Results: With the 'on' switch, the command enables ANSI colors for you.
If your terminal supports ANSI, you will see colors. If you are
on a vt100 terminal or similar, the colored stuff will appear
bold. the 'off' switch turns your coloring off. the 'test'
switch displays a series of X's on your screen in ANSI colors
to determine if you support ANSI.
This setting is saved to disk for future logins.
**Coloring is set to OFF, by default.
