I've been MUDding since I was 14 or so, 26 now. I've been around and around
jumping from one place to the next, working on my code and playing others
that appeal to me. So the question I guess I'm asking, is what appeals to most
players?
I'll stick around on an empty MUD if I feel they've put some time and thought
into their place. Players have definitely helped me stick around also. Visual
world maps, auto maps, quests (player/mob/auto) get me. Unique aspects
to the game. If the world is not visual, I rely heavily on room descriptions,
so if it's a bland description place, I venture out the door. I like custom combat,
spells, and skills, but if it has ventured to far from the normal, I try my best
to give that a shot, and if it doesn't suite me, I'm gone. I like a place that is
challenging, but not overly challenging. What do the rest of you look for?

I've been mudding since I was 15 and I'm 30 now. What I look for is something similar to the World of Warcraft generation because I've always been spoiled. I want instant gratification in a MUD. I don't want to level for 10 years and give my soul to have a good character. I want to spend a little amount of effort that I would consider actual work to have actual fun. From there, I want social experiences, good loot, and epic adventures that keeps me hooked to the game. I don't think it's asking for much, but that's what I look for in a MUD.
