  Note: <type> will return 0 for energy weapons, 1 for missile 
  weapons, 2 for artillery weapons, 3 for ammo weapons and 4 for other 
  weapons (eg sword)
 
  Error Messages:
 
  * If <weaponname> is not a valid partname the function returns #-1 
    INVALID PART NAME
  * if <weaponname> is not a valid weaponname the function returns #
    -1 NOT A WEAPON
