Have a Ruby core with Lua on top?

It's more like Alanis Morissette ironic, but if that's what you want to do I say go for it.

I'd say yes, it is. But who am I to judge? I'm developing for MUDs in 2013–already well into the realm of the absurd :)

Seriously, it's like Idealiad said. This is a hobbyist turf–do whatever you want. A job is where you let people tell you what to do so you'd earn money to pay for things you and your family need. With whatever's left you buy some happy times for yourself. A hobby is where you do whatever you want and get directly to the happy times part.

It'd be silly.

Nothing wrong with it. Lua solves a different problem from Ruby, and Ruby is just fine for the core.
