A man stands here, frightened beyond belief, holding a cross tightly to his heart.

Klaus begins to tell you his story: "I am Klaus, a cleric from afar, I
was traveling along the road with a small party six nights ago when a
strange fog suddenly blanketed the land.  Gunter trapped us here and
demanded a life!  The others surrened me to him.  I was left alone with only
this candle to protect me.  The high priests of my temple gave me this
candle before I left.  When it is lit, it casts a magical circle of
protection to fill the room.  Gunter and his evil kind cannot enter then. 
Even so, I must be vigilant, for if it ever blows out, they will descent
upon me.  I am not about to leave the protection of my candle.  I know not
what protects you, but I know what happened to the members of my party when
they left.  Their spirits were taken from them for betraying me.  Now they
walk the night as lost beings.

notice movement coming from it.  As you peer on the picture takes shape and
a figure steps from the painting.  Standing infront of you the ghost of
Gunther looks evily at you and laughs suddenly, he rises and demands 'Which
one of you will give me the life I need?  Mhuhaha.  Continue indeed,' and
disapears.

The moldy scraps of an ancient rug tangle around your feet.  Rotten
wallpaper hangs in great peels from the walls.  Water drips down the chimney
of the cold stone fireplace.  A portrait hangs over the mantle.  Except for
a heavy old desk next to one wall, the once-fine furniture is now worm-eaten
and cracked.

This hall is fairly short, extending to the west a bit more.  To the east
is a flight of stairs, north is a library and south is the parlor.

The Library~
This room is filled with the smell of must paper.  That only makes sense
because the walls are all bookshelves, crammed with books and scrolls of all
shapes and sizes.  A pair of reading chairs sit in the center of the room. 
Against one wall there is a large desk, with a huge black book on it.  A
fist-sized silver lump, maybe a paperweight, sits next to the book.  The
room has stayed dry over the years, so the papers still look readable once
the cobwebs are brushed away.

The Hallway~
The hallway comes to an end.  To the east is the main hall, north is a
small room.  A tapestry is hung across the west wall.

The Music Room~
This chamber is a parlor.  Comfortable sitting furniture lines the walls,
and there is a harpsichord for musical recitals here.  In one corner is a
huge grandfather clock, still ticking.

tight still as if someone may still be playing it every once in a while.

As you look into the clock and begin examining it suddenly chimes,
frightening you.  The hour must be at hand and you feel a bit foolish for
being so uptight.  You are about to turn away when you see movement again in
the clock.  You turn back and Gunther's Ghost is standing infront of you. 
He looks at you and says, 'Your time is fading, why not feed me your soul
right now, it will save you time...  ' You begin to confront him and he
disapears in a haze of fog.

The Sun Room~
This room is colder than all the others, and the sound of the rain is
loud here.  The room is filled with shadows that twist in the light.  It's
almost like peering into an evil jungle.  The room appears to be an old
conservatory and is filled with dead and dying plants.  There are potted
trees hung with think vines, bushes in tubs, and plants with pricking
thorns.

Kitchen Nook~
This room is the opening to the kitchen.  A door lies to the east heading
back to the Sun Room and another goes north.  There are small cabinets
against the wall and the kitchen opens towards the south to the full room.

The Kitchen~
This room is the kitchen.  Several tall cabinets line the walls, most of
them broken open.  Shattered dishes and broken glass litter the floor.  A
large hearth filled with cold ashes takes up most of one wall.  There are
only a few unbroken jars left, mostly flour, spices, and seasonings.  This
room seems very safe compared to the others in the house.  
A door lies to the north and another to the south.

The crypt is a long, narrow room with a plain dirt floor.  A stone
sarcophagus fills the center of the room.  Bronze braziers rest in each
corner, and the walls are covered with carvings of various magical symbols. 
Eight niches in the walls each contain a skeleton, shackled to the walls by
rusted iron chains.

Klaus's Sanctuary~
This room was once the house's master bedroom.  The furniture in here is
in god shape, but it is all shoved around to block the windows and make a
barricade.  The room is inhabited by Klaus Viedermann, a cleric, Klaus was
trapped in the house when he sought shelter here a week ago, but Gunter has
not been able to defeat the cleric.

Gunter's Laboratory~
The very presence of this room is overwhelming.  Shelves line the walls,
and a small ball of light is giving a ghastly illumination.  The north and
south walls are filled with disembodied limbs, organs, and blood.  There are
two podiums occupying the eastern wall.  They hold two books radiating evil.
A corpse lies on a table in the center of the room.  In the past, Gunter
Weiss paced by this corpse...  The one of his love.  He spent countless
hours studying the ways of giving back life of those who have lost it.
