answering calls from every direction, a few sounding very close. The air is
crisp and chilly, every exhalation visible in a small cloud that spreads
outward and then dissipates. Trees rise up on every side, hiding anything
more than a few feet away from sight.

The fierce wind blowing up above shakes the treetops violently, causing
large chunks of snow and ice to periodically come lose and crash into the
forest floor, along with any creature unlucky enough to be caught in the
path of the fall. The sun is visible here and there through the treetops,
but it seems to be a pale shadow of itself, unable to offer any relief from
the icy cold.

endless white sea of snow stretching as far as the eye can see. To the
south, the forest is thicker, the trees growing close together and giving no

the treetops to slowly drift downward.

A vast plain extends before you, stretching out as far as the eye can
see. Though there are no trees or shrubs to block the way forward, progress
is difficult as a thick layer of snow several feet deep covers the ground.
Every step forward is a struggle, the snow soft and collapsing at the
slightest pressure, causing anyone trying to walk across to sink almost to
their thighs. The beginning of a forest lies to the east, the trees growing
thicker further towards the south.

The forest appears to be thinning out, the trees placed more sparsely
towards the north and west. Although a deep layer of snow remains, passage
here appears to be much easier than to the south. The pale sun shines
overhead, its beams falling upon the snow only to be reflected back up again
with a greater intensity that makes it difficult to watch for long.

The forest seems to grow thicker to the south, the trees packed so
closely together that it is difficult to see beyond a few feet. A thick
layer of snow covers the ground and tree branches, causing them to sag down
towards the forest floor. Though nothing appears to be moving among the
trees and snow, sounds of life come from every direction, and every now and
again a tree branch rustles as a small animal moves across it.

Snow falls gently from the sky above, adding a fresh layer to the ground
that hides any tracks by man or beast almost as soon as they can be made.

Tall mountains rise majestically up ahead, their peaks lost in the
clouds. The plain here gradually turns to foothills, covered with ice and
growing steeper further to the north. A particularly large hill stands just
to the side, with a wide opening on its southern face that appears to lead
into an underground cavern. The foothills to the north quickly grow too
steep to climb safely, and the harsh wind blowing down from the mountain
tops promises a quick death for any foolish enough to try.

Everywhere your eyes turn, the vast plain extends, covered in snow and

You fall helplessly down the cliff face, its icy walls scraping your back
and doing little to slow your descent. The speed at which you are falling
prevents you from getting a proper hold on anything to stop your fall. Time
almost seems to stand still as the ground below suddenly looms before you.
