running the site and doing the coding. We had no choice but the delete
anyone who was 110 for the time being because we cou ld not demote you
without you being on. If you were level 110 and sitll wish to work here,

I coded in a helpfile saver last night, but it does some wierd ass shit.
It causes a segmentation fault, even tho the helpfile saved is almost 100
percent identical to the original. This fault keeps the mud from booting,
so don't save helps yet on Alphaport, meph go ahead and take a look at
it, i'm way too tired, and been way to tired for a while now, the
structure for saving is there, but it's not doing it quite right. The mud
hangs on boot for some odd reason, gives bizare ambigious errors and does
other stuff. I cleaned up hedit too so it's all nice. No more warnings on
it. Oh well, will finish it up tommorow.

Alright here's the situation.  No one wants a good vs evil war.  Everyone wants it to be more neutral, just 2 kingdom fighting.
 
But that causes conflicts with the homelands.  For examples there's the ancient road of evil just east of masqe.  Masqe is underground, etc...
 
 
I'd be willing to built anothercity with a homeland surrounding it, at least for masqe.  Xylar can still be used possibly, but masqe is just so very evil...
If enough of you agree with this, i'll start building.

Ok i think that's a good idea, but if you can, call the city masque but
just use like xylar's shape so both city look exactly the same (to make
balance even more fair for both aligns) so we dont hear "but this align
got this, and this align got that", i think it would be a neat idea. If
you really want i could make a copy of xylar make it used other vnums and
you just change it in masque, that would be less work.

Well as you might have noticed flatline have been coding a lot lately and
all this coding was for one thing which was online help editor, and it's
finaly in (level 110 command). This will hopefully allow us to keep help
files more easily updates and be more organized. Also i cleared up all
the oldeditors alogn with "config oldeditor" my next step is to remove
the useless anon command and put it as a config which should be done in
the next few hours.

As many of you might have noticed before, anon command was pretty stupid,
not only it was an other command to remember but the code of this command
was realy ugly, wasting useless space in pfiles so coded it so it could
be used as a config instead. Due to these changed i had to delete the
show_lev structure in the pfiles and i had to edit all the pfile by hand
to fix the extra info which isnt required anymore. So while doing this i
also cleared up all the useless pfile, trying to keep all the most active
builders. If i did any mistake just write note to me i'll re-advance you
asap.

Ok, ive been working on southern highway road south of tivador and i did
some big changes. I unlinked desert from south of of tiv, because we're
nuking that fucked up maze desert... i re did all the area south of tiv
into roads and forest ect, and thru some hilly parst and i have it linked
into azran valley..im still not thru because i need to relink areas that
were linked to desert so no worries about that, but it looks pretty
good...i dunno what we're linking to ne part of azran it use to be umpqua
but if u have any ideas wehrei t should be linked lemme know..

It seems the mud have been spaming logs all nite cauz someone didnt use
aedit corectly, When you aedit create always make sure to change the
filename before saving anything, and also assigined vnums or else it will
save the default area (area0.are) and will spam crash the mud when it
tries to load.

Ok finaly this mud as been updated to alphaport version which i was
working for the past days, things i fixed: 
 
-Pkstat is no longer a command
-Pkdata structure have been wiped totaly out of the code (for pkstat command)
-the use of topten.dat rating.dat pkdata.dat have been combined in 1 file which is now called ranking.dat
-ranking command is in, little basic, if you have sugestion please write notes.
-user command has been modified so you now see people's level
-removed toptr.c, added new ranking.c and added the save/load sturcture in the file so it's easy to change.
 
Well i think that's about it,. if you got any sugestion or comment on new feature just send me notes,.

Well i've done a couple of fixes today, i removed 3 useless variable and
about +100 checks in the code which make it even faster now. I also fixed
force command so you can force any mobs, and the drop coin bug is fixed
now, it should all work perfectly.

Well i fixed a couple of other problems, changed do_slist_help to
show_help_text and made it so it doesnt check the level, so we can use it
for slist now and put help file level 110 (for like spells so ppl dont
see those useless help files). Also slist now use "HIDDEN
<spell/skills/prof name>" when checking for help file, so we can use 2
help files, like "help hide" to get info on how hide work,. "slist hide"
to see a brief desc of hide, so no more loc2 "slist forge" that take 3
page to read,. hum also removed the gretting_help_a variable and cleaned
up comm.c

ok we putting in bows, they are gonna be quite nice, usable only by

rangers however, so if you would like to have one in your area, read help

bows and make an item (crossbow/longbow/shortbow) we have not figured out

yet how to actually code them but we will and we will use your ansi if

you make a kewl one and put our own stats.. make sure that one of

keywords is longbow/shortbow/crossbow so that we can find them 

also impale gonna be better then on ptest so polearms wont suck

Ok so i was sitting in my Human and Animal Sacrifice class today and

started talking about Aztec Sacrifice and Warfare, and began talking

about how the Aztecs wouldnt kill their enemys but Capture them!!! Skill:

Capture Level: 45 (what ever lvl you think) Guild: Thief/ Assassin (maybe

ranger) and i dont know tier system Basically when you are pking and an

enemy hits awful a thief in the group can use the skill Capture; this

would basically paralize your enemy but you cannot kill him after you do

this. Give it a timer of 10 ticks. Then in the middle of the map have an

area (lets say a prison) where you can take your captured enemy. When

successful on taking them to this room you gain 2 times the amount as you

would for their pdeath. But you must be in a group of more then just the

thief. If you do not make it to the prison by the 10 ticks then the

person has a chance to run. I have more ideas for it, but dont want to

bore you if this is impossible to do. But i thought this would be Fucking

Awsome (laugh). Please respond to this.

Yes, i fixed all the protection problems that were presend in aedit code,

so from now on the "Corrupted Area" spam crash errors shouldnts happen

anymore. I also updated help aedit, for level 110. The new use of the

command to create areas is "aedit create <filename>.are". You canot

longer create areas when an other area use the same filename, also the

area01.are bug shouldnt happen since you have to pick a new filename when

you create an area. Also fixed minor bugs related to vnums so they dont

overlap.

I had an idea about weapons as ive been tryin to fix some averages that

weer a bit crazy, and differenciate some averages as well. I thought

perhaps we could add a "delay" into weapons. This would determine the

speed of your attacks with different weapons. Ie: you could have a 6d3

weapon with a 25 delay which would hit twice for every one time a weapon

with a 50 delay hit....this way we could have higher weapon averages with

longer delays in order to give them some poor quality. In this aspect

also we could differenciate weapons for different classes. The warriors

would want the weapons with higher averages even with longer delays for

the damage, and mages would want weapons that were very fast, low delay,

but that had fairly crappy averages. I think its a cool thought so gimme

your info if you like it.

Well even with all my changes there seemed to have problems when you

reload the file, cauz the memory allocations are changed so there is

nothing i can do about it. So instead i changed rld_help so you cant

reload help when someone is editing.

there are a few pieces lacking in the game, if you're building an area or

care to take the time and add a piece or two of eq to the game, there

arnt many kneepads/elbowpads/visors/backgear, so if you have time to

think up GOOD names and good ansi and no crazy stats, this would be nice

in either your own area or zones that you know would be good to have

them...thanks

probably because of forged weapons being required to do

any amount of damage

I've never seen anyone use throw

mebbe if something loade which u could throw

for like, 50-100 points of damage

or if thief skill <sharpen>

to make raw materials that load

could allow him to make darts, spikes, and javalins

obviously less material for dart/spike

the thing is, somethig small in the way of natural materials

(materials that load) like, a shard of obsidian

couldnt be used to make a javalin

mebbe something like, a shaft of petrified wood

sharpen wood

success = A javaln of petrified wood

the skill wouldnt only entail sharpening, but also balancing

i think it would be easier if it was only 1 skill though

perhaps chunks could be used to make darts

with plat - onyx doing 40

and mith - diamond doing 50-80

javalns could max at like, 150? and take awhile to throw ranged

spikes would fill a middle ground

l 1. forger could forge several chunks into a rod (to make spikes)

or a shaft (to make javalns)

however, it's very important that a thief be able to make these

w/o the need of a forger

thus, chunks, rods, and shafts wuold have to load that

are as good as the product of forged rods and shafts

once again, the thief would have to <sharpen (and balance)> <object>

to make it throwable

with adam and diamond chunks sharpenable into 75pt throwing weapons

the chunks could be made directly into darts

ill check in and try some new ideas in a bit

the thing is

who is gonna throw chunks of diamond

when u could take just a few and make an earring instead

thats why damaeg from a diamond dart should be significant

 

even platinum, u could make a wis earring with, what, 4?

besides, damage of less than 40 per hit

means ur WAY better off just going into the room

even if u just engage and stand there

so figure (darts made from 1 or 2 chunks)

how bout, darts can only be made from obsidian +

obsidian = 35 pts of damage

diamond = 75 (ppl will Rarely spend a diamond chunk to do 75)

when they could take 4 diamond chunks and make an anklet with 4-5 kick

lets also keep in mind that a thief could be ni the room

doing crit hits etc instead of doing piddly damage from range

also..

figure 3 chunks to make a rod

and 6 chunks to make a javalin

noone is gonna use 6 high-end chunks to make a 1 use weapon

even if damage on a diamond javalin is 300, 1 use aint worth 6 chunks

once again, lets no make this entirely dependant on forgers

and remember, my thief on loc2 has never had tinkers

so i cant mine

mebb on loc3 i can get tinkers tier1 to mine and sharpen

and rangers tier1 to get mapping

however, sharpen should require tinkers tier1 and assassins tier3

btw, i consider mapping to be Owen's greatest achievement

since the original emlen code

restricting its use to fighters is bogus

fighters will always be powerful enough

i dont see mapping on the ranger slist

i spose most classes could afford to get rangers tier1

the thing is, if u dont get it right away

those who do, will be weeks ahead of u in exploring

in the 1st week of play

This combat system is round based and therefore 'delay' is simulated by

the weapon dice conventions used. That is, 5d1 does 'faster' damage than

1d5 when projected into a round based time scale. You just need to tweak

the weapons right.

i dont know why, but that like the coolest idea i've ever heard.

make it a HIGH Level high remort many guild cost

make it so only a high level mage can use it, needs ot be wielding a dagger

anyway, make it a diceroll. so that if they jsut die you get regular wps

say the dice is 7d2, u need to do over 10 damage or something like that

if succesfull the corpse is sacrificed and everyone there gets a HUGE

bonus in xp. or maybe just in wps.  and the person being sacrificed would

have a 10 tick paralyze and would have to sit there and watch.

honestly if you guys coded in this skill, i would probably go mage again

next whipe, even tho i was dead set on tank.

ok a couple bugs i noticed,

1) when you sheath an item it just seems to disappear

2)if you dual two weapons you can wear a shield

3) i don't know if this is a problem but if you create an object with

some + affects on it, then oload it, wear it, remove the affects,

and then remove the object you still keep the +affects that the object 

gave you

Ignore command has been fixed, it now works as it should have been

working. Also the help file has been updated. Also, my new cleaned up

help editor didnt work out as planned so flatline and me had to spend a

couple of hours trying to fix memory problems, but the good news is that

now is works perfectly, enjoy:P

for some reason i cannot seem to make the magemob command work for me i

have tried all possible combo's 

To create a spell casting mobile, enter the mobile editor and type

cast_p <0 cast all spells>

then type

casts <spell number>

Use slookup <spellname> to get the spell number.

 

 but for some reason it will not let me do this. is this a problem or is it just me...

Okay, i think i fixed magic, it's still messy but it should work. Spells

now accurately determine if they're ranged, and if they're flagged area

they're area. You can't area an offensive spell on members of your own

alignment atm, that can be fixed.

Added in a new aff for the undead spiritual races and mebbe spells, it's

AFF ETHEREAL.  When it's set normal non mobile attacks pass right through

you and don't do damage unless the person is wielding a glowing weapon.

kinda like a lesser form of being a ghost.

added a new flag to magic while fixing it last night. 

Called Ranged, if the spell is flagged ranged it can always be ranged

without the other requirements for a ranged spell.  I think thats what

you wanted gaus?

Ok i did a lots of building today, readded all the object descriptions

because when re-did object code we lost all the old description. But

fortunaly i had backups and i had to fix them all by hand. For builders

information too, since most of the ppl dont seem to know, you can put

description on objects now, just type desc in oeditor. Also if you wanna

know what work is done in your area, use the Count command, (Count

<yourname>) it will show how many mobs/room/objs and how many description

have been done for each of them. It updates each time you save, so it's

very helpful to help build your area, just letting everyone know.

u can range any spell if u have proper guild, whether it has range flag

or not, fix that and please make the requirement to ranging tier 4

sorcerer guild only and make ranged spells take 1.5x time to cast and do

0.75x damage

Ranged spells are gonna be a special flag now, it's up to you to set tier

and damage properly, it shouldnt require tier 4 to cast ranged spells

since you can make really shitty ranged spells. You just gotta balanced

them like the normal spells.

Alright, I worked the scroll into the necro tower and I fixed everything

that i think needs fixing with it. I'm gonna fix my other areas but i

don't think that will take much more than a hour at the most. I'll work

on a new area after that, or I can fix old areas or whatever just tell me

Ok after hours of non stop coding, i finaly managed to recode almost

entirely aliases. Now they are working as suposed to and are impossible

to abuse in bad way or even think about using them to crash the mud. I

think the new outlook of alias list is pretty cool too, while doing this

i did a new procedure to make boxes like this so it will take a few mins

next time we want to do commands like this. I also cleaned up a lot of

useless code and update ignore's list box with the new code. I think

that's about it, if you guys got any commands of new aliases just send me

notes, the helpfile is updated too.

alias/expansion was so that you can tell which alias matches wihch

Ok siteban is now working as it always was supose to be, now when someone

siteban an ip, he can choose wether it's Newbie banned or Connection

banned. Doing this allowed me to removed about 3 useless procedure and

put them all in the same command which is more practical. Also now when

you siteban your name get tracked and it also write the date, you also

have to enter a reason. I think that's pretty cool, gonna update the

shitty helpfile now, enjoy.
