I think there is too much thought being put on the ease of typing a name out being related to punctuation. And I just now noticed that DH said pretty much the same thing I was planning on saying, but I'll add my own spin on it.

A player can make his name supremely difficult to type using JUST the standard letters. While following normal naming rules I could still make the name Xyszazl which would be difficult to type and confusing for some people while in the heat of battle. Personally, I think that with punctuation, this could be made a little less confusing and easier to type. Xys'Zazl would be easier for me to spell because the punctuation breaks it up into two parts which are much easier to remember.

Besides, I was arguing for punctuation on the RP side, not the PK side. Most RP enforced muds are very light on the PK so there is less of a chance for that to be a problem there.
