LOL don't worry bro, it was just Zenn who was being all weird
about that. Nobody else questions you being a full white american.
So, let's say I'm an awesome coder, and I like Final Fantasy.
Let's say I come across your post. In your post you say this:
Quote:I need 1 Coder who can do the following; Code map, add world map, add in hedit, make a who, normal coding stuff like adding skills, races, class, jobs, etc.
That tells me you don't know how to do a thing on your own mud,
other than maybe log in.
Why should I code you a mud, when I can just code my own FF mud?
That's the question you need to answer, if you want a coder to help you.

I wasn't really saying you were Spanish, I was just using that as an example to defend you from the grammar Nazis.

wow what a way to divert the subject of this thread guys. Though crat did help by providing some useful advice. I'll add to it by saying that maybe you should at least learn how to build on somebody else's mud before you try to wrangle someone in to do all the work for you. Learn how to build first, and if you do know how to build then take it to the next step and learn how to get a mud up and running. Once you do that then learn how to make small changes yourself. Once you're to that point you can get the mud up and running and get as many of the changes as you can do by yourself done, then set about seeking more experienced coders. A good way of finding experienced coders who might be willing to help you would be to make friends with the imms on muds you currently play on. You're more likely to have a good experience with this whole venture if you're friends with the person who has the power to make the changes than if it's just some random stranger you met through a forum posting.
Don't let these guy's picking on you get you down though. If you post questions here on the forum asking for help then even the guys who are being assholes are likely to help you out so long as you show that you're serious about wanting to learn. Good luck.

didn't click the link myself, I didn't think it was absolutely necessary to point out all of the good bits of the thread though so I apologize for skipping any contributions you made to the thread. I only mentioned crat's advice cause his was the most recent bit that was actually worth anything that I read. Though these two posts didn't add anything useful at all to the thread and only serve to further derail a thread. Good job to both of us. *sarcasm*

David Haley said:If you're just saying "hey help me out I have nothing I just want to learn", that's ok, but you have to understand that people are more likely to want to spend time on something interesting to them personally -- and to make that decision, they need to know more about what's going on.
If you're just saying "hey, I'm pompous and I like to give my opinion", that's ok.. but if you're trying to act as the universal spokesman of the mud community, informing everyone of what the 'peoples' want, it'd be helpful if you would write in all caps, so it can be safely ignored.
