Heroes of the Lance 3 - Unique Fusion and Skills System (self.MUD)
submitted 1 month ago * by raistie
Heroes of the Lance 3 is a Dragonlance, Forgotten realms based mud.
We have a unique skills/spells/class system without restrictions on what you can learn. Through learning from books, full customisation of skills is possible.
A unique class is then assigned based on your choices. However, this also means it's easier to 'screw up' your character.
There are over 30 races to choose from and no two are alike. Depending on the 'time you are born', you would get a unique character with different inclinations and abilities.

Players can then 'fuse' (mate :P) with each other to mix-and-match genes, thus creating new characters that evolve or inherit genetics from the fusion process.
This provides almost endless personalised character development and playing.
With an AP system, every action you take is perfectly controlled by YOU - gone are the days where you use a skill and not get immediate action.
This also means war is fast-paced…. and exhilarating.

Although we have a steep custom learning curve, if you are up for the challenge and can get past the initial difficulty,
You will definitely find a uniquely rewarding experience that is not offered by many other muds.
This mud started as an EoD back in 2003, then ported to Dystopia 1.2 on February 2007.

Mud is bilingual spanish/english, language chosen on account creation.

Players can max their character very fast and be ready for pk, but can
also continue improving, in such a way that casual vs hardcore
characters fights are not unfair.

No ganging is allowed, unless all parties involved have declared
themselves as gangers.

All classes have been carefully balanced: each class is balanced to
every other class.

Although not newbie-friendly, lots of help files are available for
knowledgeable godwars/dystopia players to learn the many new features
and powers. Just be sure to read 'help newbie'.

We want your head! Come and try to get ours!
Long before the World Wide Web, in the year 1989, the world known as Avalon emerged: the first roleplaying text based game, the archetype to which millions have looked or imitated for its brilliance untainted and ever-evolving innovations that keep it to this day at the very edge of the game industry.

In this world of mortals and deities, where nought but merit succeeds one to the best and few be remembered in its vast, neverending history of legendary figures, mortals reign over their beloved cities and guilds, war amongst each other through the complex economic systems fueled by players trading, farming and labouring over the land, and with such resources they marshall legions to clash epic over possession of the world while others fight each other in the most sophisticated contest of wits and imagination.

In this land of beauty and brutality, one may live greater than life itself, for nowhere else do passions rampage and possibilities range endlessly before you so much as Avalon. And this all is witnessed by the Pantheon for which mortals have a mixture of fear, love and aspiration, for once every few years a gamut of Gem Quests culminate in a race for Ordination in which only the greatest mortal may claim apotheosis and admission to the tempestuous Pantheon.

Avalon has 9 professions, and over 25 guilds. Seers, Warlocks, Cavaliers, Assassins, Sorcerers, and more! Four cities rule the realm in a meritocracy, meaning the players shape the land. All cities are player-ran, with a live economy that the citizens of Avalon alter. With over 18,000 rooms, the quest to see what each one hides is a never-ending path of treasure, heartache, death, and glory!

Come to LOTJ and enter a gaming experience where the players have
all lent a hand in making a galaxy filled with worlds to enjoy.
Think of three major eras of the Star Wars story played out
throughout the course of a year, travel through Mandalore and see
the armies born on Kamino. See the rise of the usurper and the fall of
his rule, and the pheonix of peace born from the ashes of a dead sith
lord.

On LOTJ each planet can be governed by a major clan. The governing
body can set up a leader for the planet, who sets up his government.
Members of the greater clan can work as agents of the planetary
government, with their own channel so that they and their fellows can
collaborate.

We also offer our players the chance to take an idea, a concept, and
make a clan of their own. Our webpage offers an online method for
submitting applications, for things ranging from forcers to clans to
anything your creative mind can imagine that wouldn't be out of place
in SW.

Although our mud is a PKILL environment, we also have a very user-
friendly account system that lets our players garnish points from the
death of characters and then use those points to purchase levels for
new characters. This is done when someone is "permed", which is our
way of saying ultimately dead.

Players elect our main decision making body: the RolePlay Council
(RPC). When someone is "permed" and they believe proper RP/RULES
observations weren't made, or that some sort of foul play was at hand,
they turn to this elected group of seven individuals. They discuss it
amongst themselves and render judgement upon the situation, giving our
Player Representatives team the decision to render punishment if
required.

With a max players of 113 scored as of April 24, 2005 we offer a wide
variety of player interaction. Come see what you've been missing!
Hexahedron is a large and mostly original world. It supports
ANSI color. We have no set theme. It does boast a high fantasy,
sword and sorcery setting, filled with Elves, Giants, Dragons and
the occasional Cyborg, plus much more. We support a 3 remort,
which includes special races and classes set aside for the final
remort. The arena/quest system has several facets, gives players
much to do and accomplish while venturing the by ways of
Hexaherdon.
Haven is a highly detailed, extremely large world with
a very small playerbase. We need more players to grow!

Experience-point system complete with detailed combat
and non-combat skills, highly detailed magic system,
player-run economics and even player-ownable ships!

18 Player Races, 20+ Player Towns, 8 Religions
3 Continents!
4 Planes of existence!

Newbie-friendly but geared towards grown-ups, run by
grown-ups with multiple years of experience.

Abandoned Realms is a highly modified diku mud. The objective of the mud is to focus on gameplay. We want a MUD where people can enjoy themselves and other aspects of the mud, without compromising gameplay. Gameplay to us is having rich themes to our areas, various creatures that talk to players instead of just sitting around, and well balanced race/classes.

We have an extended help file system, a newbie chat for those unfamiliar with this kind of MUD, and plenty of friendly imms willing to answer your questions. There are 16 races and 16 classes each unique with their advantages and disadvantages. New races and classes are consistently being added and the old ones refined to preserve gameplay. There are also seven cabals, with plans to add more in the future.

We enforce roleplaying here, we like to see players who have unique backgrounds, enjoy being memorable characters, and in turn, meeting other memorable characters. We also have mob runned quests that will improve certain aspects of your character.

Although we do encourage player killing, we also discourage senseless slaughter. We have refined the gameplay so that brains will win over brawn because nobody likes boring hack and slash. We test our pk ranges thoroughly for fairness. If you enjoy roleplaying in a complex and vast world mixed with the thrills of playerkilling then Abandoned Realms is for you.
Are you seeking adventure and role-playing opportunities in
a high quality environment? Look no further!

Muddy Waters is a theme-based fantasy mud in the
swords-and-sorcery genre. We've been around for a few years.
The setting is medieval with an original, unique
history and mythos. When you play Muddy Waters, you'll be
part of a story, and you can add to it. Muddy Waters prides
itself on providing a fair and challenging experience in
an artistic and high quality setting. Most of all, it's fun.

Muddy Waters is based on a skill and stat system rather than
a level system, with a variety of guilds to choose from.
Characters can belong to different types of guilds. It runs
on a dedicated machine. Character creation is open, and we
have a guest account if you just want to look around.
Player killing is permitted, although not encouraged. Our
world has a day and a night. We are newbie friendly.
Use the links below to check us out, and we'll see you there!

In addition:

The history and legends of the mud are completely original.

The mud beginning is not overbearing, room descriptions are crisp and clear unlike the garbage of information that assaults you in the beginning of most muds.

It is an large mud, but not so large that it becomes unmanageable. One constantly discovers new things and is seldom intimidated or overwhelmed unless searching for it.

Although it is possible to hack n' slash to peer questing is highly suggested. Although there are easier quests that feature normal syntax-games and simple search and retrieve types the game contiues in depth towards quests created by the masters of CalTech that require travels across multiple continents and intense cogitation.

Intelligent, helpful players.

Completely free, volunteered coding.

Colorful rooms, oddly humorous NPC's and constant update by wizards.

So why? you ask, if Muddywaters is such a great mud, are we asking you to come play it?
Muddy waters was enjoying a user base of about 35+ users on average at one time but the younger generation was sucked up by the graphic boom of the 2000's period. We are also looking for more international players as it is fairly active active at peak times but can be depressingly empty at others.
The best time to meet other people is around 17:00 , 5 PM GMT-7( or US Pacific time with Daylight savings) although the world almost completely navigable alone.

It really is the most crisp, intelligent, and incredible mud out there. If you consider yourself up to a Roleplaying challenge with incredible quests and monsters of all sorts and sizes, Look no Further!
J. Sebek's Clandestine MUD has been 100% Free since its opening in 1997. Clandestine's primary focus is to create a fun environment that can appeal to any RPGer. To this end, we offer:

- The most beautiful text-mmorpg asthetics in original color coding, descriptions, combat gameplay, channels, and more. Simply put, playing Clandestine is as easy on the eye as it gets. Infact, we have an extra-ordinary number of legally blind players who are still able to enjoy Clandestine because of the care we have taken with our asthetics.

- Clandestine supports and promotes two new MUDing Clients; the small, sleek, fast, and travel-sized "cMUD", and the long-waited free MUSH Client and zMUD alternative, "wxMUD".

- Clandestine's completely original world offers secrets, puzzles, and Boss fights that challenge a player's brain and not just his stats. Clandestine's world has given off-shoots to single player graphical RPGs, fan-games, fan-fiction, and fan-music.

- Clandestine offers you the option to player-kill. Our combat is centered around a dozen player-run religions, and the group combat is challenging, competitive, large-scale, unique, and fun. If you want to join a religious cause, but would rather stick to roleplaying, the religious Priest-Sects are given charge over interviewing new members and various roleplayed rituals and events.

- Clandestine offers player-created homes, Castles, towns, and more to aid roleplay. While roleplay is not mandatory, those who seek RPI quality roleplay are free to create their own private worlds and even join the RP-Only Continent on Clandestine.

- Clandestine offers code and gameplay options never seen on other MUDs. From over a dozen in-depth minigames(from freeze-tag, to jousting, to casinos, to Bloodbaths) to an original Blacksmithing system, original Spellcrafting system(breaking down elements from spells to create new spells), Fusion(combining multiple player-characters into a more powerful character controlled by both players), a completely original and complex Questing system, Animal Empathy, Spirit Enslavement, Soulwalking, Alchemy, Chemistry, Channeler Pocket Dimensions and Mazes, and more… Clandestine has so many toys, you will never find yourself finished with the game.

What? Haven't heard enough yet? You'll have to play to find out the rest. A 2500 character limit barely allows for us to scratch the surface of the World of Clandestine. So stop reading, and come see what the buzz is about.
Multi-user sci-fi game of galactic exploration and conquest. Under active development so your feedback is desired! You can get more information at https://EmpireDirectory.net - Hope to see you there!
AddictMUD has been around for about 20 years and it is still going strong. The owner, Brazil, is still adding and changing features and content fairly regularly. The game is based on the Dragaera novels by Stephen Brust, but there are many more zones ranging from the perilous Snow Mountain to gunfights in Tombstone, AZ. There is something for everyone on AddictMUD!

The current multi-classing system and extensive code manipulation has turned this Circle based MUD into an almost completely original system. With typical recognizable points, but a broad range of customization, this game is very stable and familiar - yet it is a new adventure for anyone familiar with the usual CircleMUD fare.

With interesting classes like Ninjas and Psionicists as well as your typical Warrior, Cleric and Sorcerer staples, there are many ways to multi-class. Classes are commonly referred to as "guilds" and there are nine of them, as well as five sub-guilds. It makes it easy for you to make a character that is different from everyone else's.

Come check us out and one of our extremely newbie friendly players will help you get started!
As the introduction has said for a long time:
DUMII is a multiuser adventure game set in a fantasy world. The current idea of the game is to score enough points to advance to the next level while having loads of fun! To get to the next level you will have to solve intriguing problems, kill obnoxious monsters, interact with the other players and generally figure out what you are meant to do.

DUMII is unique in the way that it is both very old (its been online since 1989), yet it has remained a simple mud without thousends of classes, millions of spells and so on. There are not a lot of choices to make about your character, you'll have to choose sex and settle on an alignment after a while, but that's all there is to it and everyone becomes the same figher/spellcaster as everyone else in the end. The players express themselves via their colourful descriptions, their unique possessions and of course via their actions, making everyone quite unique in the end.

So on one hand DUMII is quite simple. It is easy to get started even if one has never played a mud before, on the other hand DUMII can be quite hard. It expects the players to read the descriptions, think and experience the world as well as role play their character. The game play does not centre around killing monster after monster. Sure one can kill a monster if one wants and sometimes one must, but there is no experience rewards for it.

Dragon Knights of Valeria - The Game That Pays You To Play!

About Dragon Knights of Valeria

Dragon Knights of Valeria (http://dknight2.com) is a popular MMORPG game with over 450 players. Players can earn HYPER, GP, HTML5, and Dragon Points (DP) as they play the game which can then be traded for up to 7 different cryptocurrencies (CC) and withdrawn in game. The creator, Anarchist of Crypto Database (http://cryptodatabase.net), is also responsible for curating a CC library that catalogs over 1,300 different coins and supplies information for each one.

Once inside the world of Dragon Knights of Valeria players can explore the map in search of new towns, fight monsters for rewards and DP, and do quests that also award DP for each part completed. Each town offers its own set of equipment, pets, quests, exchanges, gambling, banks, clans, and assorted other options.

Towns also offer a gateway into their very own Kingdom where they can build villages, purchase more land, gather resources such as wood and fish, upgrade their fishing and woodcutting levels to increase the amounts gained, and train their own army once they reach level 10. You can send your soldiers to attack other players kingdoms in the hopes of taking more land, gold, and DP from your opponent.

The current options for withdrawal from the game are HYPER, Einsteinium, MoonCoin, FlappyCoin, Coin2, HTML5Coin, and GoldPieces. The amount that players can withdraw depends on the coin they choose and is mainly based on the coin's worth and game balance. The higher the balance is for a coin the more players can get when they withdraw.

Players have the option to upgrade their accounts to VIP, VIP+, or ULT. VIP can be purchased in game automatically using 20,000 DP. VIP+ currently costs ~$2 with a bonus of 5,000 DP if HYPER is used to purchase it and ULT costs 180 HYPER and gives a 5,000 DP bonus. All upgrade purchases go into the game balance for that coin and all ad income gets transferred to the game balance as well.

VIP upgrade gives players 2 times the DP when killing monsters as well as a special crown and (VIP) tag. More features for VIP will be added to the game in the near future.

VIP+ upgrade removes the in-game ads, gives 3 times the DP when killing monsters, gives a special crown and the (VIP+) tag to their name in rankings, increases their turns limit to 200, gives 500 DP and 5,000 Gold daily, gives 4 turns per minute instead of 2, gives bonuses in their villages, and adds 1 more item slot to their inventory.

ULT upgrade removes the in-game ads, gives 4 times the DP when killing monsters, gives a special crown and the (ULT) tag to their name in rankings, increases their turns limit to 300, gives 1,000 DP and 10,000 Gold daily, gives 6 turns per minute instead of 2, gives bonuses in their villages, and adds 2 more item slots to their inventory.

The quests in game tell a short story and is broken up into many parts. Each part of the story requires players to travel across the map in search of the next part, and each one that they find will reward them with some Dragon Points and/or other items such as gold or pets (coming soon). There are currently 3 quests with one ready and waiting to be added.

The maximum level that can be gained is currently 251. This could take players a long time to gain this tremendous achievement which adds to the duration of the game. As the player progresses in the game the experience required per level will get higher and higher. Monster stats will also adjust with each level gained by players.

Dragon Knights of Valeria has a chat rain bot that randomly awards a user HTML5, HYPER, and GP every 10 minutes if they have posted in chat within the last 50 posts. Players can also pay the Dark Wizard to cast a Meteor Spell which will split what you donated and send it to 3 random people in chat.

Dragon Knights of Valeria is a supporter of PICISI. PICISI will be the leading CC crowd funding website that allows campaign starters to choose their host CC. All CC funds donated towards each campaign will then be exchanged for the chosen host CC. PICISI's motto is 'Promotion, Promotion, Promotion'. No other crowd funding website helps their campaign starters promote their campaign and this will be a huge plus when looking for donors.

Looking for people to be newbie helpers. New Builders welcome. Also need some C, Javascript, and PHP programmers.
Since 2000 The Builder Academy has been training new builders and developing
the CircleMUD codebase, Oasis OLC, and trigedit. After years of stock
CircleMUD stagnation TBA offered to take over stock CircleMUD development
several times. TBA unofficially released CircleMUD 3.5 in 2006 and later
released the codebase under the name tbaMUD. TbaMUD is holding true to the
original CircleMUD vision with a few additions. The largest difference is the
inclusion of Oasis OLC, trigedit, in-depth tutorials, help files, and examples.
TBA will continue development and is always open to feedback and
recommendations from the MUDding community. TBA is foremost a MUDding resource
with the goal of improving the MUDding community.

The tbaMUD vision:
TbaMUD's vision is to provide the MUDding community a stable and functional
codebase that includes an in-depth World and help files that makes it ready to
be molded into a custom MUD by its coders and builders. We also provide
multiple resources to allow for feedback, contribution, and the sharing of
ideas within the MUDding community to ensure constant development and
improvements.
TbaMUD is highly developed from the programming side, but highly UNdeveloped
on the game-playing side. So, if you're looking for a huge MUD with billions of
spells, skills, classes, and races, tbaMUD will disappoint you. TbaMUD still
has only the 4 original Diku classes, the original spells, and the original
skills. On the other hand, if you're looking for a highly stable, developed,
organized, and well documented "blank slate" MUD on which you can put your OWN
ideas for spells, skills, and classes, then tbaMUD is what what you are looking
for.

7 Degrees of Freedom (7DOF) is an AberMUD based realm, with a unique system of classes available to all players. The emphasis is on our players having a good time, and as such roleplay is not encouraged. We are a newbie friendly MUD, and have in excess of 70 Quests that can be attempted. For those who use MUSHClient or ZMUD, we have implemented some features of MXP; this is seamless so those who favour other clients are not inconvenienced. Our ethos is that all players are treated equally regardless of experience.
Procedural Realms is a brand new codebase written from the ground up. Inspired by Diku MUDs, rogue-like games, and Diablo-style loot and equipment systems, the game features a randomly generated open world with many monsters to kill and dungeons to explore. Some of the highlights include:

  • Extensive crafting system, almost everything is craftable.

  • Randomly generated equipment.

  • Many skills and classes to choose from.

  • Player built houses and shops.

  • Build and excavate mines, clear farmland, roads, walls, fences.

  • AI agents that can be hired to fight alongside you.

  • Flexible character progression.

  • Resource-driven economy, shops only carry items sold to them.

  • Thorough in-game help system.

  • Quests, fishing, farming, cooking, mining, smithing, and much more.

The game is operational and open for player testing. There's a solid core game in place but we need players to help shape what the future will be. Things like guilds, PvP/PK, and endgame content are not yet complete. Your feedback is important! Please let us know what you think.
